I had Mirena put in about 5 weeks ago to control heavy periods. After about 2 weeks I started experiencing a foggy head feeling and bouts of dizziness. I didn't relate this to anything and thought it might be from lack of sleep. Last week I stated having spells of rapid heartbeat and nervousness that lasted anywhere from 10 minutes to 10 hours. Exercising is out of the question since it makes me now feel lightheaded. I feel like I can't think or concentrate. At first I didn't think the symptoms were related to Mirena, but since I am otherwise very healthy and don't take any other medications, I started doing a search online and came to this website. I called the doctor and told the nurse my symptoms and she called me back to say that they never heard of anything like that and I must have some other medical problem...They insisted it was not Mirena causing the symptoms. I mentioned that my symptoms are actually ones listed by the manufacturer as "possible" side effects. They disagreed with that. Now I'm thinking of going to another doctor to remove it, if they'll do it. Can anyone tell me if they had these symptoms and if they got "better" with time? Or do they just get "worse"..??? If I knew that they would improve I would hold on a little longer. Has anyone had improvement after the first few months?

So glad to have found this site - but too late! Another night without sleep - sitting up writing this is helping with my sickness - seems worse when I am lying down. Not good at all. Know the doctors thought it would help but this is like no other period problem I have ever experienced. I usually get the whole thing headaches, mood swings, nausea, now I have all these things all the time! I have only had it in for 10 days and once the period started I just felt like I wanted the Mirena out of me even though I had no idea that I was feeling unwell. Seems like a big coincidence that I should be like this! I am not going mad but it feels like I could do if I don't get a decent night's sleep!
I am going to try and get it removed tomorrow because that might be one way of reversing how I feel because I have never felt so bad in 10 years of PMS. I am a 44 year old woman. Keep up the blog because we need to be there for each other - wish me luck I am crying whilst I am typing this.
Another disgruntled user.

I'm on my 3rd ring and i am miserable. The first week i put the ring in i noticed a differance. My symptoms are: extreme paranoia, anxiety, panic attacks, insomnia, shaking, nervousness, diarea, loss of appetite, fatigue, flu symptoms. I am normally an anxious person ut not like this. It is worse since starting the nuvaring. My doctor told me to just give it more time but i'm geting to a point where i feel hopeless. My family can see the change in me. I just put the 3rd ring in a couple days ago but all i wanna do is take it out because i'm so scared. I'm not concerned about pregnancy because i am not sexually active at all. My doctor prescribed this med because of my PMS. I'm using the ring every 3 weeks so i don't get a period at all. I'm afraid of how my body will react if i take the ring out and suddenly get a period again. My pharmasist advised me to leave it in until you would normally take it out but i don't know if i can stand using it anymore. Does anyone have any advice. I'm afraid to talk to my doc about the emotional symptoms because it always seems they never believe the med can cause them. Thanks for all who read this, wish me luck or send me a prayer. Everyone else who's miserable on this BC you're in my prayers :)

Took 2, 6day packs 4mg for 2 ruptured discs causing crippling back pain. Could not walk much at all or stand straight. Im 37 years old male, have always avoided any meds if possible.
Results:
Back pain went away after 10 days, along with good chiropractor visits, cold pack treatments throught the day and lots of lying flat on my back wearing a brace provided by chiropractor.
Side Effects:
-Sleepy during day, difficult to sleep at night.
-Slightly blurred vision.
-Constipated at times and loose at times, small amounts blood in stool three times.
-Frequent trips to urinate with uneven flow all the time.
-Have had slight occurances of heartburn.
-One week after 12 days treatment was over the pain returned more and more and I started to peel on my face without being in the sun, without redness and I have been well hydrated.
-Maybe depressed but may also be caused from needing to cancel scuba diving trip due to condition.
Starting to take 6 day pack again for returning pain. Wish me luck...thanks

I've been on Lisinopril for about five months. I'm a female, age 47 taking 20 mg once a day. My BP was 150/90 but now low at 100/62. Doc says my young age can support low BP for now. The chest pain and leg twitches are the worst. I'm constantly tired and find a lot of times that I just can't think clearly. I often awake at night with arms that have gone to sleep. Not sure though if the symptoms are from Lisinopril or the low blood pressure that it creates.
Wish me luck because I've decided to stay on the meds but try some lifestyle changes instead. I quit smoking two days ago but have often gone over a week and then caved for a cigarette. Only smoke about five cigs a day anyhow. Started walking when I quit, starting at a mile first (1/2 uphill.) Technically, I"m not overweight by charts but have never weighed this much in my life before. I"ve always had a slender, tall frame until just six years ago (turned 40?).
Also, not sure how much is stress related at every level of my symptoms. Working through a separation and hopefully divorce.. For now doc says stick with this med and lifestyle changes will win out.

I'm 32 years old with a 5 & a 6yr old. I was on Yasmin for 7mnths, four yrs ago. I lost down to 102 (I'm usually 115). It gave me constant stomach upset, everything I ate went right through me and the only week I wasn't bleeding was the week I should have been. I was put on Nuvaring, and have been on it for nearly four years. The first three went well, but then I began to spot in between periods and my migraines (which I had before either BC) have become out of control. I'm sick and dizzy all the time. After going to the OBGYN and discovering three ovarian cyst, I'm being put back on Yasmin. I can handle the stomach upset, but I am praying it helps the headache and irregular bleeding. Wish me luck.

I'm glad I'm not alone. I didn't have any problems with Yasmin at first, but when I lost weight I started to have a lot of vaginal dryness, difficulty with my contact lenses, twitchy legs at night, foggy thinking, etc. Takign a magnesium supplement helped with the twitchy legs. I went off of Yasmin one month when I was travelling and all those side efects went away. In addition, I found that I was sleeping better than I had in months. I stayed on it for a while because none of my side-effects were very strong and would come and go, and I wasn't sure if it was the Yasmin
My OB-GYN was very understanding so this month I'm switching back to Ortho-tricylen. Wish me luck!

I have been off Yasmin for two months now. I feel better and better as time goes on. I'm not a puddle of tears anymore as I once was while I was on it. I also stopped losing hair and my sex drive is coming back.
Since i haven't gotten my period since i stopped the Yasmin, my doc had to induce a period so that I could get my IUD inserted today. Wish me luck! I'll let you know how the Copper (Non-Hormonal) IUD works out!!
Cheers!

Ugh. I guess I'm unusual, I had my first period after quitting Yasmin about three weeks after my last pill. (It was really short - but I still had it.) I'm going to see my doctor on Friday about getting on another pill: I cannot STAND how off and anxious I feel. The day before my period started was the worst. Since I also have Bipolar disorder - it is DIFFICULT to convince the doctor that a LOT of my issues are HORMONAL and not due to my 'mental illness'. Wish me luck. Should be a fun visit.

28 y/o male. I have used advair on and off for three years. I started on 100/50 twice a day and eventually reduced to once a day. Right now I am trying to wean myself off it completely; I haven't had a dose in 48 hours. I have been on some kind of inhaled corticosteroids for asthma since early childhood. I never had any issue with weight gain. The side effects I noticed with Advair have occasional heart palpitations and dizzyness, and loosing my voice. Since I have to speak publicly because of my job, the voice loss has been the worst. I wouldn't describe it as horseness, but rather a sort of vocal weakness or wateryness. I normally have a fairly deep, loud voice, and it comes back within 48 hours of discontinuing the advair. I tried every method of rinsing out my throat and mouth to avoid the voice loss, to no avial. As I said above, I have been 48 hours without a dose, and I feel fine. Wish me luck. I'm interested to see if I can make it without the steroids...its been over 20 years.

Hi Ladies,
I did lots of research before getting on Yasmin and found it to be good but then I saw my weight go up and up and was like OH NO!! I got off of Yasmin in Dec of 2005 due to bad headaches and neasea, My period came in Jan, Missed it in Feb, Came late March, Missed it in April, came back on May 28th (Heavy!!!!) and has yet to go away and it's 7-21-06 already. I went to the obgyn two weeks ago and he gave me Ovocon35, he said to take 2 pills each day until the period went away, I have gone through 2 packs of Overnight Pads already! the bleeding won't stop. Finally Ovcon35 took the bleeding away but gave me extreame Neasea, headaches.. So I missed the pill 1-day and I have heavy bleeding again.. it's horrible!! The Doc just called and was about to give me Yasmin again, I was like? That's what caused the PROB! He said OH Ok, well here's a new one, So I have to go pick up Low Estrin now and by reading the reviews.. it seems more positive than Yasmin! Wish me luck! I feel like crap!

Lisa and Antiyasmin,
Thanks for the info. I have been off the pill for about a week now and I'm still waiting for BP to decrease. I'm just hoping this is a side effect of the medication. Unfortunately for me my GYN just doesn't seem to think it is the medication and my internist thinks it might be. I think perhaps if my GYN was a little more diligent I think I could have gotten off the pill before it was as high as it is now. Wish me luck!

today is my first day on Singulair. I didn't get as much sleep as usual last night as I had an early Dr. appointment this morning. My asthmas has been acting up and I thought it might be allergies so my Dr. gave me some samples of Singulair. Thinking that there is no time like the present, I took my first pill in the car driving from my appointment. I have been fighting sleep all day at work and it just occured to me that it might be the medicine. I have pins and needles in one arm and didn't think of the connection until looking at possible side effects of this drug. I might be foolish, but I will try it again tomorrow to see if it persists. Wish me luck!!

I am 34 years old, white, male, american. I am 6 foot 2 inches and weigh appx 215 pounds. My blood pressure had been creeping up a few years ago so I was put on a small dose of Benicar. No problems, BP went down. During a regular check-up with blood tests it was discovered that my cholesteral and triglicerides(have no idea if I'm spelling these corectly) were up. Cholesteral was 215 and trig. were through the roof. He put me on 10 mg per day and said we'll do blood tests in six weeks. About three weeks in I started cramping in my abdominal region. It got worse with alocohol intake but didn't seem to change much other than that. I complained to my doc's nurses and they said, "Zocor doesn't usually have ANY side effect." My blood test showed a drop in my numbers and no liver or kidney problems (according to my doctor). I stopped taking Zocor for about four days and felt better. I started again and now my cramping is worse than ever. My doctor hooked me up with another doctor and I have a colonoscopy scheduled for next week. I might stick it out until then to see if anything shows up but this website and these posts really worry me. Doctors I think listen to drug salespersons and not their patients too much. Wish me luck.

Wow am I glad I found this sight. Thought I was going crazy with this cough. I started taking Lisinopril per dr. orders in May 2005 for High BP. About a month later wife and co-workers pointed out to me that I sure cough a lot. Hall's cough drops became a daily part of my routine (10-15 a day). Just before Christmas I cought a nasty cold and while the major symtoms went away as usual within a week, the cough persisted and now consists of a sharp pain in the right lung. I have resolved to stop taking the Lisinopril as of 1/8/06 and see if the cough and pain go away. Can't get an appt. with my new Doctor for a month or more so it's self experimentation time. Wish me luck.

One pill 10 mg. dropped my pressure through the floor- I felt terrible- dizzy, weak, my ears felt like I was under 20 feet of water. If one pill can do all that-- my pressure dropped to 90/65 in 12 hours after taking one pill. My doctor recommended that I cut the pill in half or take a quarter of a pill--that's what I did for the last 6 weeks. Now I have a dry cough that keeps coming back and my chest aches. I'm glad I found this site-- I will stop this medication and find another. Wish me luck!

I ended up going to the emergency room on Monday because the anxiety and panic attacks got so bad and I couldn't get an appointment until Friday. I took a xanax I had and it only helped for about an hour so I had no choice but to go in. I told them about the xanax only helping for the short period of time. The ran an ekg because of the chest pain and check my blood sugar levels, and gave me a xanax (why I don't know). They contacted my dr and said if I have any problems to call him and sent me home with a script for xanax (big joke to me). I go to the dr. tomorrow... wish me luck!

Hi everyone, Okay its day 6 of taking prednisone, I am feeling so light headed and awful that I decided to get a second opinion on my Bronchitis and all the cortisone that my Doctor has been giving me. Twice a day on Cortisone nebulizer and 40g of Prednisone a day. I am calling another Doctor I trust that I used before I moved State, tomorrow. I want to get a second opinion about how to wean myself off this Cortisone. I have then decided to go an see a Homeopath that helped me with my 35kg weight loss. She is brilliant. She is far from me to drive but after going through the side effects of this Prednisone I will drive anywhere to get better medical treatment. So no more chemicals in my body from now on I want natural medicine, it may take longer to heal but at least its going for the root of the problem and not the symptom. Wish me luck! -

Hello everyone. I have polycystic ovaries which have been causing me to have cramps throughtout the month. My periods last 7-8 days and the cramps are horrible. I have decided to try Yasmin to see if it helps with my problems. I admit, I have my doubts about starting it. I have read a lot of complaints about it, but also, I have heard a good deal of positive things as well. I will be back in a few months to let the people interested how I feel. Wish me luck.

Hi guys,
Well - you have all scared the hell out of me. Im 28 and have been on the pill before. Although it was so long ago that I cant remember what it was called. This is my second day of taking Yasmin and while i admit im a little more tired than usual, I also feel quite clear headed, which for me is great. The nausea - which anyone experiences with any type of pill -isnt that bad and so far, this is all that Ive been experiencing. I intend to take this for a week and see how I feel at the end. Sometimes, a specific type of pill will not work for everyone. Anyway, Ill let you know how I go at the end of the weel. Wish me luck ladies!! (GULP)

I'm 28 and just in the past 2 years I've developed some allergies, and just recently got on Advair for breathing difficulty. I had been using my Albuteral, and got irritated having to use it just about every 4 hours. So Advair worked awesome for the first week 1/2 but now it's been two weeks and I'm starting to get bad side effects. The thrush in my throat...even with washing my mouth out thoroughly. Weight gain I just noticed this week, and dizziness, cloudy thinking, headaches, and wondered why my back has been sore when I haven't even done much hard work?? Well, thankfully to this website I know I'm not crazy and ADVAIR is horrible. Tonight i'm convinced and getting off of it. I'm going to try and go a more Holistic route if possible and use my albuterol for the time being. I do wonder like some of you mentioned about kick backs. Makes me sick!!!!!!!! And it's true about the bullying, I go in next tuesday to check on my thrush.....she's not going to like what I have to say!!!!!!!!!! Wish me luck!!!

I have had the worst diahrrea with ultracet. It is a wonder I haven't accidently killed myself with this. I'd get the diahrrea and take an OTC remedy for it while not realizing the diahrrea was from the ultracet. I'd sleep for about 3 hours at a time, wake up for 30 minutes, and struggle to go back to sleep. I was wondering why it did nothing for my pain and then found out it is an opiate derivative. I'm one of those not susceptible to opiates for pain relief. However, when given an opiate I do hallucinate. No wonder I was seeing spiders. I'm going to ride out the withdrawal and see what happens. Wish me luck.

hello everyone,
-- By pretty702 | Reply | Private Message meI am 24 years old and i have been on this pill for almost a month, and let me tell you that i have had good times and bad. I have had really bad headachs and my moods do change, and weight gain. The one thing i did not want, because i just had a baby and it is hard enough to loose the weight. But the side effects come and they go it has not been that bad that i am ready to give up i will stick it out the three months like my gyno has told me too. Though i am a little freaked out right now because i started the sugar pill and no sign of my period yet, so we will see about that. Wish me luck please.
