Well, welcome to the club! I had the Mirena IUD put in on Dec. 3, 2008 and I'm having it removed ASAP! I was in so much pain with cramps it felt like I was in labor again!! I couldn't figure out what was wrong with me....my hand felt like it was sprain as well as numb, this same pain shot all the way up my arm into my chest. Let's not forget about the anxiety and not being able to sleep. I ended up going to emergency room and didn't figure it out until after I left the hospital that it was the IUD. My heart started to beat rapidly which I never had before and also backaches, headaches, dizziness and nausea. This was enough to make me believe I'm pregnant again. You are not by yourself, but I'm having it removed ASAP and getting my tubes tied!!!!! I would have never guessed it was my IUD......I thought it was something else going on as I have always been healthy. I was working full time and going to schoo full time, thinking all of the hard work had caught up - NOT!!! It was the IUD, so if you have one - get it removed because it's not worth it. I'm taking my old self back this week and getting it removed!!!

I had the Mirena inserted six months ago. Since then I have noticed a huge change in myself. I am very moody and irritated all the time. I feel depressed most days and want to lie around all day. I have no motivation or real care for the important things (ie, laundry, dishes, housework). I feel like I'm on really bad hormonal rampage 24/7. I wake every morning with a headache. I have no interest in sex. I don't feel turned on and could care less if I ever got it. I have not experienced any weight gain, thank goodness. I am easily overwhelmed by the tiniest things. I have three children and it's all I can do to tolerate them each day, which is so unlike me. I do not have ringing in my ears, but I am very sensitive to loud noises and get easily aggravated by toys that make noise and loud laughter. (Not good for a stay at home Mom) I have thoughts of throwing and breaking stuff due to my frustration and I have no idea what I'm really frustrated at. I am definitely a different person since the Mirena was put in. Also, I have been having really bad pain in my wrists. They almost feel sprained. I am having it removed ASAP. I miss the old me. It's been so long, I've forgotten how to be happy and have a wonderful sex life with my husband and have fun with my children. I will be having a tubal. Bad periods, to me, is way better than a chemical imbalance due to hormones. The headaches alone are enough to make me go insane. I have done lots of reading on Wild Yam. For all you ladies that have bad periods and are using the Mirena to fix it... look into Wild Yam. It's suppose to lighten the flow and symptoms of a period and boost your natural sex drive. Most importantly it's NOT a drug.
Good Luck to you all!

I am a 50 year old woman and have been taking Lipitor for about the last 6 months. I have developed a severe case of eczema on my scalp as well as hair loss. Also I have been having pain in my hips. I never would have attributed my symptoms to Lipitor, but now I am thinking that maybe Lipitor is the cause of them. Also I read in some of the comments that it may be connected to memory loss. I have noticed I have a hard time remembering things too but never thought it could be related to taking Lipitor.

WoW! I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO glad I found this website!
I had been taking Lisinopril HCTZ 10-12.5 once daily since April of this year. I was on Labetalol 200mg/2x's daily as I developed Hypertension during my pregnancy. Once I delivered my baby I was then switched to Lisinopril HCTZ by my primary care physician.
The Lisinopril did wonders for my blood pressure but by mid-June I started having side effects. I went to my doctor numerous times and then to the ER since I thought I was having a heart attack. The ER doctor suggested that I was having panic attacks or just symptoms from the cold I had. So, I went to my primary doctor and she immediately jumped and gave me Prozac. Never once did either doctor ever link the symptoms to the Lisinopril.
My symptoms included:
*Light Headed
*Dizziness
*COUGH COUGH COUGH!!!!!!!!
*EXTREME DIARRHEA - Everything I ate or drank came out like water almost immediately!
*Chest Pain and pain down into my left arm and fingers
*Chills
*Blurred Vision
*Rapid Heartbeat
*Cold/Sweaty Feet
*Sweating
*Bloated Feeling
*Tight/Itchy Skin
*Rash on chest 2x's
*Nausea
*****Panic attacks and feeling like I was going crazy!!!!!******
Upon finding this website Friday, August, 22nd, I went to my doctor and told her NO MORE was I taking this medication! It's POISON! I am now taking Ziac 5/6.25 once daily. Ziac like Labetalol is a Beta Blocker rather than an ACE Inhibitor and may not be as effective but I sure would rather this than Lisinopril.
I am still experiencing some of the side effects of the Lisinopril but I am hoping that they will deminish soon. PLEASE!!
I, like a lot of others have mentioned on this website felt like I was loosing my mind. I felt like I couldn't explain all the things I was feeling because some of the feelings just didn't come out right and did make me sound crazy. At one point my doctor told me it was "all between my ears!" Okay?!?!?
I hope this has helped others and I plan on making a complaint on the FDA website, this medication needs to be removed from the pharmacies! It's poison!
If anyone knows how long the side effects last after stopping this medication I would surely appreciate the info!

I stumbled onto this site while trying to find a reason for these headaches I get sometimes for no" apparent" reason. Imagine my surprise to find your testimonies about your lives on warfarin sodium. At 38, I had surgery to repair a congenital defect of the aortic valve and had to have a hema-shield graph to repair an aneurysm of the aorta. That was in Oct.2002. Warfarin has been a part of my life since then. I was also put on anti-depressants because my family Dr. thought I was depressed since I repeatedly complained of not feeling well.(I took myself off the anti-depressants a couple of years ago.) Extreme fatigue , serious memory issues, thinning hair, dizzy spells and numerous other ailments continue to plague me.Add to that a large weight gain ...and, well, you get the picture. If anyone knows of an alternative to taking this "poison", PLEASE, PLEASE let me know. I just WANT MY LIFE BACK!!! I actually cried after reading this blog. As I explained to my husband, I suppose it was from the sheer relief of knowing I was not going insane!!!

I had Mirena put in at my 6 week post because I had been pregnant for 2 years and the Dr. said, "NO MORE FOR AT LEAST A YEAR!!" (My babies are 11 months apart). I was really excited about it and a girlfriend at my church had one put in a few months before me. She LOVES it. It's doing really well for her. As for me, my Dr. gave me a local to block the pain. I only felt some cramps afterward. I have an extremely high tolerance for pain...even in labor, the nurses laugh at me because my contractions spike and I'm just sitting there like nothing's happening. But back to Mirena...I bleed for a month and a half, which the Dr. said I might. Things were okay, but I started bleeding again just one week after I had stopped. That lasted for 3 weeks. Off for one week before starting up again. That one only lasted for about two weeks and then it was gone for OVER A MONTH! I thought, yeah!! It's working!! But by the end of the 5th week I was racing to the pharmacy to get a pregnancy test because I was terrified that I was pregnant and didn't want to go through having a miscarriage (read the stats on getting pregnant with it in...up to 75% chance of miscarrying in your 2nd trimester!) I was pregnant and started my period a few days later which lasted for two weeks...After that it was off for a week before I started spotting...That annoying, not bleeding enough to wear a tampon, so you're chained to panty liners...Arghhh. When that finally stopped for a few days, it was time for my period again, which I'm on now.
Dispite the annoying bleeding I've experienced the following:
Ovarian Cysts (Ladies, if you've never had a cyst before, the sharp/burning/stabbing pain you're experiencing over your ovaries are called cysts...welcome to the club...I had them LONG before I went on BC)
These cyst are so bad that I have doubled over, on the floor and had to have my 7 year old call my husband home from work. I've fallen to the floor with my 6 month old in my arms because they hit so suddenly and sharply (remember my high tolerance for pain??)
Dizziness
Heart racing/irregular heart beats/pounding
chest pain
loss of breath
loss of feeling in my legs
tingling in my arms
headache (severe)
acne
mild weight gain
no sex drive
SEVERE mood swings (I took my kids and left my husband-moved in with my mom- because the air conditioner broke and he wasn't there to fix it...where was husband?? At work. Duh, how could he fix it if he was out there supporting our family.
I have endometriosis and it has made my symptoms worsen.
I'm going to make an appointment to talk with my doctor about it. Fortunately for me, he's VERY understanding. I'll probably have it taken out.
HOWEVER....
It DOES work for some people. So please don't group EVERYBODY in the same category...It is a good product, it's just not for everyone (like the girl in my church who LOVES hers...it's working very well with NO side effects).
Good luck and God bless everyone who it ISN"T working for!! :)

OK guys, I have been reading all your side effects for a couple of weeks now, and finally decided to jump into this pot! You will not believe this, but I have been on Diovan 80 mg twice a day along with a couple of other blood pressure medications. It's been about 2 years, maybe a little less, and for the past 10-12 months, I have complained to my doctor that my joints and muscles ache so much that I feel like a 100 year old person. I also have has every side effect mentioned on the 9 pages listed here with all of you. I have had every test imaginable for artery's/veins/muscles/joints/sleeplessness/hair loss/weight gain/swollen ankles...you name it, I've been tested for it. They can find nothing wrong with me at all. NOTHING! I'm sure they feel that it's all in my head, since I've been quite sensitive to a lot of meds. in the past!
I am usually very active and run around like a crazy woman most of the time, but I was absolutely walking like I'd been hit by a truck. I went to my doctor with all of the complaints listed under Diovan printed out, and believe me, she took notice. We stopped Diovan that night and I started on a couple of new meds. that have absolutely no side effects. It will be two weeks this coming Wednesday (June 4) and I am almost a new person. I'd say, about 98% pain free. I actually felt relief after being off for about 5 days. It's getting better day by day. I actually feel that this stuff was killing me slowly. Get off asap!
By the way, I tried to look up the new meds, and they are so new that I can't find anything. For me, they are an answer to prayer.

Wow! I have been on Vytorin for 7 months. About a month after starting this poison, I had a panic attack. Scared me to death. I have been working with my Dr. to find the root of this new found anxiety. After reading these threads, it sounds to me like the Vytorin may be to blame. I also have a clay colored stool and have 2-3 bowel movements a day.

I've used 3 different kinds of birth control, and my advice is--STICK WITH IT! :) Any hormonal birth control is going to give you some side effects, and they're going to be different for everyone. That's why there are so many different kinds we can try. But you have to give it time! Never switch types of hormonal birth control if you've been on it less than 3 or 4 months, unless of course you've got the dangerous side effects that are really rare (like heart attack, blood clots, severe depression, etc.). Hormones are really complicated, and it TAKES TIME for your body to get used to them.
Have you been on Aviane less than 3 months and you've got: breast tenderness, increase in acne, weight gain, decrease in sex drive, headaches, nausea, mild depression, mood swings, irritability, breakthrough bleeding, cramps, increased appetite, problems with your contacts, etc.? Welcome to the club. :) I PROMISE that most (if not all) of these will go away by the time you're on your third or fourth period, and you get so used to the ones that are left that they don't really even impact your life anymore. If after 3-4 months you've still got side effects that are really impacting your lifestyle, that's when you need to go to your doctor and talk about other options. It really is a trial and error kind of thing, but you have to be patient! Birth control isn't like popping a pill when you've got a headache--it's a commitment, something you have to really stick with if you want the benefits (like no babies!). Pay attention to what your body needs, of course, but if you're going to take hormonal birth control, you kind of have to pay a price for a few months first.
But hey, birth control really is great. It's so much easier than trying to worry about condoms or diaphragms or other kinds of barrier birth control (can you say "kills the moment?"). And there are good side effects, too--shorter, lighter, less painful periods (over time), etc.
Good luck! Stick with it!

Against my wishes and not telling me the truth while I was in the hospital, a doctor was giving me steroids/prednisone. I began to lose weight and find it very frightening as I have never heard of anyone losing weight on prednisone. Everyone complains of weight gain. Even though I am now off the Prednisone I am having a difficultl time maintaining my weight. I just am unable to gain and too frightened to tell the doctor, afraid of what they may find. This weight loss started while on the Prednisone (shots, then pills). I cannot find anywhere where weight loss is a side effect. Has anyone else ever heard of this? I found a few references and they pertained to cancer, which is why I am frightened. I know I did not have this problem until I was given Prednisone.

I have been on Yasmin for a month now and I have developed acne (I had severe acne two years ago but roacutane cleared this up). I also have dry lighter pigmentation marks on the tops of my arms.
