I just started 80 mg of Prednisone for Vasculitis in my kidney’s. I also have RA. This treatment is being augmented with low dose chemotherapy. The Chemo is nothing compared with the side effects of the Prednisone. It is Horrible. It has so messed with my brain I never knew what an awful existence obsessive compulsives live. I can’t sit still and stop doing things if there is anything left undone! I have trouble with controlling my emotions, responses etc. Thinking isn’t easy either. And I’m awake most of the night. (Not a bad thing since we just were blessed with twins however). But it is really straining my relationship with my 6 year old son who can’t understand why his Dad goes from nice dad to mad dad in a second. I’ve also have horrid muscle fatigue in my legs. For me this is the worst because getting up and moving and walking up stairs is almost impossible. And I was hiking up to 5 miles in rough terrain just a few weeks ago. I’ve actually LOST 10 lbs.
So I am wondering if anyone has any tips, tricks or ideas they have found to combat the muscle fatigue? It would be greatly appreciated if you could share any ideas you have. I’ve been drinking water and electrolyte replacements, (G-2, the new Gatorade) but that has not solved the problem.
Thanks.

i'm 15 and have been on the medication for a couple of weeks. i feel like my vision is blurred. other symptoms i have are bleeding in the nose, dry cough, trouble concentrating, my leg won't quit moving, and i can't eat. looking at food just wants to make me hurl because when i do eat, i get a terrible stomach ache or sometimes i just tasting the food makes me sick. my head always hurts and my legs are weak just after walking up stairs. that's not normal for me. also, i'm always thirsty and i have trouble remembering things, which i didn't before.

I have been on Toporal XL 50 mg daily for 3.5 years. I have SVT & A-fib. I had ablation 2 years ago & it was not successful. Now I also take flecanaide 200 mg daily.
Since I started this drug I have gained 15+ pounds and have been working out harder than ever before...so frustrated. I experience all the same symptoms: fatigue, tiredness, especially walking up stairs, IBS, lethargy, on and on. I've tried to ween off but keep going back because my heart starts racing.
I'm going to try again.
Alcohol really triggers the rapid heart rate so I'll have to give that up too. I enjoy a little red wine and now that's gone!
This is such a drag.

I have just come across this site, while looking to find out why I have been experiencing heart palpitations for the past two months - out of the blue!!! and usually "exercise" induced. I had some tests and have been told they are Premature Atrial Contractions "PACs". I started taking Yasmin in April, after having tried others over the past year (tri-cyclen lo and alesse) which did not work for me as the progestin was not strong enough. I am in my 40s and never took the pill before. Yasmin was great, it significantly reduced my "physical" pms (severe inflamation, severe bloating, severe sore breasts) which I experience for 2-3 weeks a month. However, sometime in mid to late June, I started getting palpitations/tremors out of the blue. The first episode freaked me out and lasted for about two weeks. At first I thought it was allergy medication mixed with my thyroid med, which can happen - but I cut out the allergy meds and still got them. They seem to come about 6hrs to a day after I fexercise/figure skate and they last from 2 to 5 five days. It's very irritating and nerve wracking, and I feel very agitated. I am also out of breath more than usual when walking up stairs, a little light headed and have some tightness in the chest. My legs also are weak, which makes no sense given my exercise regimen. I then lowered my thyroid replacement from .125 synthroid to .100 - too much thyroid med can cause some palpitations. Anyone who has mistakenly taken a second thyroid pill having forgotten that they already took one will understand. Even with the lower dose I am still getting the palpilations. I am totally at a loss as to why all of a sudden this is happening to me (perhaps perimenopause??). I have had the odd flutter here and there in my live, but nothing like this. It just doesn't make any sense ag ll. Can one's health just change like this overnight?. I am otherwise healthy, slim, have "lower" blood pressure (apprx 100-90/70-60)I skate 3 to 5 times a week, I have a full time job and yes I do push myself, but this is getting ridiculous. The only thing I can attribute it to is the Yasmin, ... but my symptoms only started after a few months not instantly, whereas it would seem that most of the the women here noticed the side effects faster. I hate to stop the Yasmin because I will have to return to pms "hell", but I suppose I will give it a try to see if the palpitations subside. At this point, I have been offered a low dose "beta blocker" and have refused. I am stunned to think that all of a sudden I have heart issues, especially since my Dr has always kidded me my that I will never have heart problems with my blood pressure. I will stop the Yasmin tonight and post another message in a few weeks one it is out my system. Here's hoping it is the Yasmin.

I just finished week 2 of Yasmin and the side effects hit me hard about 3 days ago! Anxiety, heart palpitations, moody, tired, nauseous, headache, did I say moody? My appetite is out of control too! I will not be continuing with this pill. Thank goodness I found this site, as well as another forum - Otherwise, I would have chalked it up to stress in general (I'm a SAHM of 3 children). It got so bad today, I thought about going to the ER!

I was given advair for asthma and it helped my breathing. I was experiencing alot of joint and hip pain, which I did not know at the time was caused by the advair.the pain was so bad I droped out of college and saw a orthopedic surgeon. I was convinced I would need surgery on my knee. I was diagnosed with chrondomylagia( spelling?) and was told to begin physical therapy. I never did the physical therapy, I did not really have the time and to be honest I was in so much pain I just did not want to go.I was also very irritable which I chalked up to be from being in so much pain and frequent headaches. My husband switched jobs so we had no health insurance for a couple of months. I ran out of the Advair during this time. all of my symptoms went away within that time period, still not realizing it was the advair. When we got our new insurance I began the Advair again within three days of taking 250/50 my knees were really hurting that same feeling of such pressure behind the knee cap and such pain bending and walking up stairs, etc. My hip started aching it was as though I had severe arthritis over night. my moodiness and headaches were back. Thats when it hit me its the Advair and I started to research it and found this site. I have not taken it today. I will call my DR. to see if there is something else I can take and hope for less side effects. well good luck to all of you. I hope this was helpful. Also, if anyone has a recommendation on a asthma medication that has been a success Please let me know so I can discuss that option with my physician. thank you.

I have now been off Lipitor for 3 weeks and am feeling less fatigue and my hips and thighs are not hurting as much. Still pain when walking up stairs. I ask my General Practioner for a CPK test (muscle test). My Cardiologist did not agree with me that Lipitor was causing my hip and thigh pain and weakness. Sure enough the test came back slightly elevated. Because of a heart attack, my doctor wanted me on a statin drug. I tried 2 with the same results. My liver test always came back good so that is all He cared about. Now I have some muscle wasting. I'm not sure if that can be corrected but whatever I will never take Lipitor again.

Oh God. i am on the Depo Provera shot. My daughter is 7, I have been rotating between the patch and the shot every other year, because the doctor says its not good to be on the shot for more than a year, something about osteoporosis. Mind you, I haven't had any problems before, but i have been back on the shot i wanna say 6 months, well whatever, i'm on my second dosage. And I am blowing up!And now that i am putting 2 and 2 together, I do have a lot of headaches. i don't know what to do. I have to have birth control because I LOVE SEX. And it helps with my cramps. I mean when I'm not on birth control, I have the kind of cramps that make you feel like you are going to vomit. I'm still small but I have gained 20 pounds! That will not leave! Now i'm debating on getting off birth control all together!!! The patch was cool, but that big ass band-aid is not sexy! It looks like a Nicotine patch. And I was considering the mirena, but you said you gained weight off of that! Oh lord! And I can't take pills because they give me yeast infections! What other methods are there?? Is you know of anything Side effects or what i should consider, email me at ****** Thanks. P.S. All the problems that I was having I didn't put 2 and 2 together until a coworker's hair started falling out due to a Birth Control pill she just started taking. Side effects that I am having are: I have gained 25 pounds and I don't eat shit. Fatigue. Hemorrhoids. Small portions of acne around my hairline. Fast heartbeat sometimes. I felt a kicking feeling in my belly about 3 times. Last week when I caught a cold my vision was blurry. Can't walk up a flight of steps without breathing like a 500 pound woman. A slight headaches. Not excruciating just a dull pain that will not go away until I take some aspirin. Irritability. And gas. This makes me not want to be on any kind of birth control period. I am researching different methods now.
