I used Visine for Contacts for 2-3 weeks with no problems. I was using them in the morning when I put my contacts in and again in the afternoon after getting home from work. Then, one day I used them twice in the morning (a few hours apart) and it caused an allergic reaction. The extra Visine that ran down my cheek left a mark that was very red. About 15 minutes after this happened, I started feeling dizzy and had trouble breathing. My heart also started beating very fast and my fingers felt tingly and numb.
My husband took me to the doctor and I was feeling better by the time I got there, but from the symptoms he said it definitely sounded like an allergic reaction.

I started taking some form of lisinopril (5-10 mg) ten years ago when I needed to lose 20-30 pounds, and had a mild BP problem. Now I need to lose 50-80 pounds, even though I no longer eat boxes of cookies, candy bars, packaged foods, salty snacks, crackers. No soft drinks (no diet either). Gave up butter, eggs, cheese last October. I also stopped baking cookies and cakes. I haven't lost 20 pounds yet. I too think my doctor is a quack and in cahoots with the drug pushers. They try to make you think every pain and discomfort is your weight and from what I'm reading, it's that %#@& snake poison. I forgot to mention the itchy eyes and the cough. I thought I was allergic to my house. I wake up reaching for the Visine. My doctor subscribed a tiny bottle of eye drops that cost $100. Yes, that's what I said. Once, about 5 or 6 years ago, I woke up and my head was the size of a prize winning pumpkin. Never did figure out what caused it, until now. Thanks for letting me vent. :-)

I'm a 37 year old female and have severe asthma and allergies and have used pregnisone on and off for 30 years. I believe I am the poster child for the long term side effects. My immune system is shot to the point that my normal medicines for asthma (ventolin, advair) and allergies (tylenol sinus, claritan, visine A) and ezcema (elidel, hydrocortisone, etc. - - NOTHING works!
In the past 6 months, I have developed various infections that the doctors have not been able to identify. My eyes are swollen and red with large amount of white/yellow secretions. Vaginal secretions. Face swollen. Skilled covered in a rash with ezcema out of control. Sharp pains in my back and stomach. Constant asthma. Abnormal hair growth. It is to the point that it is impossible to function and each doctor just wants to prescribe more pregnisone. I feel as if my body is a walking time bomb and it is so full of all the cortisone from over the years and has just decided no more.
I admit that I too readily believed in the doctors when they would rapidly prescribe the pregnisone. Only now am I paying attention to the long term side effects.
Has anyone had tests done to test their immune system and other organs for damage? Thanks and best to our pregnisone club.
