I just started it yesterday, 3 doses of Advair discus in combo with methylprednisolone to treat this "post viral asthma".
Every time I take these meds, i experience tightness in my chest, difficulty breathing and a constant tickle in my throat leading me to cough a lot sometimes so much that i almost vomit.

Cannot handle this anymore. Need advice. Thank you

I have had a chronic dry cough for the past 5 years. Now they are saying I have whooping cough. I have been taking Clarithromyn ER TB 500 mg. the generic for Biaxin XL 500 mg. Last night I had to go to the ER. I felt like I was having a heart attack. I could not catch my breath, my left arm was tingling, kind of going numb. Also felt like I might pass out. On the way to the ER I was trembling, and very jittery. I felt very STRANGE!!!!!! The ER said it was just a panic attack. I have never had panic attacks!!! The past few day I have been telling my co-workers how I felt like my throat was closing up. I am calling the doctor today to see about not finishing my last 4 days of the medicine. I am glad I found this site to see that other people have experienced the same symptoms and I am not going crazy.

IM trying to figure out if Boniva is causing me to have severe eczema on my hands and feet; palms and soles. I am 58 yrs old and never had this happen before. I began taking Boniva in late Nov 2007. Followed directions carefully. The first week I STARTED TO HAVE the flu like symptoms and fatigue lasted well into january and also seemed to lose a sense OF TASTE FO R FOOD AND DRINK. JAN17TH -FEB 2 GOT AN AWFUL FLU THAT LASTED ABOUT 5 DAYS. 102 FEVER, MUSCLE ACHES, PAIN, JUST AWFUL. THEN MISSED TEN DAYS AT WORK BECAUSE IT TURNED INTO A SERIOUS BRONCHIAL/ UPPER RESPIRATORY INFECTION- I FELT LIKE I HAD WHOOPING COUGH.THE DOC GAVE ME A REALLY STRONG ANTIBIOTIC-( CLARITHROMYCIN ) AND IT TOOK ME UNTIL MID MARCH TO FEEL LIKE MY SELF. NOTE; I HAVE NOT MISSED MORE THAN A DAY OF WORK FOR SICKNESS IN OVER TEN YEARS.)drink. The taste buds seem to have come back but WHEN I TAKE THE BONIVA PILL I FEEL FLU LIKE AGAIN- FOR ABOUT THREE-FIVE DAYS.
ALL OF THIS WAS BAD ENOUGH BUT I CHALKED IT UP TO FLU SEASON ETC' THEN IN MID MARCH I STARTED TO HAVE A TERRIBLE CASE OF ECZEMA ON THE SOLES OF MY FEET AND PALMS OF MY HANDS, IT IS REALLY CHRONIC AND VERY PAINFUL. I HAVE TO SLATHER MY HANDS AND FEET WITH VASELENE EVERY NIGHT .AND HAVE BEEN TAKING PROBIOTICS AND L-LYSINE FOR THE PAST MONTH WHICH DOES SEEMS TO BE HELPING- BUT NOW I'M WONDERING IF THE SKIN CONDITION IS A SIDE EFFECT FROM THE BONIVA? FIRST THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE THE CLARITHROMYCIN. BUT I HAVE A GUT FEELING ITS THE BONIVA/ ANY IDEAS?

April 10, 2005- I was exposed to what is a suspected case of whooping cough and developed the symptoms quickly. I went in and was given something like tetracycline for 10 days. I was still coughing violently at the end and so went back in. A young doctor gave me Levaquin and I took 3 or 4 of the pills but developed a back ache and went in. That doctor x-rayed me to make sure I hadn't cracked ribs from coughing so hard. I hadn't. He put me on a different antibiotic. Within 3-4 days I went into the ER because I had one of my coughing attacks (they're violent and you can't inhale because a rubbery-like phlegm get stucks in your windpipe and your body tries everything to expell it!) As I coughed that time I suddenly felt a horrible pain, like something exploded deep inside my back, not a surface muscle. A separate pain started and that was a slow, burning, tearing feeling. I've never felt such intense pain. I couldn't raise my legs to sit in our car and so we called the ambulance. The ER md was more interested in my lungs and found that I did have some pneuonia as well, gave me morphine so that I could sleep for 24 hours, and told me to continue the antibiotics. He also told me to go ahead and finish out the Levaquin as well! And stupidly I did. I had pain from the tendon and whatever tear in my back for months. I couldn't sleep easily. I ended up having pneumonia again in Nov. 2005 and the coughing made that injury hurt again. This year I have Achilles tendonitis in both legs and fasciitis in one foot. I don't know how long it takes for Levaquin to clear out of the body and I also don't know if these symptoms are related to taking Levaquin last year. In looking back, I think it's odd that you'd prescribe a medicine that has the adverse effect of ruptured tendons and the like to a person that is having violent coughing for weeks on end. There were times during what we think was Pertussis, that I was coughing with that spasmodic type of cough 8 times a night and regular coughing every 5 minutes or more. If anyone was going to experience the adverse side effect, it would be a person using muscles repeatedly and violently! Don't you think???
I am so angry about all of this.

I have been complaining to my Doctor about prolonged coughing that has lasted over 8 months. The cough is so bad that it causes me to vomit periodically. I was put on two different antibiotics told that I may have whooping cough and the only thing that helped the cough was tussinex cough medicine that was very expensive. Whooping cough was ruled out by health department. I told the doctor I could not keep taking the cough medicine so he tried another cough medicine that did not help. A friend told me yesterday that he knew a friend that had a similar cough caused by his blood pressure medicine so I came home and started researching the net and found this site that has really opened my eyes. I called my doctor but he has not returned my call yet. After reading this information I may have had another side effect of this medication Lisinopril of which I felt like I was going to pass out sitting at my computer one day. I hope that I find out the cough was caused by this medicine because it has literally wore me out coughing so much. I have pulled abdomen muscles from coughing so hard and told the doctor but he has never mentioned it could be related to Lisinopril.

Came down with whooping cough 7 weeks ago.
Took antibiotic after antibiotic, nothing touched the shortness of breath or the wheezing tight whooping cough I had.
My dogs vet heard my cough and couldn't believe the 3 doctors I had been to see hadn't started prednisone yet.
Started on 5.0 mgs that same day. Cough is almost gone and I can actually breath again.
Thought I had a few side effects, blurry vision, sweats, etc. Told myself it was all in my head from reading articles and peoples experiences/side-effects from the stuff.
Just like that, side effects gone. Has anyone thought about the placebo effect? or Psychosomatic side-effects?
Personally, I think this stuff is a wonder drug. But then again, I value being able to breath! Bet the asthmatic community's would agree with me.

I am a 34 year old male who has been given biaxin 500mg 2x daily for whooping cough. I do feel better with the cough, but I feel like my insides are coming out of the other end of me! And just a terrible bitter taste in my mouth, like right before you throw up. I am also on singulair which has similar symptoms of jitters and mood swings, along with dizziness etc. This is really strong stuff, I am very fatigued.

I am a 34 year old male and have been on singulair for a few days. It makes me very fatigued and jittery and like others here have stated it feels like I am on a strong stimulant, and I have an elevated heart rate. I am having a terrible time sleeping at night, last night I slept for two hours total. I am recovering from a severe respiratory infection possibly whooping cough so my options are limited, I really need to breath which this medication does let me do, but I can't imagine what a young child must go through with these side effects, just terrible.

I took Levaquin for 10 days for whooping cough. After day 7, I woke up with muscular aches all over, most in my extremeties, also shoulder pain. After reading all your stories, I'm very concerned as to when the pain will go away.
