I have an 8y.o. daughter that has been on Singulair for about 3 years now. Since she started taking singulair she has been absolutely miserable! She cries at everything, is very moody, has leg pains, wont leave my side and is tired ALL the time. She has circle under her eyes, she looks like she hasn't slept a wink in days! She has been off her Singulair for about 5 days now and she is a totally different person. She has been "happy-go-lucky" and full of herself, she has even woke up happy (which hasn't happened in I dont know how long). She was put on Singulair by our Doctor b/c she had Pnemonia two times in a row. She has Allergies and Asthma and for the past 3 years has been on: Singulair (4mg), albuterol, flovent, Zyrtec, and Flonase. That is just too much for a little girl to be on. She hardly eats at all, gets headaches. I just see such a difference when she is not on it but, what will she take in place of this? My husband also takes Singulair (he is miserable all the time), he doesnt sleep at night and is always tired. Anyone have alternative to this drug?

Took my first dose on Wednesday 11/12/08, and felt amazing. I could not believe how much better I felt when I got up Thursday morning. Took my second dose around lunch time, and noticed that by Thursday night I wasn't feeling too well. Had a hard time sleeping Thursday night as my legs were bothering me. Called the Dr. this morning, as I felt like I might be having some side effects. Wants to see me tomorrow to make sure I'm not having tendon problems. Legs feel weird...just a rubbery feeling, and some mild pain. Makes me feel like I have to move them. Also, felt jittery upon waking this morning. Can't sleep...wake up at 4:30am - 5:30am and can not get back to sleep. I just want to get well, and they give me a medicine that should not be prescribed unless other antibiotics have not worked, and then be supervised the entire time on the medicine. I am so mad, I can't see straight! Now I have to waste more time, going back to the Dr. (not my usual Dr. BTW...I had to go to a "walk in" clinic because I couldn't get into see my normal Dr. soon enough), so that he can tell me my legs are fine, and write me another stupid presciption! I've been dealing with trying to get some meds for almost a week now! CRAZY! Not to mention this crap is really expensive! $60 for 10 stinkin' pills. Would of been $160 if I didn't have insurance. That's a lot of money down the drain! Guess I'm glad I never took my 3rd dose of this stuff, or I might of done some serious damage! DO NOT TAKE THIS...IT'S NOT WORTH THE RISK!!!!!!!!

I put the NUVARING in yesterday morning. By last night, I was feeling not quite myself--my appetite was gone. I didn't sleep a wink last night and this morning, I woke up so nauseated and so sick, that I couldn't go to work (that cost me $100). I had a sore throat, headache, stomach pains, and extreme nausea. Once I pulled through the worst of it and could sit in a chair in front of my computer, I started searching on line and found this forum. After reading, I pulled the darn thing out (that cost me another $60 since my insurance didn't cover it). I fell asleep for a couple of hours and now I feel much better. The nausea is gone, the headache is gone, the shaking and sweating are gone. I still feel a little worn out but it's been a rough morning!

Singular has been recommended to my 3 1/2 year old son. I didn't feel good about it, so I declined and decided to look up possible side effects. Wow! I will NOT be giving it to him!
I have always been cautious on giving him antihistamines because prior bad side effects (which I never heard anyone else complain about).
When he was a few months old, he had cold like symptoms (runny nose, congestion, etc.) and was really suffering. I gave him the over-counter Pediacare and he could breathe better but he became something out of a horror film. He screamed constantly for over 48 hours and did NOT sleep a wink! Like a "crack baby" or something. (I assure you I am not exaggerating). I too became sleep deprived and crazed by his constant screaming, it took me some time to realize it was the meds. When I quit giving it to him, he became normal again. I decided I had to deal with the symptoms and not give him meds.
A year later, different medicine, I tried again. Same results.
When he was 2 1/2 we took a road trip from KY to KS. I thought I would try Benedryl, he had 2 older syblings that it benefited. NOT for him. He became "crazy" and screamed to the top of his lungs for the entire 12 hour drive. I vowed never again (for him or his family).
I have had success with Claritin in less than normal dosing. With no side effects. I have been assured, however, that Singular would work better for the symptoms. No thanks.
I feel really bad everyone this has effected negatively. I understand the side effects first hand.
I too have heard of the "antihistamine blocker" but don't know if it works.
I plan on trying a "nettie pot" (natural alternative) and have heard great allergy success stories. You can get them for about $5 at Walmart.
Hang in there parents! Do what you have to do for your child. Trust your instinks even over the Peditrician. I love Docs but YOU know your child. :)

I have Hashi's and have been on Synthroid for about 2 years. I was recently on 75 mcg and was teetering on the brink of being hypo again so my doctor increased my dosage to 88 mcg last week. Ever since I have been on the new dosage, I have had the worst insomnia. I wake up covered in sweat (in air conditioning) and I feel caffeinated all the time ( I don't consume caffeine). I feel strung out! Is my body just getting used to the new dosage or am I being over medicated? I don't want to complain yet to my doctor if this is just my body getting used to the new dosage but this really is terrible.

I took Avelox for the 1st time 3 days ago for a sinus infection. After the 1st pill I began sneezing uncontrollably. I didn't sleep a wink that night. I took my 2nd and 3rd dose the next few days and literally had not slept for 3 days straight-total INSOMNIA. My hands and legs felt so tingly I had no idea what was happening. I felt faint. Then my mouth became so dry. I couldn't breathe-all I kept thinking was my throat was closing up. It was horrible. My teeth hurt, my lips were swollen and dry,my vision was blurry, vomiting, loose stool.... My eyes were sore and swollen and I had no idea I was having an allergic reaction to the Avelox. Today is the 1st day I haven't taken a dose and I'm still feeling funky. Tight chest and blurred vision bad.I am severely fatigued. I just wonder how long this medicine stays in your system.

I came across this site when looking for information on Mirena lawsuits. I feel I should be part of one. I don't care about the money- just about getting this device off the market. Here's my story:
I had the Mirena inserted in April 2006 (eight weeks post birth of my first child). At insertion I had the usual pain. Nothing compared to birth! Within a week I was experiencing painful intercourse, foul odor, and stabbing pains in my stomach. I had lost a lot of baby weight by this time, but now that I look back, I really didn't lose much since. I worked hard just to stay at the same weight. I also developed a rash all over my body, which I later had diagnosed from a dermatologist as some sort of skin disease, usually caused by an allergic reaction- bad news- once you get it, you have it for life.
After several rounds of varying degrees of antibiotics (I was nursing at the time and for one round had to pump and dump), my doctors felt the infections were gone and I was okay. Soon though, I'm back in the office still complaining of these stabbing abdomen pains, painful intercourse, etc. My doctor tells me it's not the Mirena, it's something else. He convinces me to keep it in, after I asked to have it removed. (I'm the one who spent the money here, right?!) Now I have gone through PID diagnoses, you're in menopause diagnoses (I'm 24 at the time). They check to make sure the IUD is in place, and it is, so they basically write me off as crazy.
My next step is to go to my primary care and ask him if the stabbing pain could be something else- I do that and he sends me to a gastro doctor. I end up with a colonoscopy and endoscopy which reveal nothing wrong. After a few more months of pain, I go to a new GYN. This one says, let's do a new ultrasound and get the thing out. But unfortunately, I had to have shoulder surgery before he could schedule- so I'm out of it for a few months (and pain medicated so not feeling the pain down there).
In January 2008, I finally have the time to schedule to get the IUD removed. I get it out and it's not painful at all and I don't even bleed. I start menstruating normally again (hadn't had a period most of the time I had the IUD in). A few weeks later I start hemmoraging. I get an ultrasound. I have a mass on my uterus. I have surgery to get it removed. Biopsy comes back. It's benign (praise God). But, it's inflammatory tissue, cause from the IUD. More money down the drain and more time and mentally draining. Basically, the IUD got so infected that the tissue formed around it and attached to my uterus. YUCK.
Now I'm not one for lawsuits, but if ever there was a product that shouldn't be on the market- I'm going with the Mirena IUD. Every girlfriend I have that has had it, has had it removed within the first year (save my mother- but she had that old IUD in her for over 20 years-another yuck).
It's a money making machine for doctors and the drug company. And it's a super-pain. I'm feeling so much better and I'm losing weight again! Now if I could get rid of this rash! (Not likely!)

I was given samples of Levaquin 750 mg by an urgent care physician for a UTI. Fortunately, he only gave me 3 pills because I did not sleep a wink for 72 hours. My heart raced and I was concerned that I could not rest. The first day that I did not take a pill I was able to return to my normal sleep habits, thankfully. I should also note, although I did not sleep, I operated with an excessive amount of energy and no other side effects.

Sleep issues are a real factor with me on this drug. I stopped taking it when I switched from Lisinopril/HCTZ 20/12.5 mgs and slept like a baby. Have now been directed by doctor to take this drug in combination with Cardizem LA. First night on the higher dosage and I have not slept a wink.

I am 19 years old and I recently was taken off of it 2 years ago when I switched doctors. Prior to the switch I had been on it for 16 years. I prob have some of the worse side effects. Because it causes an increase in appetite I ate but I didn't eat all the time, and I ended up gaining over 100lbs. I have a black-brown ring around my neck and for the longest time I thought it was dirt that wouldn't come off so sometimes I scrubed my neck sometimes to the point that it was raw.I have bad acne on my back and its just horrible.I cry every single night because of the side effects.I just want to know if anyone on here can help me.

hey me again. I forgot to mention why I am on topamax. I have a wierd face twitch, used to be a deliberate looking wink which now involves an entire head jerk to theleft and an inability to open my eyes, that my neuro thinks my be the result of focal seizures, also I have regular migraines and daily, literally daily headaches. Because of some other more personal issues and symptoms I feel like I might have Tourret's instead. Last week I had an EEG done. My face was moving so much it was unreadable. I had a second one done. I fell asleep and the twitch slowed down, then I had an MRI done. I find out the results of it all in two days. Will topamax help if it is Tourret's? Does any of this sound familiar? Thanks

Wow, what a wonderful site. Its wonderful to know Im not the only one having issues with this...
I was on yasmin for one year to regulate my menstrual cycle. I had two major issues while on the drug - bloating, and NO sex drive whatsoever. I stopped taking Yasmin for two months, and I was a total nutcase. All I did was cry. I was so depressed and soooo anxious. They tried to put me on lexapro! I couldnt sit still, I worried all the time about everything, and I couldnt sleep a wink. This was in August 2005, and Im still dealing with the side effects.
Worst of all the high estrogen levels in Yasmin raised my normal estrogen levels to sky high. Now i have to deal with hormone treatment to get my balance back on track.
Definitely a bad move on my part. I would not recommend this drug to anyone.

I have been taking 20mg of Lisinopril for about 6 months. At first my blood pressure came down to an acceptable level, but now seems to be creeping up again. I know this means a higher dosage, but I am reluctant to take it as I have developed ....not a cough as such, but when I go to bed especially, it feels like I have a lump of mucus in my throat and have to keep swollowing, but it doesn't go away. This is accompanied by a burning in my throat which I get any time of the day. Last night I had terrible chest pains together with all the other stuff I didn't sleep a wink! when I reported these symptoms to my doctor she said I has asthma and gave me an inhaler to use, but this has not got rid of my symptoms. I am sure it is the lisinopril.

I started taking Leviquin three days ago. I had a urinary infection that had probably spread to my respitory system, so I was not in good shape. The respitory problem was bad, in that I could not lie down without eventually going into violent coughing fits, the kind that make you vomit from their intensity. In fact, I *did* vomit at one point, and was absolutely sure what I saw was half my blood coming up out of my mouth, which of course sent me into a panic due to its color and volume. I had forgotten that I'd been drinking red fruit juice all night, however, and realizing that's the only thing that made me smile these past days.
My doctor inspected my areas and prescribed Levaquin. Well, it certainly killed the respitory infection. Even up til I went in the door at the doc's, it was with me, but that night after that first dose, not a cough. Also, not a wink of sleep.
And no sleep the next night either. And quite a few times as I've drifted towards the veil and then been savagely yanked back, I've almost begun crying and shivering, afraid that I'm going to die now.
And now that I've read a few horror stories, I'm pretty scared that I might be sleepless until God knows when. Or worse.
I'm not taking a dose tomorrow, and am going back to the doctor Monday and demanding something else. I'm only scared now that whatever I've done is irreparable.

15 Oct, 2003- I was on Levaquin for an ear infection in July with no memorable side effects. I now have an upper respiratory and sinus infection and the Dr. put me on it again. Last night was my first dose of 500mg. I was motivated to look into possible side effects after having the WORST night of my life in terms of sleeplessness. Absolutely horrific night where I near slept a wink. I suffered from hot spells, bed sweats (I have no fever), dry mouth, thirst, constipation (today), anxiety and yet my body is exhausted and I feel like the ENERGIZER bunny that wants to 'keep on going". I felt depression and like crying all day, I have anxiety and dizziness. I did not attribute these effects to the drug until I felt so miserable, it motivated me to look into it on this web site. Absolutely amazing that others of you have had the same experience. If you are trying to get better and cure an infection, DO NOT TAKE THIS DRUG. I asked the doc for Zythromax and he said this one is better. I have taken Z-Pak before with NO problems..............now tell me who knows best- DEFINATELY NOT MY DOCTOR!!!!

I was perscribed Levaquin on 7/25/03...500mgs for 10 days for pneumonia. My illness has subsided a little after 3 days, but I started dealing with insomnia and my hands, feet, legs, even my butt cheeks itch like crazy. It keeps me from even grabbing a wink of sleep. Is there anything to combat this?

I took Vanacon approx one hour before going to bed because the doctor said it's strong and I should consider only taking it around bedtime. I stared at the ceiling all night, didn't sleep a wink. I'm taking another shot now (after being up 34 hours) to help me make it thru the day. I won't take anymore tonight in hopes I can get some sleep. :-/

I have been doing a trial and error thing w/ all my meds and I suspect that Singulair may be the culprit in my insomnia. Since I went down on Cymbalta, it has helped but last night I did not sleep a wink. I took xanax even and was up all night. Finally got up at 4.
Singulair has some ingredients that are the same as anti-histamines which have always affected my sleep but I have copd and am afraid to not take it.It is supposed to open your airways and I use Advair which has a steroid in it and I have no appetite. I still gain weight even though I'm not eating much.Dont know what to do. jo
