I am 26 years old and have 3 and 1/2 month old son. i recently had mirena inserted and will be having it removed first thing tomorrow when i call the doctors office. i have ready numerous blogs and have a hair loss problem as well. I know that after u birth a child u loose hair as well as when its cold out as the air changes and may cause ur hair to be more dry and break etc. That is not the case here, my hair line on both sides is thinning as well as the front top part of my hair line.when i wash my hair it comes out way to easily and not the normal shedding when u wash and scrub ur hair. I have very long, thick thick hair so it took a few weeks to notice, but i know this is not normal. The first thing u can do is go to the fda website and find ur region complaint line number and call and report it. they take this serious, as they called me back a few minutes after i left my info with the young lady on the phone. if it is not reported to them they don't know to pull the product. it is even posted on the mirena web page to report any side affects u feel are not normal, or something along those lines. drug reps are surely not going to tell ur doctor this is more common then the 5% the info on the web page says. If u do not know medical terms or what u are looking for, ur likely not to see it and its not listed in "common" side affects like it needs to be. Please help by calling the fda in ur area so that this can be further looked into. i have only had the iud for 7 weeks and already notice this and caught it. I have read a ton of post on other pages and feel so bad that so many people did not catch it for awhile. Like most said, they thought age or an imbalance in their body was the causing factor. if i find more info i will post, hope this helps, and if u have any info for me please send it-

So glad I found this web page! I just finished a 10-day course of Doxycycline 100 mg. twice a day, prescribed by my oral surgeon after a tooth extraction. Around Day 5 or 6 I started getting heartburn that was not easy to get rid of. At the time I did not suspect the Doxy, because I was also taking pain medication, and thought that was the cause. It just occurred to me yesterday that the Doxy might be the problem. I looked on Drugs.com and read up on it, but nowhere in the listed side effects does it mention heartburn, or any of the mood disorders that other people here have experienced. Luckily I finished the pills earlier today, but I have had the heartburn non-stop ever since. So this time I Googled "Doxycycline heartburn", and I got plenty of results. So, it's not an isolated case. The instructions on my pill bottle were to "take it on an empty stomach", and to "not take any antacids, dairy products or iron within 2 hours of taking this drug". It makes me angry that this possibility of severe heartburn is not listed as a possible side effect of this drug. I'm glad I didn't get any mood disorder problems from it, I already take medication for anxiety/depression. Thanks for letting me vent! I'll be telling my pharmacist about this not-uncommon problem.

This web page is a revelation. I thought I was the only one!! Was put on Yasmin by my Gynae for slight hormone imbalance (with no symptoms). Been on this pill for 4 yrs. Never had Pre Menstrual Tension until I took this pill. During my period, I suffer horrendous migraines, nausea and irritability and waves of anxiety for 3 days and then it goes.
Went to see another Gynae who said these headaches and bizarre side effects appear to be quite common with Yasmin and has recommended me take another one and won't recommend Yasmin to any of her patients anymore!

A GP have me 8 Singulair tablets to trial for my 4 year old daughter to see if her night time cough would improve....(to determine if she may be asthmatic like me.) A month back I gave her a tablet at bedtime over 4 nights or so. She had a virus at the time, so I didn't think too much about her waking in the middle of the night very distressed, inconsolable etc. Tonight I gave her a tablet before bed, as her cough was quite persistent & I thought it may help her sleep. Well, she's woken up twice in the last 2 hours crying in her sleep and very distressed. Exactly the same way she did a month ago. I've just done a search of side effects and found this web page. Very interesting....I think the drug has definitely caused her to have night terrors and definitely won't be giving it to her again!!!

OMG, thank goodness I found this site and have been able to confirm my suspicions. I had my mirena inserted 5 months ago, god how excruciating. It wasn't long after I noticed how tired I was feeling. Non stop spotting, smelly awful brown discharge. I am finding it very hard to motivate myself at work, even workmates have said I'm just no myself and haven't been since I got the Mirena. I feel nausea every day, sore joints, TIRED TIRED TIRED...... and HUNGRY like I'm pregnant. I thought I was experiencing the start of menopause with hot flushes. I can't seem to concentrate on anything, constantly loosing things or cant find them. Not to mention the aching abdomen, the bloated stomach. I'm waiting for an appointment at the breast clinic because of constant breast pain... on and on it goes..
I went back to the Dr. who assured me it wasn't likely to be caused by the Mirena.... blah blah blah but I made an appointment today to get them to take it out... and tonight I'm glad I did after reading this site. Now I am totally convinced that the hormone levonorgestrel doesn't agree with me at all. Why won't the medical practitioners listen???? do they get paid a commission for each one they fit?? I'm not sure but listen to your bodies ladies and look after them.

I got mine put in on February 11. Since then I have been spotting non-stop until 8 days ago when I got my period. My periods are usually only 4 or 5 days but I won't stop bleeding. also the headaches are AWFUL. I always get bad headaches with my period, but I've had this horrible pounding headache for several days that won't respond to any medicines. Has anyone else had this??? I'm scared and don't know what to do. thanks!

I started Doxycycline about two weeks ago. The first week was great, my skin was clearing up nicely. Week two rolled around: I was not able to go to school for the first three hours of classes all this week. I would wake up, take a shower, get dressed, go to eat breakfast and would be hit with a wave of nausea and throw up. I've also slept more in the past week then I had all last month. I've been "snapping" at people for NO REASON. I've been yelling, sarcastic, and all around moody. My family has obviously not had a pleasant week with me on Doxycycline Hyclate. I was thrilled to find this web page because, honestly, I was getting pretty scared. I thought I was really sick.
Anyway, My skin looks great and now that I know what's causing the problems, I feel much better and will continue to use the medication.

All I can say is HOLY CRAP!!!!!!! I have had Mirena in for almost 16 months and let me tell you how RELIEVED I was to come across this web page! I have had TERRIBLE cramping, back pain, mental block, NO SEX DRIVE AT ALL, Pain during and after sex, indescribable mood swings, and can we say MENTAL BLOCK!!!!! It sounds crazy but I used to be able to handle daily stress with three children, my husband and our Business! Now I can go from a good mood to crying over MINOR things and we won't even talk about the major things (can we say mental ward!). I get headaches that put me down on the couch! I get lightheaded, heart races, and fell angry over nothing! I just thank GOD my husband is who he is because I have totally failed at my duties as a wife and as a parent when it comes to patience and understanding!!!! If I had to put a simple description on it I would say "It’s like being Pregnant 24/7!" I have to drive to accomplish things and I FEEL USELESS!!!!!!!! So obviously I also suffer from depression! I thought I was going out of my mind and now I am crying as I write because not only have I suffered through all this but it pisses me off to think how it’s effected my children and my husband! It’s coming out!!!!!!!ASAP

I have had the Merina for 4 years. I never had any problem with it...up untill now. Insertion was easy and my periods stayed regular. No problems at all. I even recommended it to all my friends. This last year I have had so much depression and phantom pregnancies. I keep thinking I am pregnant when I am not. I think my body is not agreeing with the hormones.

My friend had hers removed after 1 month due to weight gain.

My sister's started to fall out and now she is 6 months pregnant. She had it removed as soon as she found out she was preg.

I wanted to let you all know there is a link and phone number on the Merina website to report negative side effects to the FDA.

My daughter has Aloepecia Areata. Has anyone taken Kenalog to grow hair back. My doctors saying this may work and did mention about the dimpling effect. Not in the detail I read here, though. He made it sound like it would just be a dimple. I did not get the shot in his office, wanted to research some more. By the way, she is only a 11 yrs old. Not sure whether to try this stuff after reading all this.

I have depression and take medication for it, after taking Yasmin in combination with these drugs it was like i was not treating my depression at all. I became emotional, crying, I started to cut myself again, extremely tired, hopeless, I just felt horrible. My mother suggested It was the birth control and I came across this web page, thank you so much! it mentions briefly as a side effect but i was under the assumption it would be good for my PPMD, not make me worse
i also have god awful headaches

I am on the second week of the orange starter pack. It was prescribed for bipolar. After about the 3rd or 4th day of taking Lamictal, I noticed a side effect that I haven't seen mentioned elsewhere. I seem to stay in a permanent state of sexual arousal (In other words, horny). Has anyone else had this side effect and does it go away? Except for this, the Lamictal has helped my bipolar tremendously. Please help!!!

Is there any way to forward this posting web page to the FDA? All of these stories should be considered for part of the review process.

I have got to share my great news with anyone who will listen. My daughter has been Singulair free since Friday of last week. She has no idea that we are not giving her this pill at night and we haven't discussed any of our recent findings in front of her. In other words, she has no incentive to behave any differently than she ever has. The changes are so dramatic that at times it's hard for me to believe. On three different occasions today she made note of her positive change in mood (keep in mind she is 7). Right after school when she was going over some of her graded papers she pointed to a smiley face on her paper. She said, "Mommy, that's how I feel today." I replied, "That's great honey. Is there a reason why you are so happy today?" She stated, "I don't know why, I just am." Then a few hours later I overheard her talking to her younger brother at dinner say, "Will, I haven't cried at all today." Of course he didn't have much of a reply. Then at bedtime, she said, "This has been the best day ever!" These are all statements that quite honestly I have never heard her say before. It warms my heart to know that I do have a "normal" child in there. She's been on Singulair since she was 3, before she could verbalize many of her feelings. All we have known are negative, grumpy feelings and emotions.

But these are not the only changes we have noticed. I have had to wake her up for school the last two mornings in a row (hasn't happened since she began school). She has always been such a terrible sleeper and seems to never really get as much as she needs. She hasn't been so obessessive in the last two days about playing with her best friend. She actually asked if she could play cars with her younger brother instead of going to the park. She has eaten about half as much as she normally does. She has developed such a ferocious appetite that weight has become a huge problem. She has handled disappoints in stride when the same trigger would have totally set her off a few days ago. The list really does go on and on.

I can honestly say that the only thing that has changed is the absence of Singulair. I pray that I continue to discover more of my daughter's great qualities.

I have wondered so many times over the last few days, "What if I hadn't been listening to NPR?" I would have had no other reason to look into the matter further. All of our stories need to be told to the greater media. There are millions of children on this drug and based on this message board, millions of children sufferring negative side effects. Please join me in this crusade!

Wow, i just happened to see on the news that singuilar has these side effects. As i write this i can't stop from crying. My 8 year old son has been on sigular for a year and a half now. He has had fits if rage, feelings of wanting to die, leg pain, stomacher pain, almost every symptom others have had. I would stay up crying at night trying to figure out what was wrong with him or me as a parent. Shame on the doctors who should of known better. I went to his doctors and told them about his behavior and outburst and physical complaints. I was told it;s a phase he going through. My son would tell me his legs hurt when he walked, well i thought it was gowning pains like the doctors said. I am so glad i found this web page. I now know for sure it is the medication. I will now search for a better way to treat his asthma and allergy's. I hope and pray that others will find this web page and know there isn't anything wrong with us or our children, however there is certainly something wrong with our doctors who should of seen the symptoms and told us what it could of been.

I have been on Jolessa for 3 months now. As of now I have been experiencing this "breakthrough bleeding" for a full 2 months now. Once every two weeks I have mild cramping and I have gained at least 10-15 lbs. Each time I call the doctor I am told to give it a little while longer and that if I am still bleeding by 4th month that we will have to do something else. Also I am told to take 3 Advils 3 times a day as well and eat a lot of food filled with iron and protein (for energy). I am tired all the time, headaches and unusually depressed. I cry at the drop of a hat too. I am not happy about this at all and all of this was to control the bad cramping and clotting of the regular 7-10 day periods I was having. Any suggestions out there? Each Birth Control Method I click on on this web page seems to have the similar side effects. Is there any relief from this?

I am a female taking narcotic pain medication due to a back injury. Those pills make it hard to pee. My doc put me on Flomax to help me empty my bladder. I have had swollen sinus every night when I sleep. I have extreme elbow, wrist and finger pain that lasts all day/night long. My legs and knees are very stiff and sore. If I stand on my feet for more than a couple of minutes, my soles ache. I feel extremely tired and exhausted. DO NOT TAKE THIS DRUG!! Now that I am off of it, my retention problem is worse than ever before. I wish I would have seen this web page before starting this horrible drug.

my son was prescribed Singulair melts to put in food for allergies. on day two he has developed a cough that will not stop, a fever and was up before the sun this morning also a bad dream last night. after giving him Tylenol for the fever and Elysium for the cough it hit me that he just finished antibiotics so i checked the web for side effects. i was never told by our family doctor about ANY side effects. i am outraged and he will not be taking this toxic drug ever again. i know my experience is small compared to most of the other stories on this web page but these are our children, our pride and joy why do we want to give them toxic drugs for a runny nose or sneezing and in return we get sleepless, cranky, devil children with night terrors? i think something should be done to stop this drug from being given to any child. what kind of world do we live in? i am appalled at the doctors for letting this happen.

I have been receiving Kenalog injections in my deltoid for allergies from my m.d. each fall for the past 4 years with no incident. Six weeks ago, Nov. 19 2007 I went in for the same symptoms and received the same injection of Kenalog in my deltoid once again. This time it seemed to be unusually painful but I thought it was just poor placement of the needle and did not think much of it. Now after six weeks I have developed a depression/ indentation in my shoulder at the site of injection that has grown to the size of a golf ball and is lumpy and soft even when I flex the muscle. It also has discoloration with splotches on the skin. It still aches and is getting more painful. After visiting my doc. today he seems concerned and claims he has no idea what it is and is sending me to the labs for more testing. In the mean time this is very strange and costly. After finding this web page it makes me wonder how could he have no clue as to this side effect? I am a otherwise healthy 30 year old male, except now I have a very weird looking shoulder.

I'm so glad I googled side effects of Yasmin and found this site. All of the sudden my mood swings for the past almost YEAR make sense. I started out fine. The pill was great, and I haven't had to worry about acne at all. Of course I gained a few pounds, but not too much. However, I'm a pre medical student trying to study for the MCAT this summer. I've been SO tired and drained and majorly depressed that I just can't seem to concentrate. I feel like I'm always crying over the stupidest stuff (AKA: no reason at ALL), and my grades are starting to suffer. Hopefully now that I've read this, I can stop taking this pill and see an improvement. It's just not worth the depression. I'm 22 right now, and until recently had never had a suicidal thought. I was starting to panic, because I couldn't identify the cause of my depression. I'm a good student, have lots of friends, and have the most amazing boyfriend and family. Life is good, I shouldn't feel this bad. Now that I have a clue as to what this may be, I can fix it.

I was on Lisinopril for 1 1/2 years (20 mg), and I seemed to have retention of water with other urinary problems, such as darker color, etc. My doctor said that this is not the case, but a friend who is a good doctor in Mexico said that urinary problems were a complication. This was without my saying anything along that line.

I cannot say that all my problems came from Lisinopril, but I was getting sick at every turn: I had coldness in my legs and feet; my heart just gave me fits as it palpitated or whatever out of order; other symptoms!

My doctor did concede and take me off the L because of the congestion/cough problem I had developed. It was not extreme, but I had never had that before.

I now take enelypryl morning and night. I was on that before the L and did not have side effects. I feel so different now after just 10 days or so.
