I've been on Ortho Evra patch for a couple years. Absolutely loved it. My symptoms of moodiness were almost nonexistent, periods were very regular , brief and light, breasts were growing a bit and tender sometimes, but it did not bother me too much. I did not notice any big weight changes, no cramps or pain. The best thing about it was not needing to remember to take it everyday like a pill. The only drawback was that the patch could move, slide, fall off, bend, or leave a black glue stain on skin or clothes, but you learn how to deal with it after while. Then I switched to another insurance and patch became awfully expensive. After that I started hearing of all the legal issues involved and terrible side effects, and was happy I got off of it, although it never caused me any problems personally.

Like everyone else, I'm so glad that I found this site. I've been taking YAZ for 9 months and everything was fine/normal for the first 4 months. I didn't have any side effects, mood or weight changes. However, my arms/legs were painful when I slept at night about 5 months ago. I didn't pay too much attention but then I noticed that I started getting some celliute on my upper thighs/butt about 4 months ago. Still, I though it was just a sigh of aging and trying to put on creams etc to smooth it out....... However, after a month or two later, I started getting spider veins (just a few at first) on my upper legs/thighs and that really freak me out because I've never had anything like that before. I tried to think what was going on until I checked out this website. All these might be caused by YAZ.
In addition, taking Vitamin C supplement might worsen the situation. You can find more information under drug interaction section in the following website:-
(http://www.riteaid.com/pharmacy/monographs/drug_search.jsf).
"drugs that may increase blood levels of this drug (e.g., acetaminophen, ascorbic acid/vitamin C, atorvastatin, azole antifungals such as itraconazole/ketoconazole/vaginal miconazole). "
I don't know how this affect other people but I got more ugly spider veins since I started taking a supplement which contain Vitamin C about 3 weeks ago. I just stop taking that today and I will stop YAZ all togeter after I finish the cycle.
Please do pay more attention to your body and think twice before taking YAZ ....

From what I have just read, my huge weight gain (35 lbs) in 15 months is probably a side effect. My doctor doesn't think it is from this medication, but it is the only thing that I have been doing that is different. I will stop taking the med to see if the weight changes. If it doesn't, then I will have to look deeper into the weight gain.

Yaz was a nightmare for me.
-- By jemmccar | Reply | (1) replies | Private Message meI had been on birth control for several years, and had minor symptoms, but they were tolerable and mostly physical- ie, some bloating, headaches, etc. But Yaz came with more mental/emotional side effects than I ever thought possible.
The worst has been the depression/anxiety. I always considered myself happy and laid back... this pill made me an emotional train wreck. In the middle of the day, I would usually be fine, but in the mornings and at night, I felt much different- very sad, anxious, irritable. Nothing was triggering this- everything was going fine in my life, no reason to be depressed. Most mornings I would just wake up very sad and hopeless, wanting to cry, but not sure why. Then later in the day, I would think back and wonder "why was I so upset?". It was the strangest thing. I felt tired most of the time, loss of motivation, loss of "zest for life". The things that I usually LIKED to do, I had no interest in. It was tough.
In addition to the crazy mental nonsense, I also experienced hot flashes- especially at night and in the first couple hours of waking up. No weight changes that I noticed. Headaches often. Anxiety often.
Ugh. I stopped taking Yaz about 3 weeks ago, and I feel like my hormone levels are still out of whack.
