I have been using Topamax now for 8 years off and on. I stopped the Topamax about 3 months ago, something I do once or twice a year to try and feel 'normal' again. Then last month I went to see my regular doctor because of numb, pale, swollen, achy fingers, swollen ankles and feet, and for a papercut on my knuckle that overnight turned into a radical staph infection. The NP ordered a full blood panel and the results came back positive for Lupus. I have had so much pain in my hips and knees, more frequent headaches (not migraines), insomnia and vision trouble. The past two weeks I have been super irritable and nauseous. I still need to have a 2nd opinion and/or referral to a rheumatologist, but is all of this related to taking the Topamax? I take 2 Imitrex injections if a migraine comes on and am hesitant to start the Topamax if it has indeed induced Lupus. Am I crazy or is this common??? THANKS for the feedback...SM.

I have my mirena for almost 2 years know. I stopped getting my period a month after it was placed & I took a pregnancy test & it was normal. I was happy with not having a period but then I realized I was feeling the consequences. First I noticed nausea, then I started having vision trouble especially when I was driving, then anxiety/nervousness started, then a feeling of post-partum depression which just didn't go away & now I have insomnia constantly waking up in the middle of the night. I recently started getting headaches & fatigue. I am making an appointment to have it removed & to have a physical. I think the side effects start off slowly & gradually get worst. Anything that changes or alters your hormone balance will wreek havoc on your body & mind.

Hi everyone. My main question, in case you don't want to read my long post, is: what is a normal / average amount of time to have to wait after stopping Yasmin for symptoms to start to fade / disappear? And if some symptoms begin to lessen, but not others, should I be worried that Yasmin was not the cause of those problems?
I started taking Yasmin at the end of May in place of my previous birth control. About a month and a half later, I started having vision trouble--it was difficult to focus, as if everything was moving ever so slightly. This was worst when I wore my contacts, and my vision was also blurrier when wearing them. I immediately went to my eye doctor, but they found nothing wrong with my eyes physically, and said my perscription was correct. About a month after that, I started having random bouts of sudden depression--I'd just start crying out of nowhere, and I've never had any trouble with mood swings or uncontrolled emotions like that before. I found this site about two weeks ago, and asked my doctor about switching back to my previous birth control.
Already, I don't feel so crazy-emotional and like crying, which had been the most recent symptom. However, the eye problems still persist, and they're much scarier to me--I've never had issues like this before, either. I won't be able to see my eye doctor again for about a month, and every day of that month the problems don't go away I'll probably be freaking out. So, my intial questions remain: what would be a normal amount of time for all / most symptoms to lessen / vanish after stopping Yasmin? And is it normal for some symptoms to take longer to dissipate, or should they typically fade simultaneously?

Thank you,
Jillian
