Hi All,

I am so glad that I found this group of postings. For the past 5 days I have been experiencing muscle pain which began on the inside of my left knee day 1. On the second day I had significant pain in both calf muscles as if I had begun a new calf workout routine(I haven't) as well as pain in the large back muscle that runs down either side of the spine. Day 3 I noticed serious pain in my forearms and wrists. The forearm pain is causing hand cramping and my thumbs don't seem to function properly. I tried to sign a credit card receipt today and could barely grip the pen. I now have pain in my neck muscles as well.

I know I have taken Levaquin in the past 6 months, I am just not exactly sure when it was. I am definitely going to research that. I went to the Dr. yesterday to discuss my muscle pain. He took 2 viles of blood. He said he is going to check for Lyme's disease and other infection. I am hopeful it is not something serious. I must say thought, many of the posts above sound a lot like what I am experiencing. I am going to be beyond angry if I have a permanent condition from taking Levaquin. Some pain I believe I can deal with. It is the current poor function of my hands I am most concerned with.

I wish all of you the best in recovering. If my condition turns out to be something else I will repost.

I just wanted to share my experience with Mirena and hope that it helps someone else. I had Mirena inserted on 7th July 2008 after having a copper IUD removed. I chose the Mirena because I had heavy periods and understood that the hormone would be localized to my uterus and only a very small amount would enter my bloodstream.

After a very short time (probably a day or so), I started getting symptoms of nausea, headaches, dizziness, forgetfulness, depression, bloating, cramping and just a general feeling of something wrong with my body. One day I was just sitting at my desk at work and my heart starting racing! I also felt very anxious and panicky a lot of the time.

The nausea and headaches just got worse every day until I couldn't stand it any longer - I was completely miserable - and called my doctor's office to make an appointment to have the Mirena removed. When I went to the appointment, my blood pressure was sky high and I had a severe headache. Although my doctor said she believed I was having these symptoms, she didn't think the Mirena could be the cause.

Anyway, I had the Mirena removed on July 25th and a few hours later, my headache had completely gone. I slept great that night and woke up for the first time in 2 weeks not feeling nauseous. I had my blood pressure checked today (2 days later) and it was back to normal.

I'm pretty sure that the Mirena made me sick and I wish I'd done some research before I had it inserted. It's been interesting to learn that so many people are experiencing similar problems.

I'm a prior poster - Exactly 3 weeks post-removal. Still not period, but I sense all of my normal symptoms occurring right before. Still no headaches, not lethargic anymore, slight weight loss. I've actually only lost 3 lbs, but my body feels so much more normal. I'm able to wake at 5:15 and do my normal workout routine with plenty of energy to get through the day. I'm convinced that for me, the Mirena did more damage than good in my life.

I am a 34 year old male. I have been on 80mg of Prednisone 7 days a week for 2 months now. I will be getting my dosage lowered to 60mg tomorrow but am having a difficult time dealing with the Moon face, eye bags, acne, and sleepless nights. I go to the gym 4 times a week and am in shape other than this freak fake head it looks like I have now. Has anyone been able to find a way to make the effects not so noticable..as in diurex or diet pills. I would like to try anything but want to be safe at the same time. Thanks for any help and god bless. David

If anybody KNEW how relieved I am to read these messages.... you guys just don't know! I stopped taking yasmin 2 weeks ago because I gained 30 pounds on it in one year. I have stretch marks, total loss of confidence, everything. THEN, when I read your messages I was so relieved to find out that a lot of women got anxiety from them too. For the past year I have been nothing but anxiety. My heart beats fast, I felt short of breath almost everyday, I couldn't drink a cup of coffee without getting palpitations and jitters for an hour, I felt fatigue everyday, I couldn't even have a normal workout routine because I would get tired after 10 minutes. And the WHOLE time I thought it was something else. I had no idea that it could have possible been yasmin because everybody told me it was too low of a dose to do anything. I'm so glad I'm off of it but I'm getting hotflashes and I'm only 19. I hopoe it will be over in a few weeks so I can be normal again. By the way, did anybody else get hotflashes while getting off of Yasmin??

I started searching for any side effects of Yasmin after a young lady on another website that I frequent asked about it. I started taking yasmin in 2002 after I had sugery to remove tumors from my ovaries. I experienced such terriblr pain during my menstral cycle right before and right after my surgery that my gyno prescribed it for me. It did stop the pain but my body has not seemed right ever since. I contributed it to my body being confused after my surgery, I never would have contributed it to the yasmin. I had absolutely no sexual desire (and it is still at a minimum), I would wake up in a pool of sweat every night, I have had excessive weight gain. Before my surgery, I weighed 115. At my last visit to the gyno I weighed 160, My weight had not been an issue in my adult life and I cannot seem to lose the weight. Since beginning a serious workout routine, I have had terrible pain in my knees and I battle with depression and for a while had constant anxiety attacks. When I tried to tell my doctor that I thought something was wrong, especially about the weight gain, he said that it couldn't possibly be the yasmin. This site has really opened my eyes. Thanks ladies!

Post your symptoms since stopping Yasmin!!!

Hey everyone it's Kay21 here and I just wanted to post my 3 month off Yasmin update. Because stopping the pill is a hard decision, I figured we should all post are updates here to help/support those who are planning to stop or who have recently stopped Yasmin.

I have been off of Yasmin since April 17. As some of you already know, I was experiencing horrible side effects while on Yasmin for 3 years (particularly stomach problems, vaginal dryness, muscle cramps, increased blood pressure and heart rate and anxiety).

The first 1 month off of Yasmin was okay. In fact, I felt the best I had ever felt in a while. My blood pressure and heart rate decreased and the migraines and muscle cramps went away. But when I hit the 2 month (8 week) mark, I felt HORRIBLE. I was severely depressed and anxious. I was crying all the time and felt a severe sense of DOOM! The physical symptoms also started to become problematic. The acne increased and I started growing more facial hair. The worse symptom, however, was that I started losing a ton of hair. I would lose stray hairs all day (probably about 200 a day). Since I have hit the three month mark, the hair loss has gotten MUCH WORSE! Now I am losing CLUMPS of hair all day. I have seen several doctors about this. Some say it's because of stress and a few (a derm, GYN and endo) say that hiar loss is common after stopping bcp. I have already loss about 1/3 of my hair.

I am also really concerned, because I have not had a period since April 22. So my doctor has put me on provera for 10 days to induce a period.

For those who have stopped Yasmin, what have your symptoms been (i.e. increased acne, weight gain, anxiety, etc.). Has anyone experienced hair loss? How long did it take to get a period???

Thanks...

I'm going through my second batch of re-occurring hives! 13 years ago, in high school, I had them all over my body everyday for 3 years! The many specialists, tests, diets & 31 different medications I tried, didn't help. One day, the hives just disappeared. After 10 years with no hives, they came back around just as massive and strong as before. I've had them daily for 10 months. I refused to take any steroids, until I ended up in the ER because my tounge was swollen and I couldn't breathe. I had to take the Prednisone. After 6 months of feeling completely crazy and gaining so much weight, I just stopped. Now, I'm on multiple doeses of prescreption anti-histamines.

During the 6 months I was on the Prednisone, I gained 38 lbs. I was still maintaining my workout routine, but felt like I was eatting for a whole family! I've been off of the steroids for a little over 4 months. My workout consists of one hour cardio/aerobic workouts, 5-6 times a week. Additionally, due to new food allergies, my diet is limited to meat, selected vegtables/fruits and limited dairy intake. I can not eat anything with flour/wheat & grains or chocolate. Plus, I'm on my 4th month of Phentremine (prescription weight loss medication). Even with all of this, I have only lost 18 lbs. (Everyone I know who has taken a prescription weight loss medication lost approx. 35 lbs in 3 months.) Is it because of the Prednisone that it's taking so much longer to loose the weight? How long will it take and does anyone know of anything else I can do to speed up this process?
