Well, I was doing some research because my pain from my endometriosis is returning and I'm actually considering asking my doctor for another round of Lupron. I was on lupron over 2 years ago and experienced minimal side effects. I had the hot flashes, no hair loos just hair growth in unwanted places like my face, and just a few bouts of tearfulness. i actually lost weight on lupron and consider it to be the most sane time of my life. The women in my family over produce estrogen so i'm not sure if maybe my experience was different in that my estorgen level was not depleted to nothingness but to a more normal level. I am saddened to hear so many women suffering with what I considered my wonder drug!

Wow, I'm so glad I found this site!
I was diagnosed with pleurisy 2 and a half weeks ago following a virus, a few weeks before, so naturally, as my asthma nurse has always told me, I've doubled up my Advair (or Seretide as it's called here in the UK!) for that entire time.
Previously I was taking one puff once a day in an evening which I never had any problems or side effects with, it just controlled my asthma really well. Now I'm taking 2 puffs twice a day (morning and night) and for a few days now I've been having terrible joint pains in my hands, feet, elbows and knees. Have been searching the internet for what it could be and think I might have found the answer! Hopefully if I decrease my meds back down the pain will improve!
Like a lot of people on here, though, I was NEVER told about any potential side effects to Seretide, just that it was a wonder drug.

GET AWAY FROM THIS DANGEROUS DRUG AS FAST AS YOU CAN . After 2 years of 40mg/day I could hardly walk due to severe joint pain. 3 different doctors all told me this drug was well tolerated and acted like I was stupid for complaining. All of them gave me the same speech and drew the same diagram on paper about why Lisinopril was the best drug out there. It amazed me that the drug companies had these guys so brainwashed.

When I told the doctor about some of these posts he said "Yeah, you can find any answer you want on the internet. People don't know what's going on" They wanted to give me more drugs to counteract the joint pain. They didn't know why my energy level was at an all-time low. It surely couldn't have been their wonder drug.

Needless to say, once I got away from this stuff I started feeling immediately better. I now take 5mg Norvasc and my blood pressure has dropped dramatically. I have lost weight, my joints are back to normal, I have energy. DON'T LET THE DOCTORS TALK YOU INTO LISINOPRIL .
IT'S YOUR LIFE.

My second trip to this forum. A couple years ago, I developed plantar's fasciitis in both heels and had to give up basketball (at 54), and it took about nine months to recover from that. I had been on Lipitor 10 mg, and, while I can't say there was a cause-effect relationship, I had no problems of this kind before then.

Well, I continued on the Lipitor, and this past fall got horrible impingement pain in one shoulder that evolved to a frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis). Tonight I did a quick google search on this and it led me back to this site. Again, I cannot PROVE anything, but I've NEVER had any trouble with joints and just have to wonder.

I read on one link that Frozen Shoulder is on the rise, and wonder if Statin use is possibly behind it. I'm at the point that I may go off these drugs and go hard core Atkins diet again, the only thing that got the excess 30 pounds I'm carrying off, and also gave me "textbook" numbers on my lipid profile.

I'm starting to think this drug is possibly the problem. It's not worth it to take a debilitating and crippling substance just to be able to eat whatever I want.

I have found that Topamax was the wonder drug for me. Thank God for it. I suffered with lupus related headaches for years and could not find anything to control them. They were horrible until my doctor prescribed Topamax. Three pills at night (25 mg) and two in the morning (25 mg) controlled the headaches completely. No more pain at all. While I did lose weight, I now get to eat whatever I want because I don't seem to gain any weight for the first time in my life, which is a very nice side effect. But more importantly, I have not had a severe migraine for quite some time.

My 13 year old son has been on Singulair for about 4 years. I considered it a wonder drug because he would always get sick from his asthma. For the past couple of years my son has been very inattentive. I blew it off as the preteen hormones. It wasn't until recently his dad made a comment about him never smiling or enjoying things they use to do together. If you saw any of his recent photos compared to his past pics, he appear dazed and depressed. I would always ask he's okay, any new changes in school. OMG! I can't believe they are marketing this medicine to our children.

He always complained of stomach upsets, really bad headaches every week, pain in his legs and hallucinations. I know this sounds crazy, but I would have never considered it may be the medicine, but after reading the blogs, I'm starting to realize it could be contributed to Singulair. It's been two days since I've taken him off Singulair and I can only hope and pray his asthma does not flair up like it has in the past. I also pray that Merck is reading these blogs and will take Singulair off the market until a more detailed research is conducted. I at one time looked at Singulair as being the greater good for my son's asthma, but it's not worth risking my son's mental health. I wonder if Merck would give this medicine to there children?

I have son that has been on singular for 5years . He is 14 and a half started taking it for his asthma its his wonder drug never any side affects! I had him stop taking to see if his asthma got better within 2 weeks he started wheezing every day and asked my if he could start taking it again I put him back on it no side affects again works wonders i would recommend any day for asthma. Every one can blame drugs and that sorts but if you think your a bad parent for trying a med. to see if would help your child well then you could be just as bad for not trying cause one child committed suicide while taking it does not mean my child will . In that statement i think the doctors no more than we do thats why they go to school, and now and days they will put any child on meds and say they have add or add parents too... so its all in what you believe in if it works for your child then it does if it don`t try something else but there could be a lot of other reasons why your child acts out! My other son acts and sounds much like you describe as side effects well guess what he is 9 and takes no meds just vitamins! good luck all and don`t get scared. sometimes its just who they are! Yes my 14 and half year old will continue with his singular until my doctors say other wise.

Folks seriously this drug is bad news. Yes it worked great for my son's asthma. We thought it was a wonder drug. Then things changed. My son had horrible side effects to this also. It took us 5 months to link it to the meds. I realized after reading this website and all the blogs from other parents. My son is 4 years old and had the following symptoms: Weight loss, poor appetite, muscle and joint pain, headaches, unexplained fevers, complained of seeing colors, blue under the eyes, severe stomach cramps and horrible horrible thoughts no 4 year old should ever experience in their mind. I did not even know who my child was that is how scary it was. This is such a dangerous drug. I have talked to several other parents who this has happened too including having seizures out of the blue with no history. I work in the medical field and it seems only a few docs are recognizing this. I have seen this in other kids. This drug may be great for others and yes there are side effects to every medication. However I do not think all these children are having the same side effects. Do you?? SERIOUSLY TAKE YOUR KIDS OFF THIS TERRIBLE DRUG, REPORT IT TO THE FDA!!!

The instructions that come with this medication clearly indicate that this medication , and is typed in caps USE OF THIS MEDICINE IS NOT RECOMMENDED IN CHILDREN under the age of 15. Please talk to the doctor about the risks and benefits before giving this to your child.

Now that is with the print out you get when you pick up this medicine from Kaiser, and other drug stores, so I am really shocked to read all these stories of people giving this drug to so many small children. Always research your medication BEFORE you give it to yourself or your child.
I have had many bad reactions, and had to learn the hard way for myself and mor my aging mom, she almost was rendered brain dead from a drug I did not research. Do your homework FIRST! I will never make this mistake again. Hope this helps someone.

Given Zanaflex after 6 back surgeries. Dosage take 2 tabs (4mg) 4 times a day. Total dosage 24hrs (8mg x 4 = 32mg.) This seems high to me. What happens is my stomach does not digest food, mobility slows way down; can not urinate, pass gas. I am a 52 female, with spinal problems. I also have HTN, and when I miss a dose to drive, my face is flushed bright red, B/P soars in the 200's. I can not move my bowels up to 10 days. I am now off this medicine and yes, I hurt, but, once in awhile I will take 1/2 tab. Anyone else experience such bowel, urination problems? And, yes, the HTN? I am now on the generic. This is the medicine from hell. I feel better with a lowered dose. Please help me with your comments. by kwncln

I am totally shocked at what I have learned about Lipitor. My physician prescribed 10mg for me over 4 years ago. No major problems until recently. Severe neck/shoulder pain for about 3 months. Dr said it was a pulled muscle. Gave me Skelaxin. No help. Went to Chiropractor--yanked, cracked, beat, etc--no help. In the past 2 weeks or so I have developed pain in my hips, back and legs. Blamed it on being 52 years old. As I read some of the experiences on here I could relate to each one. I also have gained about 30 pounds in the past 4 years, short term memory is terrible. NO ENERGY> 3 years ago-Dr started me on Wellbutrin for depression, then added Zoloft. I am to the point now I want to get off of all this and see how I could really feel. Not sure about withdrawals. Any comments on stopping the meds?

I too have nothing new to add just wanted to share my experience. I had severe bylateral ear infections accompanied by a sinus infection. My dr. gave me 10 days of augmentumn (sp?) it didn't work so she then prescribed 10 days of Levaquin (poison!) my insurance company didn't approve it at first so the pharmacy put a call into my dr.'s office and was waiting for an alternative. I was in so much pain from the ear infections that I did the single worst thing that I regret in my life. I called my insurance company and had them overide the rejection and approve the medicine, I wish to God I didn't. I did ask them if it was a controversial medication and they said no, just that it needs to be approved. Well, I started on Monday July 2nd and by Wednesday July 5th my knees started to ache really bad, just thought I walked a little too much on the 4th (nothing out of the ordinary I walk all the time and swim) well I thought it would subside and NEVER ever ONCE thought it was due to an antibiotic (aka levaquin/poison). I experienced sleeplessness and nauseau and didn't think anything of it, I know most antibiotics can make you nausiated. Well, by Sunday I could barely walk and when I had to crouch down to get something, I had tears in my eyes trying to stand up, the burning in my knees was unbearable and I still didn't relate it to the medicine, I had NO idea! Well, by Tuesday I took my 9th dose and my ears had felt better but my knees were getting worse, so I woke up on Wednesay and didn't take the medicine and then called the dr.'s. I asked if this could be related to the medication because it's not getting better, and the nurse said, I've never heard of that before, but hold on. She came back and stated "it says a side effect can be tendonitis and she said I needed to come in right away" I saw the dr. and she said, yes it's a side effect but it happens mostly in teenagers, but she was a little concerned that I was still having severe joint pain more than 24 hours after stopping the medication and that she wanted to do a lyme test. She told me that even if the lyme came back negative she was going to put me on dicylomine (sp?) for 3 weeks as a precaution because lyme tests can produce false negatives. She said wait another 24 hours and if I'm still in pain then she will prescribe the lyme meds. Well, 24 hours past and I got the lyme back, negative, my knees were killing, my muscles started to shake in my upper thighs and I was getting vibrating sensation along with muscle contractions. I called them back and on Friday and stated that I did some research on Levaquin and this is a side effect of the medication and I am NOT taking another antibiotic for a disease that I don't have! They asked me if I could wait until Tuesday to come see the dr because she was on vacation and I agreed hoping that my pain would subside with the prescription motrin and some ice. By Saturday (yesterday) it was moving down to my left shin and both the back of my ankles were killing like they were stiffl. I called and they said to put warm heat packs on and take the motrin and they would see me tomorrow if necessary. Well, the trembling in my legs were so bad that I had to take a diazapam to calm them down (which I didn't want to because I wanted to measure the pain, but couldn't stand it any longer) and put heat packs all day. I got some sleep last night (most likely due to the diazapam) I think the ice is worse for this but it feels better at the time. I am NOT getting any better, what is going on with me? I cannot believe this company has not been put out of business! I am going to see the dr's on Tuesday and am treating my condition as if it's tendonitits, I am now experiencing the muscle contractions in my arms. I am drinking water like it's my job and trying to stay off my legs with just a bit of stretching. I do pilates and go to the gym but have not gone since the 2nd of July the day I started the medication and am getting frustrated because I need to go for my back (arthritis of the spine with some herniated discs which are killing me now because I haven't been able to excersie or stretch). I am SO furious that this drug is on the market, the nurse said that it was a serious but RARE side effect to the drug and that she has never heard of anyone having it, well I don't think it's as rare as they would like to think and would like to do something about getting it taken off the market!

PLEASE tell me PLEASE has anyone just ONE person recovered from this HORRIBLE nighmarish pain and anguish? I am looking for that one beacon of hope that others have recovered and are feeling better, please anyone. I have children and I need to take care of them but I can't move my legs without excruciating pain going through them, especially the burning of the top of my knees. ANY help on how you took care of yourself would be great help to me. Thank you all!

I am 33 years old & have had Asthma for about 2 years. With in these 2 years I was in and out of the ER about 5 times. One day I had a F/U appt. w/my doctor who prescribed Singulair to me. At first I thought this was the Wonder Drug. My spasms & Asthma subsided & I was able to do what I needed to do each day. I then started to feel like I was going to dye. I would look at my children and start to cry. I was always irritable w/my husband & then started to get depressed, heading to my bedroom to cry myself to sleep after work & waking up in the middle of the night w/palpitations & thinking this was the "Big One" I'll never see my children again. I went to the doctor & got put on antidepressants and to see a therapist. The antidepressant made me worse, I was weaned off of it & still actually felt like I was going crazy. I asked my doctor if this was one of the side effects of Singulair. He said because of my everyday busy life (Like 5 million other women in the US) I had a lot on my mind & it was not the Med. that I probably was depressed. About a month & a half ago I took myself off Singulair & now I'm am back to my old self. NO anxiety attacks, no depression, ect...I would say though that this drug should be taken off the Market. If this is what a grown adult goes through I can not believe what a child would go through. I think if there is severe side effects from this drug like I experienced, then it should not be prescribed!!

I was diagnosed w/ Crohn's Disease at the age of 15. I am now 18 and have had no luck w/ any drug that they have tried to treat me with. Endocort and Asacol. After two years of these two drugs they decided to try Prednisone because I was not getting better. I have been on it for one month at 30 mg a day. I love it SO FAR. I am waiting to see what happens. I am scared because I haven't heard the best things about Prednisone. I have had mild weight gain. I weighed 93 lbs and now I am a healthy 105. I am not getting fat, I am just putting on the weight my body was lacking. I looked anorexically skinny and now my body is healing so I am able to eat more and not get sick. I have had mild heartburn as well. Especially when I drink pop. I have had slight muscle cramps. The worst part is the acne I have been experiencing. It came on out of nowhere. But, just wash your face 2-3x a day and keep it oil free and you should be fine. And to help control the weight gain I work out 3x a week. I also am eating healthier foods.

This site amazes me. I too, have experienced many of the same side effects; DEPRESSION, HEADACHES, IBS, MAJOR MOOD SWINGS (CRYING FOR NO REASON), ANXIETY/PANIC ATTACKS, and last but certainly not least, SUICIDAL THOUGHTS! How can a drug company "Push" such poison?! And the doctors that are prescribing it definitely need to be digging deeper into the potential side effects. If this site is any indication of what those are, this drug should be BANNED! Thankfully I figured it out and saved myself and my relationship.

This gal will never trust another prescription and will venture into natural BC and healing options. Best of luck to all of you women out there who were "sold" this as being a "wonder drug".

for everyone who has a side effect there are a 1000 people with none. Statins are in fact perhaps the safest drug on the market. During clincal trials they stopped giving placebo to the control group, as the benefit of the statin was so great they felt it was wrong to deny it to them....

It is one drug that does as advertised...sorry folks...far from a disaster, they will go down in history like the aspirin...a wonder drug...

Ladies,

I posted nearly a year ago on this board about all the side effects and symptoms I was having. I emailed my gyno in NY (I reside in CA) and the woman called me at 2 in the morning and told me to stop taking it because it sounded like I was going to have a stroke.

They keep telling us that Yasmin is this new wonder drug, but I will never take any form of BC ever again. I know that there are other options out there, but that was literal HELL. I am a stable, responsible, healthy person with few problems containing my emotions, but when on this drug, the hormones and moodswings nearly caused me to commit suicide.

Please, Ladies, don't take this drug. It's not worth your life. I'm not being dramatic. From what I've experienced and what I've read, I'm positive that this new "miracle" drug is capable of killing us.

I have gained 40 lbs in the past year, since taking zoloft, always hungry, feel more anxious, cant seem to relax, or concentrate sometimes. Feel sometimes like my mind is racing. Mood swings, dry mouth, trouble sleeping.

But the positive effects has been relief of depression. I get angry sometimes, and hysterical, much more emotional.

this medicine is a wonder drug for my very large 12 year old. the doctor put him on it about 7 months ago and since then, i have a loving, caring and healthy son. He used to eat all of the time and could not get full making him the joke of school. now he can focus in school and at home. his worrying all the time and trying to passify his worries with food have disappeared. if everything else fails for you or your child, i would highly recommend adderall. by the way, his doasage is 30 mg.

Levoxyl is an evil drug. I went off on my own against doctors orders and found a doctor to prescribe the leading brand of natural hormone. After 6 months on Levoxyl, I had heartrate of 120 at rest. Nausea, diarrhea, hair loss, weight loss. I suffered on this stuff for 6 months because my "labs were in normal ranges". I took myself off, and within 9 days my heartrate had dropped to 84. No more nausea, bowels were fine. Found a new doc quick. I was only on .05 Will the docs tell the FDA about my side effects? Probably not, its their wonder drug...and they make plenty of $$ for prescribing it. They tried to convince me that synthetic hormones have no side effects. You could hold me down with a gun to my head and I would never ever take any brand of synthetic T4 again.
