Yeast symptoms and conditions

I have been on Nuvaring for 2 months now and after the first month I went back to the doctor and she said that the side effects were normal and would go away after a few months. I don't think I believe that, cause I just feel so bad. I use to never fight with my boyfriend and now it is an every day occurrence. I get headaches all the time now it seems almost everyday. I feel so depressed and before I got on it I was happy go lucky and the peaceful one and now I am just on edge all the time and I hate it. I get nausea and for a moment i was thinking maybe I am pregnant but I am not and it is just frustrating and irritating. The best things about the ring is I don't really get cramps and no period pimples and no weight gain and no pill everyday. I never had there problems on the pill lo overall or on the patch. I must say though that it feels great to know I am not alone cause I was beginning to think it was just me and also i don't know if anyone has this but does your chest or heart feel tight at time like a palpitation? I am 24 and I never had this until now and I am so tired that all I want to do is sleep and I feel faint from time to time. I feel like i have all the bad symptoms except a few and no yeast. I honestly think this is my last month on this and thank you all so much it is such a relief to know I am not alone. Oh and I do get hot too and everything.

WOW!!! I wish I would have had access to this site sooner!! After 5 LONG years-yesterday I finally got my Mirena removed! I was asked if I wanted to get another one placed yesterday-I took a pass on it! I was told I could always change my mind & to give them a call when I was ready. After reading this & realizing my own side effects I WILL NOT be getting another one. I too have had some, if not, most of these side effects-but I only related the moodiness & weight gain as my only side effects from the Mirena. I'm always tired, all I want to do is be in bed all day. I have many LOW days-and sometimes any stupid commercial on TV would set me to tears-NO JOKE! Any little thing would set me off like a mad woman! And the headaches!-Oh the headaches!! My hair has been falling out a lot over the past few years (I'm talking small handfuls-daily!) I thought it was just due to the stress in my life. Since my last child-5 years ago, I gained 35 lbs that I CANNOT seem to lose, & once again-I thought it was just stress.My face has been breaking out-which I thought was INSANE because what I didn't have to put up with my teenage years-I now had to deal with. I would also too get night sweats, but just figured it was due to me being overweight. As far as the insertion-I can't really complain. I had very little cramping, & my period went away quick. The first 6 months was just occasional spotting, and after that they completely went away. It didn't affect my sex drive. But for the past 2 years-it's been haunting me that I hadn't had a period-(it's seems funny, but after 10 years of having it every month, & then for them just to not come at all-I never got used to it). I think the past 6 months have been the worst. I kept getting yeast infection that would go away w/treatment, but 2 weeks later, it was back. I had also been getting SEVERE cramping from time to time. They would only last through that day, but a few days later they'd be back. You figure I would have gone to get it removed, but reason for not having it removed was because this was the best method I had used, & didn't want the risk of having a pregnancy that we were not prepared for. I considered the other IUD (the copper one?), but my sister had worse problems with that one-extreme weight gain, cramping & periods lasting more that 2 weeks! I also considered the shot, but involves to many trips to the gyno-so I'm back to an older method........THE PILL, until we decide on having another child, or not to have any more, I am comfortable with the decision that I have made. I hope this helps some of you going through these same experiences I have gone through. I look forward to a Happier Tomorrow! (even w/the periods) =D

I had just gotten married and never been on any type of birth control. i decided that since i was a forgetful person the best option was the nuvaring and my husband agreed. my gyno gave me the script and i swear not 8 hours after i put the thing in i was more sensitive. i stayed on the nuvaring for 8 months. i had serious depression, i slept the majority of the day, i'd even sleep at work. i had no sex drive, which doesn't make since, b/c i was a newly wed. i would be angry with my husband if he didn't say i love you in the right way. i had never had any problems in the vag department, and then all of a sudden i had cramps that you couldn't imagine, yeast and bacterial infections and itching that could not go away. i thought my body was just transitioning or something. i had to eat like 24/7... i was always snacking and i have hyperthyroidism so its hard to gain weight but i gained like 15 pounds one week then dropped 20 the next. i hated my life and my family. when my husband would ask me what was wrong i just couldn't tell him b/c i barely knew who i was.

ive been on sronyx for about 3 weeks, and besides forgetting to take it here and there, i am back to my old self, i can have fun and i don't cry if someone tells me i look nice. lol i would definitely caution anyone who is even thinking about the nuvaring, to really do your research!

I have been prescribed a 20 day course of flagyI. I was prescribed this med for a uterine staph infection caused by an iud...as you can imagine I was ready for any antibiotic that would bring relief. I tried a few antib's (Cipro, Macrobid, Doxycyline) before flagyl while the drs waited for the culture to return from the lab...flagyl brought immediate ( 24 hours) help with the staph but causes metal mouth, a woozy feeling and a strange aching in my feet. In my situation the side effects are worth it...Also the severity of the side effects have been temporary, as the bacteria die off the toxins they leave behind will leave your system and ease the side effects. It is important to replenish your natural bacteria while taking antib with probiotics in yogurt and supplements this helps me with the yeast problems also taking Caprylic Acid and coconut oil have kept yeast under control. Stopping your antib treatment before the course is through can cause a relapse in your symptoms worse than the original illness and can cause antib resistant bacteria...MRSA (bad stuff!!!) I was diagnosed with pneumonia on July 6 and prescribed Levaquin 500 mg for 10 days. I took my last pill tonight and could not understand the pain in my right hip, red eyes which I suspect comes from the insomnia I have been experiencing since July 10. I am still having difficulty sleeping and tonight I feel extremely tire with discomfort in the back and shoulders. I wish I had read these comments earlier, I would have discontinue using this drug. I have not experience any depression, but lack of appetite, stomach pain and upset stomach. I have had intermittent diarrhea. How long will it take for this drug to get out of my system.

Hi I am 21 years old and have been on the Nuvaring for about a year now. I have experienced many of the symptoms you have all spoken about. Hair loss, decreased sex drive( which scares me because i am so young and i am in a serious relationship in which my boyfriend has a high sex drive ( he 22) and he noticed my sex drive dwindling and wanted to know what changed. It has been a huge problem in our relationship.) I have not experienced weight gain that i have noticed. But i experience extreme pain/burning during and after sex. One of the side effects of the nuvaring is vaginitis which has pain n burning as its side effects. I have been to several doctors for the pain as it is disrupting my sex life and making sex unbearable at times. However they all dismissed the nuvaring as the cause and suggested that it may just be a mindset and i need to get into sex more. Which i think is bull im 21 and very much in love with my boyfriend and have a healthy sexual relationship so having a negative mental state word that seems ludacris to me. I have had std sti blood tests and been tested for yeast and blatter infections. Nothing seems to be wrong with me but i know i have never experienced this before and the nuvaring has been a constant through the pain. If anyone has experienced anything like this please let me know.

I'm so glad I found this! I thought I was going mad for a while there. Background: I'm a 34 yr old female. Diagnosed w/ asthma at 12, but they suspect I had it before that. Used only Ventolin for a long time. Five years ago, right around the time I had my second child, my symptoms (and allergies) seemed to get much worse. We moved around that time, to a house with a HUGE Chinese elm in the backyard (which I now know I'm allergic to) and right next to a main freeway. Around this time, Dr. prescribed Advair 250/50 when he realized I was using Ventolin up to 6 & 7 times/ day. The first year, I actually felt so much better (I could BREATHE!!) that I think I wouldn't have noticed any side affects. Year two I had MAJOR hair thinning. Dr said "age and hormones". Following 3 years on it: Almost constant nasal congestion (despite always being on a decongestant), sinus infection, tonsil infections, laryngitis, TWO bouts of pneumonia in 3 years. Around the year mark on it, I did experience the depression and anxiety, however, I had had the "baby blues" with my first child and just thought it was a more severe version of that. Now, I feel CONSTANTLY "run down" and almost always have some low-grade infection (yeast, UTI, sinus, bronchitis...etc.), am always hoarse and am just waiting for another round of pneumonia. I also get dizzy A LOT. I am in the second day of a cold turkey quit and am looking for alternative diet/exercise therapies. Good Luck to everyone!

Ive been taking Doxy for 6 days now, after about 4 days I began to have a very itchy burning scrotum. Also have a very "warm" feeling in my chest. Can anyone else confirm the symptoms with the itchy genital region? It is quite red and painful. Lanacane seems to provide some temporary relief. Thanks for your input.

PS. If you've removed the Mirena and are trying to get your hair to grow back, this method was told to me by a friend in her late 60s with beautiful waist-length hair who used to go to a famous salon in New York (George Michael on Fifth Avenue). She has had severe seborrhea in the past and George told her about this treatment:

Solgar Brewer's Yeast, powdered (nothing else is good enough). One rounded tablespoon stirred into about 6 oz of water (not carbonated) immediately before bed - after using the bathroom one last time. Do this every night, no cheating, for 90 days. Pause for 30 days, then repeat if necessary. It must be powdered yeast; capsules/tablets won't do it.

I'm only 2 weeks into my first treatment with the yeast, and I still have the Mirena (but not for long), so I can't report on its effectiveness -- yet.

Wow, this site has been very informative. I have had the mirena since May of 2007. I haven't experienced any of the bad cramping, except the first couple of days after insertion, nor have I experienced hair loss or bad acne. My one complaint is that I have never had a yeast infection before having the mirena. I have probably had 4 or 5 within the last 6 months. I thought it was just my body, but after reading this I am considering having mine removed. In the last few months, I experienced vaginal itching and burning. I have used over the counter medications, which relieves the effects and gets rid of the infection, but it seems like after my partner and I have intercourse it comes right back. My last pap was 5 months ago and everything was fine. I know it's no STD and my partner and I are monogamous. The yeast infections are driving me crazy and I'm relieved to know that it's not just me.

I am 38 years old and was on NR for maybe six months. I kept telling my Dr. I wasn't very pleased with it, but she encouraged me to stay with it. Finally, tired of it, I stopped and really regret not following my gut feeling in the beginning. I put on so much weight in my stomach only and looked to be about 8 months pregnant, and had gotten a blood clot in my right leg. I was also always having to push it back up in me from it slipping out. Only one time in my early 20's have I ever had an abnormal pap., but three months after being on NR I haven't had a normal one since. Constant yeast and bacteria infections. I have now been through a painful test, and should be starting some kind of procedure to get rid of my abnormal cells on April 3. I am so frustrated and scared of what is going on inside of me. My Dr. doesn't seem to feel any of this has anything to do with the nr, but I strongly disagree. I feel like she is getting something from the company for giving out prescriptions.

I had the mirena placed about 2 months ago, a year after my daughter was born. i was ready to start dating again and i figured this was a safe second protection for me. 2-3 weeks later i had a yeast infection, i've never had a yeast infection in my life, i'm 29yrs old. I was so scared i thought i had an STD. I scheduled an apt ASAP with my primary care Dr. yes it was a yeast infection but i did not think it was the mirena. After that my "girl" hasn't been the same. ive had this slight burning sensation all the time. my "girl" is swollen and irritated and i now have another yeast infection. I became concerned and started to research yeast infection and came across this site and instantly I knew what was wrong. i'm getting this thing out my body instantly. I'm also hypothyroid because of thyroidectomy surgery and thought my new symptoms were because my synthroid doses were being adjusted once again but now it seems the mirena is also to blame. Either way i'm getting the mirena out because of the yeast infection alone. this is making me crazy.

I returned to the doctor today to get a different antibiotic because Avelox made me worse off than the sinus infection I had. I stopped taking it about two weeks ago and still have side effects from the drug. My doctor had given it to me about two other times. The last time I recall was in November. I didn't finish taking my prescription then either.
I thought maybe I was having flu symptoms also, but it was the drug making me more ill. RASH, HIVES, RED HANDS, SWOLLEN TONGUE THRUSH, BUMPS ON MY TONGUE, TINGLING IN MY BACK, VOMITING,HEADACHES, PAIN IN MY STOMACH NOT LONG AFTER TAKING A DOSAGE. FREEZING HANDS, THROAT FEELS LIKE IT'S CLOSING UP AND DIFFICULTY SWALLOWING, COULDN'T GET OUT OF BED, MUSCLE FATIGUE, ACHES WEAKNESS, JOINTS HURT, TINGLING IN HANDS, ANXIETY,CRYING SPELLS, NIGHTMARES, SKIN SENSITIVITY, INSOMNIA, THEN EXTREME FATIGUE, DIZZINESS AND LIGHT HEADED UPON STANDING AND/OR GETTING UP FROM A SITTING OR SQUATING POSITION. EVERYTHING HURTS ALL THE TIME IN EVERY MUSCLE...... I BASICALLY FEEL LIKE I AM DYING.
My fiance thought I was totally losing my mind. I was moody, aggressive, irritable, depressed etc... I felt like like a different person.. My fiance of course got sick also and his doctor prescribed it to him. His side effects included muscle aches and pains and extreme fatigue and mood swings. I looked up some side effects when I was started taking it a few weeks ago, but didn't pursue the research until the side effects got worse. I took it for 7 days this time. My fiance took it for three days. I called him at work after seeing this website and told him to stop taking the medication immediately. I am still sick with a sinus infection, and a whole slew of other crap going on. I called the doctors office and went in right away to get a different medication. To no avail, when I went to my doctors office there was a rep from Avelox there. I said don't give that Avelox to anyone sarcastically. I then saw his tag on his shirt and his bag full of Avelox samples. He asked what type of symptoms I had and I told him.. He said he would report it to the company.... What do you think they will do about it? MOST LIKELY NOTHING. I am an educated person with the capability and time to research anything I need to and I will do my best to dig up the most dirt I possibly can about this horrible medication. They need to stop pushing these meds on doctors to give us and make us more ill than we were to begin with. I JUST HOPE MY AILMENTS AREN'T PERMANENT. People try to make light of the situation because they don't want to be sued. I think the FDA needs to be revamped and the Government should stop letting these pharmaceutical companies poison us. I AM NOT EXAGGERATING EITHER! DO NOT TAKE IT.
I have been going to my doctor for about fifteen years and she never gave me any medication that had made me this ill. I get samples a lot because I have no insurance. Sometimes she gives me scripts. Today I got Zithromax which always worked well for me in the past. Very little side effects. I realize that everyone reacts differently to certain meds, but come on now! It isn't just a coincidence that all of us commenting and complaining here are imagining these horrible side effects! Today I got Zithromax which always worked well for me in the past. (Very little side effects).Then why did I ever have to take Avelox if there are other antibiotics that will make me better not worse. They push these meds on doctors to give to us that's why! I always trusted and admired my doctor. She always treats me well and does right by me. What is going on with these medical companies?! SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS!

I have something that Yaz does..its kinda embarrassing but I know it has to be the Yaz. In November I noticed this funny discharge. It didn't smell. but I was wondering if it was a yeast but then I figured it might be the Yaz so I quit taking it and it went away. Well this month I decided to start taking the yaz again and sure enough my discharge is back. What is that? also I have chest pains, leg cramps, overwhelming nausea, brain fog, and breast tenderness. But unlike most the others it did help my sex drive which was very little, helped my PMDD, and periods became lighter. I also don't think I gained weight on that but I don't know. I have been craving a lot of sweets and am afraid to check my weight..lol.

I have had Mirena since Oct. 2007 and ever since have had frequent yeast and bacterial infections. Also my stomach has these gas pain attacks where I feel like I am going to die, it hurts all the way up my back and feels like a huge ball of air is trapped in my stomach. I also have pain all the way up both sides of my chest as this happens. I never made a connection to the mirena just thought I had some weird problem. My strings also disappeared and I had to pay nearly 300 just to make sure the thing was still in there. I was told if he can't get them he will need to do a surgical procedure to remove it- great and I got this to avoid surgery of have tubes tied! I have also been moody, depressed, no sex drive and when I had strings they poked my husband and made sex difficult. I spot constantly and I too have ruined all my panties from this brown old blood that comes out unexpectedly. My husband insists that I have it removed and after seeing that I am not alone in what I am experiencing I am going to see my doctor as soon as he opens. I have been up most the night with one of those gas pain attacks and I am miserable! I recently have been feeling as though something is kicking me in my intestine or stomach area too and I too look pregnant all the time and in fact the 20lbs that I need to loose is all belly! Has anyone had any problems with their hair? I've always had healthy and thick hair with awesome body. Now, my hair is very dry, brittle, and dull. It has no life. I have split ends horribly and it's broken off really bad. It may seem as if I'm exaggerating a bit, but I am absolutely telling the truth. I've had the mirena for a year now; since January 2008. No major problems. But I have notice also as someone mentions on here previously about the horrible discharge and it's odor. (All of this has been going about 4 months after having mirena inserted). I had a culture done about 3 months ago and doctor says it's a bacterial infection and yeast, but it isn't sexually transmitted. Doctor says my pH balance is way off. I took the medication, my husband used a condom, and still the bacterial infection came back. But what I really want to know is can anyone tell me about the hair loss?

I used loestrin for a little over a year. The first 6 months of taking this pill were great. I had a 1-2 day period which was wonderful. After 6 months I started with this abnormal discharge that was itchy. The itching turned into burning and everything down there would get swollen and red. I was tested for every STD there is and everything was negative. The doctor did find yeast a microscopic exam every time I was there. All these symptoms started in the second week of pills each month. I am now using the nuvaring and praying that the same thing does not happen with this. Did/Does anyone else have this problem?

Someone please reply! Is there a difference between ortho lo and the generic version of it?So can this pill make u lose some weight? Is that common? Also it can make your boobs bigger? IS that common? Wouldn't it be great if I lost 15 pounds and went up a boob size,lol!

I am so happy to have found this site, I only wish I would have researched prior to having Mirena inserted. I have had The Mirena IUD for nearly three years. I thoroughly enjoyed having decreased flow and some months not having a period at all. However now I realize its probably one of the worst decisions I ever made. Only recently have I come realize that my fatigue, inability to concentrate, loss of memory, lack of interest in anything including sex, weight gain, constant yeast and bacterial infections were most likely due to the IUD and not due to anything that I was doing wrong. I have had bouts with depression and have been on meds for that, however it seemed like I was a basket case, over anxious and often times a nervous wreck. There were days recently where I was lethargic, lacked motivation to do anything. Then I'd have a good day, a day where I felt energized and thought, well maybe it was just the gloomy weather. Now I have come to realize it had to be the IUD. That is the only thing that makes sense. I made an appointment and got the IUD removed yesterday and already I can tell a difference in the way I feel. I woke up this morning feeling well rested for the first time in three years. I am looking forward to getting back to the "old me" rather than just a shell of of person that lacked motivation to do anything. I wish I would have investigated further and not listened to my Nurse Practitioner all these years that told me over and over that my symptoms were not the cause of the IUD.

Wow I can't believe all of the stuff I am finding. Here is my issue...I have had the mirena for almost 2 years now and I didn't seem to have any trouble with it. I had the usual depression, dizziness, faint, and just feeling like I am in a fog. But of course I just thought it was because I had two children under 2 and I was very tired. So on top of all of that I have been dealing with some sort of horrible vaginal infection that is causing severe itching. It always gets worse when the secretion of the mirena allows it's way out every month. Has anyone had this problem? I have been to the Dr. every month since April. First it was yeast, then it was yeast and something other thing, then it was just this other thing(I can't remember what its called) Nothing has helped and I am tired of the itching problem. I am really considering getting this removed but then I have to figure something else out for birth control. Not sure what to do.

I was on Nuvaring for 2 months and it changed my mood drastically. I recommend that women not go on this medication. Within 4 days of inserting my first ring, I experienced severe mood swings including hostility and anger and sadness. The emotional pain was unbearable. All my insecurities and anxieties were amplified and I found I became aggressive with mainly my boyfriend. I experienced severe anxiety. Then the sex: PAINFUL, BURNING during and after sex. Vaginal dryness, or more like the little lube I did have was very thick and unslipery. At first I thought I was making it up because I was nervous about being on hormonal birth control (I had wanted to avoid it but the gynecologist said my uterus was too small for an IUD). But several times we tried to have sex and the pain kept coming back. It felt like being stabbed. And then I had constant burning while peeing. I was finally put on some kind of special yeast medication. The NuvaRing severely impaired my life and relationship. I urge you to be CAREFUL and INSIST if your doctor tells you "it's not your birth control". I went of the pill after the Nuvaring and ended up being diagnosed with MAJOR DEPRESSION. I went off the pill 4 days ago and will NEVER ever use hormonal contraception again.

I posted here on July 15, and would like to update.
(I had been on Yasmin for 3 years and got off it at the end of June, then experienced severe migraine and fatigue as well as weight gain of 6lb in a few days)

On July 16 I had a little bleeding, and migraine stopped. Then, within a few days, my skin and hair became very oily. A few pimples appeared on my face. I hadn't had a pimple for 6-7 years and my skin had been dry. I keep losing and gaining a few pounds in a day, and my fingers and face swell especially when I get up in the morning. I had migraine and felt extremely tired on August 12 - 15. On August 16, I got my 'period' that felt fake - even lighter than when I was on Yasmin. It started very slowly, and very light flow continued for about 5-6 days. No cramp.

I don't feel normal yet. I get water retention, and my skin is still very oily. I got a pimple on my neck and some on face. My skin feels very irritated and feels like there're tiny pimples all over my face. I feel overly worried about things that are beyond my control.
Good news is my sex drive recovered and I haven't had yeast or BV.

I am taking 5mg of Lisinopril daily..the first 2 weeks was okay but then I developed a yeast infection that I can't get rid of. I stopped taking Lisinopril for one day and it seemed like it eased up...but I was afraid to just stop the Lisinporil so I started again and the infection is horrible. Doctor says it's not from the pill but I've had it ever since I've taken it. Anyone else have this problem??

My mother in law has been told that she not only got yeast in her lungs (aspergillus) from Advair but yeast was also found her gut, and her pylori valve stopped working and she almost had to go on a permanent feeding tube and everything made her sick. When they cut her open to insert the tube they found the yeast. I have something going on that includes terrible headache, nausea, vomiting and loose bowel. I can't say at this point for certain it is the advair but I have been taking it for over 15 years daily. These symptoms occur 2-3 times a month and wipe me out for a full day.
