Was prescribed Cipro for a diverticulitis infection. Took the first dose right before bed and had immediate vertigo (could tell when I turned over in bed that my balance was off), slept and woke up remembering unusual vivid dreams. Had vertigo bad enough to call out sick. The vertigo continued so I called my doctor had asked to be switched and was given Levaquin. Didn't like the known side-effects of that either. Legs felt like tree stumps but that went away. Took Levaquin 2x without anything overt happening and infections cleared up. Recently had the same infection, once again prescribed. Skin started to have a burning, tingling sensation about 3-4 hours after taking. Woke up with hives on right arms and swollen tingling/burning lips with rather slight tingling/burning sensations off and on on face and body. I am allergic to penicillin, developing an allergy mid-way through a dose (having taken in before without any problems) where I broke out in itchy bumps all over my body, including the undersides of my hands and feet. This happened when I was around 9 or 10 years old. So even if a med is safe once you can still develop symptoms later. I have a call into my doctor, have no idea what they will prescribe next. I get bronchitis a lot and they usually given me the 3 days dosage of antibiotic, which *never* works and they they put me on a 10 days. Not as powerful but that might work. This bought of diver doesn't seem as bad as the past and already my gut feels better. I hate these meds but what can you do when you have a nasty bacterial infection that could kill you?

I'm on Welchol for the second time. I've been having a pain in my left shoulder blade and in the left side of my neck, that seems to be related. I took it for a week, had the pain, then stopped it for two days and the pain went away. I'm trying it again (2nd day) and the pain is back in my shoulder blade. I'm still having the vivid dreams I had the last time I took the drug about a year ago, which cause me to sleep so deeply, it's hard to wake up. It also causes me to grind my teeth harder (sleeping so deep) that causes more jaw pain, and pain in the neck. The first time I took this drug was last year, along with Crestor. Talk about vivid dreaming! With the two drugs together I thought I was hallucinating. The first time I also had horrible headaches and sore throat. I just can't understand why they continue to tell us there are no side effects, when clearly there are. We have all experienced them. I wish there was an easy answer.

I thought I was going crazy until I found everyone's comments. I started Zoloft 3 months ago and I'm having vivid dreams. So much that when I wake up, I have to think if a conversation or outting really took place or if it was a dream. I haven't had any nightmares, my sex drive is also down. I have no interest in sex, and I seem to be able to sleep for hours on end if given a the opportunity, such as the weekends, I seem to sleep for 12 hours straight.

I took my daughter (14yrs old) off of Singulair 2 nights ago after being in the ER. She's been taking this drug for 3 years off and on. We were told she had asthma 3yrs ago and now yesterday after taking the Methacholine challenge test, she doesn't have asthma. Talk about being confused and angry. Over the last three years my daughter changed into a very anxious person, couldn't sleep at nights, very vivid dreams that made her surround herself with pillows thinking her dreams were real, sadness, chest pains, tingling in hands, arms & legs, knee pain (could be sport related?) and a very short fuse. I came across another website and then this one about the side effects of this drug and immediately took her off. She has slept better the last two nights but still has a little chest pain (indigestion), which I hope subsides soon. This has been a terrible stress for her and the whole family and I'm praying being off this drug will help my daughter restore her self confidence and happiness in her life.

Until yesterday, I took 14 days of a 4 week prescription of 100 mg twice a day doxycycline for a tick bite rash. I rarely take any medication. The first week I just had mild side affects. Late in the second week I started to notice that I was becoming increasing anxious for no apparent reason. Even after hard exercise the anxiety seemed to be persistent as if an impending panic attack. Yet, I had no external reason to explain the anxiety.

After two additional days the anxiety seemed to keep ramping up and I began to get very dizzy when I moved suddenly or bent down to pick up items from the floor. The pressure behind my eyes also feel like it was increasing. I was afraid my blood pressure was spiking but in actuality it was probably either cranial pressure or simply an fight or flight anxiety response. I also experience some pretty vivid dreams.

I finally searched online and found no official symptom of anxiety for doxycycline but found people complaining about it unofficially. I spoke with my pharmacist who also said she had no listing of anxiety as a known symptom for the drug. She suggested I stop taking it and see if my symptom subside.

It has been 24 hours since my last dose and the anxiety has reduced substantially but not completely. I feel like I have a hang over today but otherwise I do feel an immediate improvement. I am still a little dizzy but not like yesterday.

Like all drugs, you should be very cognizant of how the drug affects your body - even if a physician tells you otherwise because only you can really tell and everyone has different bio-chemistry which reacts in different ways to different drug compounds.

I'm 16 and I was prescribed Doryx (doxycycline hyclate) about a month ago to treat moderate acne. I've been taking it since then and I'm supposed to be on it until September, however, I'm not sure if I'm going to last that long if I keep taking it.

While I didn't experience any side effects for about the first week, after that, it turned terrible. I experienced insomnia, which included not being able to fall asleep, waking up about 5-10 times a night (often being unbearably hot and sweating intensely, even thought it was a cool 70 degrees F in our house.), and to make it worse, i was up for about half an hour each time i woke up. And to make it worse, I was always tired through the day, but I still couldn't sleep.

While sleeping I had very vivid dreams which is unusual for me. I also had pretty bad stomach pain, and terrible pain in my kidneys for a few days. It felt almost like a kidney stone.

I also am very rarely hungry and almost get sick when i eat. Since on this medication a month ago, I've lost about 10 pounds just because I can't eat.

I've had a difference in mood as well. Most of the time, I'm happy, but now, I have very noticeable mood swings and periods of depression.

And the medicine ISN'T EVEN HELPING with my acne.

Oh, and these are only SOME of the side effects I've had. So, right now, I'm not sure if i should quit the medicine, or if the medicine will put an end to me first.

Hi I am from Nepal, and I am 28 years young, male. I have been taking Lisinopril for about 2 years now. At the beginning this drug seemed to have no side effects at all but as the days progressed I could see the side effects. As side effects started to climb up hill day after day, my friend suggested me to consult my physician immediately. So I consulted my physician yesterday and he told me to do an array of tests; blood test including thyroid hormone test, ECG, and chest X-Ray. My reports will come in due 1 weak time. For now my doctor has changed this medication and given me amlodipine and atenolol combination and its trade name is "amlobet" (manufactured in india by: sun pharmaceutical industries). I took 1 dose yesterday and some of my symptoms seemed to disappear, but I'm quite not sure whether its my Psychology that has contributed to the sudden disappearance of some symptoms or the drug itself. I still have to take this medication for some time to make sure of it.
Some side effects experience during Lisinopril intake:

1. Extreme fatigue and lack of interest in doing day to day work this symptom has disappeared as i started on the new medication.
2. Depression like feeling specially early in the morning and at night times.
3. Waking up in the middle of the night.
4. Vivid dreams.
5. Foggy thinking.
6. Nervousness.
7. Palpitation.
8. Anxiety.
9. Profuse sweating.
10. Shaking of hands and legs during nervousness.
11. Slight Memory loss.
12. Lack of concentration.
13. Mood swing (extreme).
14. Dullness (extreme).

As I progress on this new medication I will update this blog. And I'l also give information regarding my blood tests and ECG tests after my report comes. For now this much. But I recommend Lsinopril users to consult their respective physician seriously before taking this medication and consult even if you are on the medication. This drug seems to pass the blood brain barrier and reach the brain so it affects the central nervous system directly which is not the case in some HBP medications like; amlodipine, atenolol etc.

I am 18 years old and have been on Loestrin 24 Fe since July 1st. This is my first time on birth control. For the first week of taking it I was on my period and it lasted almost 7 days with 3 more days of spotting after. I have not noticed any of the horrible side effects that i have read here. But recently for the past 3 days I have been extremely irritable. I have crazy mood swings in a matter of seconds. I could be having a great happy day and suddenly I'm on a rampage or I feel like crying. I sometimes have weird vivid dreams but thats normal for me. I am normally a carefree happy person. My boyfriend has experienced most of my mood swings. He's just as concerned as I am. I feel really bad for f***ing out on him and everyone else. I hope this doesn't last long.

I'm on day 4 of Loestrin24Fe. I've never been on birth control before. I haven't had any side effects. I've had mild headaches this week but I think that's because of being off of caffeine, not the birth control. It seems so far so good. I'm keeping a journal of everything. How much sleep I got, what time I took the pill, what I ate, how I long I worked out if I did, what I'm eating, recording any weight change, watching for bleeding or anything and even recording headaches and vivid dreams. The only two things I've noticed are that every night since the first day I took the pill I've had really vivid dreams that I've been able to remember hours after waking up. And my sex drive is increased as well. I'm a 22 year old virgin getting married in 85 days and the desire for sex has been heightened in the last 4 days - and it has nothing to do with it being the week before or week of me period because that ended a couple days ago. So, that's all I've got report so far. I'll write again down the road and update on how it's been.

I didn't have a very good experience with Aviane. I took it for two months and within the first week of taking it I felt angry all the time, enough so that I was snapping at people for no reason!
During the second month of this pill I lost the ability to sleep through the night, I was up two or three times a night and had no reason to be. On top of that when I did sleep I had incredibly vivid dreams usually I would wake up and not feel rested. My breasts were very sore as well and swollen, my bras actually no longer fit! Unfortunately my sex drive took a dive too, I rarely had the desire and usually that isn't the case. During this month I also gained weight, which is ridiculous seeing as though nothing about my lifestyle was changing. I was really upset!
I'm glad that by chance I found this website, now I realized it was indeed Aviane. I did get off of it and I am trying a new pill next month.

Im taking lamictal since 2004. So far so good no seizures. As far as the side effects, well, I have VERY vivid dreams! Always bizarre! Sometimes really bad, but most the time just strange. Every once in awhile I will get the night sweats but not on a regular basis. My short term memory is shot, I've developed anxiety and also ocd even though that hasn't been diagnosed yet. Im on Zoloft for the anxiety which has brought on its own separate list of side effects! I also have dealt with hair loss, Im not balding or anything but have def. noticed a gradual increase in the hair loss. Cant grow my hair out anymore. Ive gained tons of weight! This has also been gradual. I wonder how long I can deal with this. I started out on carbatrol (is that how you spell it?) That was a nightmare! For two weeks I walked around in a dream, a haze! So when the doc switched me to the lamictal I was glad I didn't feel so terrible. Now Im terrified of switching meds. Im half tempted to get off of both of them all together. Does anyone have any suggestions? Im a 30 year old mother and newlywed and dont want to let my life pass me by while I struggle with these side effects! Help!!!!

The only side effects I am having, and I have only been on Effexor XR for about 2 weeks are: bad headache, anxious feeling (but getting better), and I loved my vivid dreams (good or bad) I have had all my life. For the past 2 weeks, IF I DO dream, I don't remember a thing about them. My family is probably happy about that because they get tired of hearing about my silly dreams everyday, but I enjoy retelling them since they have always been so real and deep! But now, nothing! Before Effexor XR, I was on Zoloft for 14 years! It was great, and no side effects, but all at once, after all these years, it was like it just QUIT WORKING. NOTHING. It was like the drug store had begun giving me placebos or something. I so hated to change, but had no choice. Depression, crying spells, and "going off" had come back after 14 years with a vengeance! Wish me good luck because I am going to try and tough this out and give the Effexor more time. Otherwise, doctor is going to put me back on Zoloft and just up the dosage from 1 100 mg tablet to 1 100 mg in the morning and 1/2 tablet in the afternoon. Too bad they don't just make a plain, "ole" happy pill!!!

I was diagnosed as having Bipolar Disorder/with severe panic and anxiety disorder in 2000. I had been sick realistically since I was around 11 years old. Suicidal thoughts, and uncontrollable mood swings. I have been on Lamictal (200-400mg) per day along with Klonopon for my panic disorder, since 2001. I do experience a slight memory loss from time to time, but feel that it is not the medicine but that sometimes I am not really focused on the conversation, or my environment. I have also experienced very vivid dreams, sometimes nightmares that are overwhelming. But I think it is cool that I can remember my dreams now, because sometimes they are worth remembering. I would never consider going off of the medication, for it has saved my life. I am a completely different person now. I am very happy. I do experience sleepiness a few hours after taking Lamictal, but if I take it at around 3pm, by the time I get off work at 5, I am not tired yet and have no problems driving. Some of you should try this method. I think a lot of other side effects are just in people's heads.

I started Chantix back on March 3rd. While I do admit that at the time I was already depressed and feeling overwhelmed by many factors in my life,I could control it all prior to the Chantix. After being on Chantix,I had serious intestinal problems,my depression worsened, paranoia was horrible,I gained a lot of weight in a very short time,ANGER was all but uncontrollable....to the point I threw things at my boyfriend and made a total mess of a wonderful relationship. I stopped taking it about 3 weeks ago. The stomach issues are just starting to go away....I have not had a period since March 2nd though.....My anger and depression are controllable now however I am in therapy. I had these symptoms before so I know they weren't brought on by the Chantix but were certainly worsened by the medication. The medication did help me cut back on the very expensive habit of smoking and the dreams I admit were pretty cool. Ive never in my life had such vivid dreams, not nightmares like I have seen on some post, but just "normal," but vivid dreams.
I would talk in length to your doctor prior to starting this medication if you have any history of depression or anxiety....I was not somebody, anybody wanted to be around while on this medication!

I started taking zyrtec a few days ago for seasonal allergies. I had tried the claritin (loratidine) before and it didn't seem to really help me much. I was avoiding the zyrtec because I knew it could potentially make me drowsy and I didn't want to be tired if I was working. I'm a pharmacist so I decicded to try it knowing the potential side effects. It works really well for me - but I started having really vivid strange - and disturbing - dreams. It has only been a week and they havent been too bad so far - but I am going to monitor it and if they get worse I will stop and try something else. The reason this is so strange is I don't normally dream much at all. I maybe remember bits and pieces of a dream - these are wierd and strange and make absolutely no sense. These dreams seem so real and are so clear - I can remember every detail of what was done and said.

After what I have seen here and on some other sites I'm 99% positive this drug has hit me with several of the side effects listed. I'm a fairly healthy 49 year old woman. I have never had any health problems, no high blood pressure, no heart problems nothing. I went to the dentist in late March with a problem wisdom tooth. I'm allergic to penicillin so I was prescribed Clindamycin (sp) but it did make me sick to my stomach so I couldn't get the entire daily dose down. I had made it thru 90% of the prescription when I went back on 3-31-09 and still had some infection left in the tooth. My dentist took my BP and it was normal. He then said he wanted me on antibiotics for another week, and prescribed Levaquin as "a wonderful drug, it won't make you sick and you only have to take one a day". So I took the 7 day 500mg dose, went back the next week. True, it didn't make me sick. But I did notice my Achilles tendon was really sore and stiff. I also had a re-occurrence of an elbow problem that had healed and was no longer bothering me until then. I also noticed I wasn't sleeping well, and was having vivid dreams, which I attributed to the pain medication (vicodin) he had also prescribed. Went back on 4-8-09 and my BP was sky high!! As I said, never ever have I ever had an issue with my BP including when I was pregnant! He said he couldn't do anything with it so high. I mean a week and up almost 100 points! He attributed it to "White coat syndrome". So another week of Levaquin and back again yesterday. BP was the same story again, this time he didn't even see me but sent in the assistant to tell me to go get on meds with my Dr. So after that, I'm angry and totally confused. So I came home, hit the internet and I'm seeing what changed in that week to make my BP go insane. I'm also seeing other symptoms here. The Achilles tendon, Knee aches, Back ache, Hip ache, difficulty sleeping, and Steven King quality nightmares. I also read somewhere on the net that supplements like MoveFree with MSM would help and I do take that as a regular supplement to help with things just getting a little older as I'm a pretty active gardner. Now I have been off this since Monday and my aches are better today than they have been. I picked up a BP machine yesterday and it's down a little since at the doctor's. I'm keeping a close eye on that for a couple of days before I submit to a chronic disease for the rest of my life. Hopefully the side effects will gradually go away. Has anyone else's symptoms gone away after stopping the drug? How long did it take for them to go away if they did?

I have been taking Singulair for runny nose due to allergies. I never associated things I was experiencing with this drug as my MD said there were no side effects, I have experienced weird vivid dreams, depression, hair loss, leg cramps, feeling tired all the time. Singulair has not helped my runny nose. I can't believe how many infants and children take this drug.

Here's my horrible experience w/ Doxycycline Hyclate (100mg prescribed 2x day)
I only took 3 doses of this and vomited one of those.(there appeared to be blood in vomit) I was taking this for pelvic infection. I had severe nausea that came in waves. I also had severe drowsiness to the point that I could not lift my head up. I felt a sense of being "out of body" and extreme dizziness that almost made me feel like I was falling. I had confusion, disorientation, forgetfulness, and an inability to concentrate. I felt bone chilling cold, that alternated with sweating and hot flashes. My face, hands, and arms became puffy. I was very drowsy but could only sleep a couple hours due to insomnia. When I did sleep I had very weird and vivid dreams. I also felt a general sense of panic the day after I stopped taking it. This stuff was nasty and I will never take it again.

It is wonderful to have a forum like this to share stories and complaints but NOTHING WILL ACTUALLY BE DONE UNTIL REPORTED TO FDA. It takes many people reporting symptoms for Fda to even care or take notice. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP YOURSELF AND OTHERS BY REPORTING TO FDA. Go to www.fda.gov/medwatch. It is really simple to do and this is the first time I have ever reported anything. (and first time I had any major drug reaction). It is also confidential.

My experience on this drug after only 3 doses was very scary. I hope I will feel better soon. It is 1 1/2 days now after last dose. I will try to report back on here when I am feeling better. The half life for the med is about 18 hours, which means by tomorrow I will still have 25% left in my system. I am hoping after 2 more days I will feel back to normal. I have had as much water as I can tolerate and took dandelion root to help cleanse my liver. Take care everyone and remember to report any symptoms you had to the FDA at www.fda.gov/medwatch

Prescribed Avelox after previous antibiotic could not clear up sinusitis. Avelox cleared it up within three days, but I feel worse now. Extreme agitation/anxiety, tremors, twitches, no appetite, boughts of depression, dizzy, lack of coordination, accelerated heart rate, leg shake, cold extremities, very strange, vivid dreams. Doctor told me to stop taking and side effects should clear up in a few days ( I hope). This is nuts. I feel like I am going insane. I could not go to work for three days due to side effects.

My 13 year old son started taking singulair Nov 13, 2008 for seasonal allergies. Three weeks later teachers at school recognized a change in behavior that was not typical or noticed prior to the medication. The end of Dec. 2008 loss of appetite and increased mood changes and noticeable aggression toward others and unable to change his feeling even knowing his thoughts & feelings were awful and not typical or right. Jan 13, 2009 we realized it was the med and he stopped taking singulair. Not only is my son still trying to recover from physical effects, he currently is trying to recover emotionally. No longer able to attend school and in a home-bound education program. Would not recommend this drug to anyone. Was taken to the emergency room 3 times within the last month and a half for physical issues and choking sensations & loss of weight. Was admitted to the hospital twice and the hospital admitted him to a psychiatric treatment facility once and currently he is going to a psychologist weekly all within the last month and a half. Prior to taking singulair no major issues.
