i posted in august but am reposting with more information on how to report your side effects to the FDA .It is a site called Medwatch.com and they want to know these adverse reaactions. We are the people that lost our son to a suicide after he was given this drug for 17 days. Our son was a lovable well adjusted soon to be 16 year old .He had a terrible advers reaction to this drug having extreme anxiety, moodiness, agitation and depression. We did not of course have the proper knowledge about this drug to know that he was having an adverse event. We are working with our local senator and assemblywoman to contact a Dr Malson at the FDA he is the director of research and drug evaluation. The information pamplet from the pharmacy did not mention these side effects or we would have realized what was happening. We are trying to get a black box warning on the drug to let people especially parents of children know exactly what this drug is capable of.TAKE ACTION AND CONTACT THE FDA THIS IS HOW A DRUG GETS REEVALUATED!We wish we had found this site while our beautiful boy was still alive .Our child had a normal life and no emotional problems and after taking this poison he had a complete psychological breakdown, the address to writ aletter to tell your story is Steven K.Malson,MD,MPH Director Center For Drug Evaluation and Research Food and Drug Administration 5600 Fishers Lane Rockville, Maryland 20857. PLEASE HELP THIS DRUG NEEDS SPECIAL LABELING

My 7 year old daughter has been taking Singulair for 3 weeks (as well as Claritin). She has been very nervous, complains about headaches, feels like she's in a dream, irritable, cries, can't control her anger, hard time breathing when she gets upset, worried about aches and pains and said sometimes she feels likes she's dying. She's always been a perfect, well-adjusted, pleasant child. This has completely suprised me that she feels this way! I talked to her doctor who said to take her to a psychologist. I have just read the side effects others have reported on this site and WILL IMMEDIATELY STOP THE SINGULAIR! I pray she starts feeling like herself again soon! It's hard seeing her this way!

Hello Ladies,

I haven't posted on this site for about 2 years but thought I'd re-tell my story for anyone new who is suffering the debilitating effects of Yasmin...particluraly those searching the net to try an understand what is wrong with them.

So here goes...I had been on Yasmin for a year and a half with no obvious side effects (was 27 at the time). If anyone had asked me what I thought of it during this time, I'd have sung it's praises. Then after this time my world came crashing down around me. I started having major panic attacks, vertigo, disturbing/irrational/suicidal thoughts, and depression. I lost about 7kg over 3 weeks...became a recluse...a shell of my former self. Prior to this I have always been a healthy well adjusted, and most of all positive person who had every reason to go on being happy. I had no history whatso ever of the above conditions...it is for these reasons I began researching (at the same time starting seeing a psychologist as I was sure I had developed a late onset mental illness)...My family were in great distress as there seemed to be no explanation for my sudden and obvious decline.

One day I was absolutely desperate...I prayed for help whilst I was on my computer and it suddenly occured to me (gift from above) to look up 'Yasmin side effects'...I found this website and my life changed. I still remembering crying into the screen as I read other women's stories describing in detail what I had been going through. I immediately stopped taking Yasmin. Within 4 days my depression lifted, as did the vertigo.

It has now been 2 years since I stopped Yasmin. Every month off Yasmin you start to feel remnants of your true self return. Anxiety has been the most difficult ongoing struggle since Yasmin, but that has improved 99%. I have been seeing a naturopath to help my body recover...as the other ladies have mentioned Yasmin depletes your body of so many vital nutrients. It also takes a while for your hormones to re-balance.

In the first 6 months off Yasmin I relied on reading posts from this site to get me through it. I am always heartened by the support I received from complete strangers during this tough time. I see my life as 'pre and post Yasmin' now....I am a much stronger person because of it...by far the most challenging and terrifying time of my life. But I would not wish my experience on my worst enemy. I emailed every woman I know my story and asked that they pass it on to every woman they know in turn...we need to broadcast that this pill is pure poison. There should be no debating to be done if you are thinking of or are on Yasmin...stop taking it immediately, and get help in the recovery process.

I wish everyone a blessed and healthy 2007.

Good luck and big hugs xxx

My daughter is 8 1/2 yrs old. She has been on Singulair, Advair 250, Zyrtec and Zantac for 1 1/2 years. While her asthma is very controlled, she is having side effects. She was a wonderful student and so happy. Within the last month she began having anxiety attacks. Small things that normally were no issue now make her cry. Within the last week, she cries anytime her mind is not occupied by tv, etc. Tonight she began shallow breathing while saying she was scared of monsters. I now must sleep & stay with her at all times. She cannot even go to school. This is a very smart , well adjusted child and I am certain 1 or a combination of the above medications have brought this on. Her other side effects were constipation, weight gain, stomache pain, blurry vision.

My daughter started taking Yasmin last year just before her 15th birthday. She is normally a happy well adjusted teenager, with the normal worries and anxietys. Sometime durng this year she started having horrible panic/anxiety attacks, which included uncontrollable crying, hyperventillating, having terrible thoughts, saying hostile things she regretted to people she loves. I have been called to pick her up from school, and leave work or other appt. THey seem to be cyclical, about 10 days before her period. She even started seeing a therapist and we werer getting ready to puther on an SSRI. THen I started thinking about Yasmin--and went on line to research the side effects, when I found this website. She had another attack this weekend, so we are going to the therapist this morning and then the gyno on THursday. I am definitely taking her off this pill.
