I have been on Yaz for 3 days now and stopping it! I have been on Yasmin previously which never had any problems, just the slight weight gain, predominantly water retention, so this time, a year later, was prescribed Yaz. Immediately I felt very sensitive and down, could have broken into tears over the simplest things and also an increase in appetite. The worst though, as I have never experienced before, very lethargic and interrupted sleep, slight fever, bad nausea though not throwing up, cramping and bloatedness, having period like symptoms. Now reading this page on Yaz, I wish I never had thought to change or experiment with this and would not recommend it.

Back in October last year i was having really bad pain behind my eyes - they hurt on movement. I went to my doctors 8 times within two weeks - he kept giving me pain killers saying it was a tension headache. The last appointment i had with him id lost the vision in my right eye - they eventually referred me to the hospital. After loads of tests and questions they finally put me on Steroids and strong antibiotics via drip and i had MRI scans but by then i had lost my sight completed and was told i would never regain my sight as my nerves were severely damage. After a week or so on Prednisone my sight was getting slightly better in the left eye which was great i could think about seeing my son again. I have been taking Prednisone along with loads of other tables one for my bones and nerves and folic acid and very strong painkillers etc for months. I tried to reduce my dose as directed and my condition got worse the pain behind my eyes came back and they they said i had C.R.I.O.N so now im back on a high dose and im also taking azathioprine. I have experienced all the side affects of this drug - Round Face (moon face) server muscle cramp - i was unable to walk for 8 hours a few weeks ago i was in so much pain. Terrible bad back - shoulder blades hurts. Terrible spots. Really bad heaches. Eye pain. Water retention. Sleeping problems. Mood swings. Theres to many to list. This drug helped me regain my sight but i cant wait for the azathioprine to get into my system so i can start to reduce the steroid and start loosing some weight and get rid of all the other side affects.

I've been on and off Prednisone since I was a little girl. I'm 23 now and have been off of the terrible stuff for 10 months. Prednisone and I have a love/hate relationship. It did save my life several times when I was having chronic, lethal asthma attacks. I almost died several times.

I suffered much when taking the drug. I had every side effect known to man: sleeplessness though moderate fatigue, depression, anxiety, fast heart rate, increase blood sugar levels (I was even given insulin), moon face (didn't recognise myself), increased weight gain (20+ lbs), horrendous abdominal strechmarks, heartburn/acid relux (which I had to be medicated for in order to continue taking Prednisone), mood swings, muscle pain, bone pain (I now have osteoperosis), muscle weakness, hot flashes, increased sweating, pale yellow-ish skin, bad acne, and water retension. There may have been more side effects, I just can't recall all of them right now. Thank God I'm not on this stuff right now!

I was diagnosed with a quirky little disease called "Minimal Change Disease" - my kidneys decided that my body did not need any protein, and without any protein in my system, I gained 55 pounds of water weight, along with few other nasty side effects like having cholesterol in the 800's and blood clots in my lungs. At this point, I have been on the drug for a little over three months - 70 mgs for the first 6 weeks, the point at which the disease went into remission. The last 6 weeks, I've been tapering off - and will be off Prednisone by the end of this week. Ironicly, I had been taking a drug that causes water retention to fight a disease that causes water retension. Fortunately, after losing the 50 pound of water weight in less than three days, I didn't see any of the massive weight gain some have reported. I have gained about 8 pounds in the past 6 weeks that I've been tapering off the drug. The only other side effect I had was this euphoric, ethereal feeling I would have about mid-morning where my concentration was that of a 2 year old (I have experience in that because I have a 2 year old), and by mid-afternoon, I would race around the office in a flurry of activity - and get absolutely nothing accomplished. It was a weird sensation - kind of fun, but disconcerting - of being giddy as though I was drunk. I had to really sit down at my desk and force myself to behave and do my work. I also had quite a few nights in which I would wake up in the wee hours of the morning and to force myself to read the dictionary just to fall back asleep. Sure the drug has some nasty side-effects, and can really mess with your head, but so can being a 200 pound albino blueberry. And there were no Oompa Loompas around to take me down to the juicer. As to the side effects, I realized that the euphoria wasn't permanent, and I had to have a bit of fun with it when I could, and as to the weight gain, five pounds is nothing - though, there is much in my closet right now that I can't wear.

Post your symptoms since stopping Yasmin!!!

Hey everyone it's Kay21 here and I just wanted to post my 3 month off Yasmin update. Because stopping the pill is a hard decision, I figured we should all post are updates here to help/support those who are planning to stop or who have recently stopped Yasmin.

I have been off of Yasmin since April 17. As some of you already know, I was experiencing horrible side effects while on Yasmin for 3 years (particularly stomach problems, vaginal dryness, muscle cramps, increased blood pressure and heart rate and anxiety).

The first 1 month off of Yasmin was okay. In fact, I felt the best I had ever felt in a while. My blood pressure and heart rate decreased and the migraines and muscle cramps went away. But when I hit the 2 month (8 week) mark, I felt HORRIBLE. I was severely depressed and anxious. I was crying all the time and felt a severe sense of DOOM! The physical symptoms also started to become problematic. The acne increased and I started growing more facial hair. The worse symptom, however, was that I started losing a ton of hair. I would lose stray hairs all day (probably about 200 a day). Since I have hit the three month mark, the hair loss has gotten MUCH WORSE! Now I am losing CLUMPS of hair all day. I have seen several doctors about this. Some say it's because of stress and a few (a derm, GYN and endo) say that hiar loss is common after stopping bcp. I have already loss about 1/3 of my hair.

I am also really concerned, because I have not had a period since April 22. So my doctor has put me on provera for 10 days to induce a period.

For those who have stopped Yasmin, what have your symptoms been (i.e. increased acne, weight gain, anxiety, etc.). Has anyone experienced hair loss? How long did it take to get a period???

Thanks...
