I started on Lisinopril 3 weeks ago and have had increasing problems ever since. First, I got the cough, which I was warned about by my pharmacist and my doctor. I also started having sudden, sharp pains in the toes of my right foot, like I was having an electric shock. I also had several severe leg cramps. Then my right knee started hurting and I had not injured it in any way. I have also had very severe burning eyes, that I atributed to allergies. My ankles also stay very swollen, something that has never happened before. Within the last week I have experienced extreme shortness of breath, tiredness beyond belief, a feeling that I could lay down whereever I am at the moment and go to sleep. I had no energy whatsoever, zero. last night I went to bed at 6:00pm and got up this morning at 9:30 am that's 15-1/2 hours! That signaled the end of my taking Lisinopril, I am not taking any other medication, so that has to be the culprit.
It is now 1:20 in the afternoon and as I did not take the lisinopril this morning, I feel much, much better as far as my energy level is concerned. We will have to wait and see if any other side effects appear or disappear, I'll let you know.
I am going to print out a lot of the comments on this forum and take them to my doctor and pharmacist.

Okay I was put on Yasmin for PCOS PolypCystic Ovary Syndrome. I started it 2 weeks and 4 days ago.
I now realize that since starting this pill, I have become depressed & feel really drained of energy, sometimes short of breath, & light-headed. I also get these painful headaches that don't go away for a long time! I am tired ALL the time. I tend to just fall asleep whenever or whereever sometimes! I have really really really bad cramps that I feel I could bend a steel bar if given one! My lower back is hurting really bad when I have cramps. I am supposed to skip the sugar pills and continue taking another box instead of the regular use of the pills. I am going to call the doctor tomorrow and demand a new prescription! I can't handle the pain anymore! I had to step down from my job from it! Now that I have read some of the other women's comments and my Husband has too he agrees in calling the doctor for new medicine.

But your body needs rest right now so that it can keep up with hormonal demands. I think you understand. I think you were taking good care of your body and when you started to feel better, you started to do too much:) This is a common response though, I am guilty of the same thing. Remember you need your tank to be full before your body wont feel the effects of increased stress and activity in day to day life, and it sounds like yours is a busy one!
YES! I think it would be beneficial for you to get your hormones checked still, if you find the right doctor I think you may find you will be feeling better much faster. Try googling or yahoo bioidentical doctors in (whereever you live), or sometimes they are listed under anti-aging doctors. But if you do end up going to your gynecologist again when they test your hormones again, ask for a copy of the last report and get a copy of the report they do again so that you can compare the results to the last. This will give you an idea of which hormones have come up and which have not.
Last thing also a long time ago I gave you this website which has lots of hormone teaching on it. I think you would find it very informative... salivatest.com... look under hormones 101.
Ok Silke, take care, and remember to eat right, REST, and take time out for yourself! OK. I take a B complex vitamin with vit. C in it for stress ( I think you said you were taking these vitamins as well.) Drink lots of water and little to no caffeine ( caffeine stresses the adrenal glands) but I think you are already doing this too. Oh and also Silke I was reading back one of your earlier posts you said your face was swollen and a neighbor asked if you were taking a medication because you looked hormonal, I experienced this too especially on my face, it would feel swollen and almost like I had a sunburn and mushy too!
Well take care and keep in touch,
BitterRN
