Yaz birth control symptoms and conditions

I just want to thank all of you ladies for sharing your experience. I was recently on the Yaz birth control and it was making me into a nut case...constant crying, feeling on edge, back and leg pain, irritability, picking fights with my boyfriend, etc. My doctor had made Yaz sound like a miracle pill, so when I had all these problems I was very frustrated. I went in to see her and she suggested MIRENA, saying that the ONLY side effect I might experience would be some bleeding on and off for the first month or two. She set up an appointment (which I have since canceled) to have it inserted in two weeks. I AM SERIOUSLY STARTING TO THINK THAT DOCTORS MUST GET A GOOD KICK-BACK FROM "SELLING" THE MIRENA TO THEIR PATIENTS. IT SEEMS LIKE THAT IS PROBABLY WHY THEY ARE ALSO SO RESISTANT TO REMOVING IT WHEN A PATIENT COMPLAINS. I am so glad that I decided to do some research on my own before having it put in. I read all of your posts and shared them with my boyfriend as well. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for saving me from all of the things you all have had to go through. I am steering clear of the Mirena and telling all of my friends to do the same.

Hi My name is Daniela, and I just checked my spam box and saw an e-mail about Yasmin dangerous side effects, I guess it is organized by lawyers that wants you to sign up for a law suit..anyway, that made me really think about it ,and I googled to read more about the Yaz birth control. I have been taking Yaz for 16 months, I just stopped taking the drug , because I had to go to the doctor again to prescribe me some more, but since I don't have health insurance anymore I have postponed the visit. It has been two weeks since I stopped the Yaz an for the last 4 days I have had chest pains all around the breast area, my chest and back will hurt at the same time, I got scared thinking I can get a heart atack, or else. I am 32 years old, and It is very scary to me at that early age to have problems like these. But by reading your complains I am realizing the pain is from these pills. The first 4 months I have been taking Yaz, then I switch to Ocella (generic of Yaz) because it is much cheaper.And thinking back then, I started taking Yaz Oct 2007,, In Jan 2008 I went to see my doctor for depression, I got very angry, explode about stuff,and being depressed, and now I am putting all the pieces together, and I can really see all the similar thing that other women has t experienced during the time they took that medicine. Wow, I am glad that I stopped Ocella.And I will go to my doctor for a full exam.
My dad was telling me how a doctor told my brother that his liver look very bad, the doctor thought he is an alcoholic, but he is not, he just takes a lot of pills about anything to get rid of pain, cold, or else. And that info also made me think about myself. And how I should try to avoid pills to take care of minor headache or pain.

When I first started Yaz, I did not have a period the first month, then on my second month there was a little spotting one day. On the third month, my boyfriend and I noticed my lack of sex drive. Went from pulling him into the bedroom to, "I don't want to", or "I'm too tired". On the third months cycle, my period lasted 2 full weeks. I have become very tired no desire to get out of bed in the morning and have been late for work a little too often.

I have also become very moody, one moment very loving, and the next like the devil. I have also acquired a fever with no other symptoms of being ill.

I stopped taking the Yaz birth control, and in one day my energy is back my boyfriend is very happy, and I actually got up this morning at decent hour.

Pulmonary Embolism - blood clots in my lungs which were caused by a presumed blood clot in my leg, which was caused by my Yaz. This is a very dangerous situation, and I was very lucky.

Like many of you on this forum, I am glad to have found this site! First though, I would like to say that I understand not every one taking Yasmin experiences the same side effects. I understand that some women probably have wonderful experiences with this medication. However, it frustrates me that while some women might have good experiences with this drug, I think the potential for SEVERE side effects other women could experience should be much more emphasized and researched. The pamphlet inside the Yasmin packaging briefly touches on what they advertise as rare side effects that overall outweigh the benefits of this drug. I think many of the side effects listed on this forum are not even mentioned in the packet. Personally, I believe I have had a horrible experience taking Yasmin for the past 8 months. It is very frustrating to take a medication that advertises itself to help symptoms (such as MOOD SWINGS) and in fact, causes many of these horrible symptoms in some women! I am so sick of the multi-billion dollar prescription drug industry (which seems severely under-regulated by the FDA.) Has anyone seen the fancy Yaz birth control commercial? You know, with the "we're not gonna take it" song? All those skinny models prancing around in a PMS-free world??? OMG PLEASE!!! I can't believe it has taken me this long to realize all of my horrible symptoms have started and only worsened during my time on Yasmin. I thought this pill wasn't related because my skin looks beautiful, I haven't had bad cramps anymore, I've had light periods, and my boobs have gotten bigger. Sounds great, huh? But since taking Yasmin I have also had such horrible mood swings I can't control myself. I feel like a completely different person. I've become extremely impatient, irritated by everyone on this planet, I can't concentrate, and I have looked so bloated at times several people assumed I was pregnant. My self-esteem is ridiculously low, I hate myself, my mirrors, and I accuse my loving boyfriend of the most ridiculous things. I don't see how he even puts up with me! I have become so depressed I rarely want to go out. I'm EASILY offended by the slightest comments and ridiculously paranoid. It is also very hard to go out when many of my clothes (even my "fat pants" do not fit anymore!) I have thought I was crazy, almost quit my job, left my boyfriend, and seriously wanted to kill myself. I'm aware that many of these symptoms could be caused by other things, but honestly, I have contemplated so many other potential causes (such as major depression) and I realize every thing has started during these past months I've been taking Yasmin. I am 21 years old, I do not smoke, and have generally great health. I feel entirely overwhelmed...I honestly don't know what to do.

Well I thought I was crazy too! I have been taking Yasmin for 5 years now and I have been experiencing so many different side effects I thought it was just me getting older and my body was changing. I have noticed everything from major anxiety attacks, fatigue, depression, snapping uncontrollably and being on edge (I am not that kind of person) , skin dryness, discoloration after being in the sun, hair loss, ringing in my ears, I even went to the ear doctor because my husband thought I was going deaf. Also I have experienced such a bad experience with urinary tract infections as well as yiest infections which I feel is due to the Yasmin as well. I never had any of these ailments before taking this pill. About a month and a half ago I decided to cleanse my body of the pill wondering if this could be affecting me and I didn't realize how much it was until I started taking it again one month later within two days I noticed it unbelievably I felt so edgy and started snapping again immediatley. I notified my obgyn and told her what I thought she recommended taking B-6, I tried it and it didn't make a difference so I asked to switch to the YAZ which claims to help with moodiness, fatigue etc...after being on it for one month I think the effects are actually worse. I have decided to quit taking the pill all together. I can't believe people can be feeding this stuff to humans with all these side effects. I am so glad to have found this web site. I read about how YAZ birth control pill affects the body and psych and I am now scared. This is my 2nd day of YAZ (I've never been on birth control pills ever and I am 27 years old), it's all new to me but after reading all these negative posts about Yaz I don't know what to do. Before the birth control pills, I was depressed, annoying, serious weight problems - 210 lbs :~~((, low energy, low libido, always tired, terrible migraines every 2nd day, ridiculously increased appetite and excessive hunger, hair where it shouldn't be, menstrual blood clots, excessive cramping etc
I have all these problems for 3 years now and now that the family doc. put me on YAZ birth control pill I am even more scared - mainly of more weight gain, it would be a tragedy for me, I am fat enough already and what's worse I can't lose the weight, exercise doesn't help, diet doesn't help, NOTHING. Will YAZ birth control pill worsen my already tragic condition? I just don't know what to do and what to believe ... I appreciate any advice or help you can give me ... Thank You to all!
