I had posted here a couple weeks ago and have jsut read through some of the posts since then.
Suffice to say I am on month 3 of Yasmin and for the past 2 days I am in FULL BLOWN panic attack. I have not been able to talk myself out of it much and as a result I have not eaten since Tuesday night. I am barely holding water down. My heart has been racing too. I have noticed slight symptoms getting worse and worse with each cycle and I am so done with these pills. Honestly I am done with any bcp. I have tried to get my dh to get 'taken care of' and he won't consider it. He has no concept of emotions like I am having; like most men I guess. He just thinks I need a hobby or something....yeah whatever.
I am stopping this pill today and I have a call into my RE/GYN's office now. I have tried several bcp's over my life (I am 35) and they have all given me some sort of bad side effect. I have tried low dose, I've tried high dose and inbetween and they all end up bad for me. I have PCOS so my RE is pretty adiment about me staying on a bcp regimen but my quality of life with my kids from day to day means a lot to me. They're 4 & 1 and need a mom that is happy, energetic and not this puddle of fear and misery.
It also irritates me that doctors play dumb to the correltation of symptoms from bcps; it's like we don't know what we're talking about yet we LIVE it every minute of every day. I feel crazy enough right now and I don't need a doctor telling me I am because his medical book says it can't be the bcps.

I have been taking prednisone for severe chronic urticaria (hives) for 14 years. The good outwieghs the bad here because I would be dead by now if I was not on it. I would have killed myself. Before I was on it, my face would swell up so that I could not see, barely breathe and definitely not talk. On top of this I had hives on every inch of me, my hands so badly swollen that I could not close them, my feet so swollen even standing hurt and walking was like treading on knives. If that was not bad enough I had extreme nausea and could not keep even water down. Sleeping was completely out of the question and trying to do anything at all but sit and scratch was also out of the question. The only side effects I have had are extreme weight gain (60 the first year and in the additional years it has become a grand total of 150 lbs) I have doubled my weight since I started the medication. By the way I excercised like a hamster on crack and it did not help. I have pitting edema, an ulcer and I now bruise very easily. Over the years I have taken every antihistimine ever conceived as well as tried many other remedies. I have been on anti rejection medications, asthma medicine and even arthritis medication. At one point I was on Zantac and Proventil to see if that might do it. Unfortunately prednisone is the only thing that has worked for me. I have even tried some herbal remedies. I would wrap myself in aluminum foil if it would make my hives disappear, unfortunately it ended up being fat and pitting edema in which I have been wrapped. I can handle it. Getting fat is not the end of the world, not living my life is the end of everything! So take the vitamins and the detoxifiers and suck it up!

My mother took Levaquin for an infection, and several hours after the dose, she develops dizziness and nasea that lasts for a day and a half. She cannot even keep water down and has muscle tightness that is un-tolerable. The doctor immediately took her off the medicine to try another antibiotic.

I am almost 54, a female. Twice since October I have tried to take Lipitor, but couldn't make it past the fifth dose. By day five (both times) I developed flu-like symptoms, the worst of which was severe nausea and vomiting every ten minutes, muscle aches and pain (including lower back), extreme weakness, dizziness, shakiness, feverish feeling, and "fuzzy" head. The last episode - just two days ago - made me realize it was more than likely the Lipitor. The first episode happened while I also had a staff infection in my eye, and although I quit taking the Lipitor just in case, I attributed my ailments to the eye infection, and totally forgot about the possible Lipitor connection after that. At that time I also had extreme head pain, and now I'm not sure which was the cause, the infection or the Lipitor. I was bed ridden for five days that time.
This time I was away on a business trip and had to spend two extra days in bed at a hotel because I could hardly walk. As soon as I got sick I quit taking the drug. I had to take prescribed suppositories to stop the vomiting because I couldn't even keep water down. The nausea was so severe I had to keep a trash can next to the bed. I drove three excruciating hours to get home tonight, and still feel very sick with the flue symptoms and aching legs. I promised myself that the first thing I would do when I got home was check the internet for Lipitor side effects, and I'm sure glad I did. I had no idea what the drug is capable of doing.
I will try to see my doctor tomorrow and discuss an alternative way to lower my cholesterol, which is only marginally elevated - in fact, if it weren't for my type-2 diabetes (which I keep under control through diet), my cholesterol would be normal.
Good luck to all of you who have more serious, long-term effects of this drug. I consider myself lucky to have gotten ill at the onset of taking Lipitor so hopefully I will avoid more dire consequences later. I will now go to bed before I fall over.
