I am a freshman in college. I took college classes in high school so it was no shock when i got into college on how classes would be. I was a cheerleader in high school i love people and was one of those girls that always smiled and loved life. I started taking YAZ my senior year for heavy periods, for the first few months it worked great, then i started have these dizzy spells insane migraines that would make me throw up and i started passing out. I never thought my birth control could be the cause of this. Eager to start college and meet new people I took summer classes so i could get adjusted early. I started passing out more often have HORRIBLE panic attacks and I would pass out when i had these panic attacks, i even passed out and feel down the stairs, today i passed out while driving and wreck my car. That is when my aunt and I started looking into YAZ and the side effects. I hate being around people now, I always want to sleep and I am an emotional mess. I have horrible mood swings, horrible head aches, and the panic attacks are the worse part. At first i though i was going crazy and no one could figure out what was wrong with me i have had every test run in the world. I finally mentioned to my gyno today that i am on YAZ and she immediately took me off of YAZ. It is so good to know that I am not the only one going through this. Another thing is i CAN"T sleep at night. No matter how hard i try i can't sleep. My boyfriend thinks i am crazy because i seriously don't need sleep. My appetite what changed also. I am not hungry and have lost weight. This is such a pain and i pray that no one else has to go through this. It is awful it has changed my life so much and it has made my family a nervous wreck. I advise anyone that is on this pill PLEASE get off of it or go talk to someone! It ruined my life, i was once a goal oriented young girl with all my dreams and goals ahead of me and now i am struggling to keep my life together!!! :( Please if u would like to talk to me or ask questions please do i would love to help anyone who is going through this. God Bless!

I'm 26 years old and have been taking Yasmin for about 4 years. I started taking birth control pills when I was 16 prescribed by my dermatologist for acne control. I first started taking orthotricylene which worked just fine and did everything it was supposed to do. My gyno switched me to a different pill (for no reason really) when I got married at 19. I can't remember the name of it, but it was the worst 2 months of my life. I cried every day for no reason. The gyno believed it had too low of a dose of hormones for what my body needed. My doctor switched me to back to orthotricylene again. 4 years ago I began having MAJOR acne problems (mostly due to stress from a divorce). My dermatologist put me on Yasmin. My acne cleared up, my sex drive is normal, I haven't lost or gained weight, my periods are short and normal, and I don't have any cramps or negative side effects. My point is ladies, (like so many others have said on here) everyone's body reacts differently to different pills. I didn't do well on one type of birth control, but I do great on others. Same thing goes for different types of anti-depressants, etc. Quit self diagnosing. That's what doctors are for. Sure there are woman out there who have suffered major side affects from this pill. Guess what? Some people suffer major side affects from taking other medications too! It's unfortunate, but it happens. If you have concerns, go to your doctor, don't just quit taking a medication prescribed to you. Your doctor will find out what is causing the problem. Funny, cause isn't that what we pay them to do?

My daughter, age 15, received the 3 doses of Gardasil on December 28th, 2009. Within 10 minutes after the injection into her left arm she felt extremely dizzy, her eyes rolled back into her head several times, her head wobbled like a newborn baby who can't support their head, she broke out in a sweat, her legs were like rubberbands and down she went!! Passed out even before reaching the exit door of her pediatricians office! She lay there twitching and shaking with seizure movements and the nurse took her blood pressure which was 92/30!! Nurse said this was very low, and that this is happening to a LOT of their patients that are receiving Gardasil! Tell me why and how this vaccine is considered to be safe and necessary when it is slowing girls heart rate down so low that they are passing out and not getting enough oxygen to their brain?!?! My daughter is extremely healthy, and active in sports, never fainted or had seizures in her life, came into the office walking on her own two feet and wound up on the floor shaking and twitching with seizures!! I am highly concerned and angry with this topic!! Why isn't this being looked into more and possibly pulled off the market? The doctors office said they do NOT need to report this to the FDA because it's listed as a possibly side effect. BULL!!!!!! How is anyone going to know what's happening with our girls if nothing is being documented and reported! Mom's and daughters out there, please get online and report this yourselves to the website VAERS. This needs to be addressed. It's killing girls! Go onto the internet and research side effects of Gardasil, up to 30 some women have died shortly after receiving this vaccine! The heart is something we should not be messing with, would the drug company Merck & Co. want to have a vaccine injected into their arm that drops them to the floor and have seizures?? And possibly DEATH!!!! My e-mail is ******

Oh Ladies - these postings are ALARMING to say least. I'm sooo angry w/ myself I didn't visit this site prior to getting mine 3 short months ago and even more pissed off that I asked OB all the wrong questions & that we are all having so many horrific side effects!!
I’m 31... was pregnant for about 4 months earlier this year prior to Mirena……I’ll try to summarize.
Earlier this yr when I neglected to refill BC pills on time…. And as fate would have it… a surprise pregnancy resulted from 1 (only 1) night of unprotected . . ex-boyfriend sex…..
I knew then - as I do now- he would never be in my/our life ….. these things among others… are totally ONME!!
During this devastating decision making process - - Mother nature decided such things for me. An utterly brutal, long & painful miscarriage followed. Pain and bleeding lasted way longer than should have, long story short there…. But my womb survived and I absolutely still want kids (always have w/ Mr right).
So my OB wanted best solution for me = that was Mirena so he thought. I didn’t know anything….. Just sounded so great, no pill to take (or forget to), no condoms needed while monogamous like w/ the pill …. I wouldn’t notice it - my partner wouldn’t notice it….. Sounds good - for 5 yrs!! Was done deal before I thinking twice.
Pre-Mirena
During the months I was pregnant, I had all the typical stuff…..
- weight gain
- breasts tender/bigger
- sex drive normal/high
- lots of vomiting - morning (late afternoon 4me)
- emotional highs
Post-Mirena side effects I would NOT have dreamed of:
- STINKY discharge!!!!
STINKY!!! Comes with period … without period … all the time stinky since the IUD!!! I’ve had yeast in the past - I’ve had urinary infections - I’ve even had stinky personal habits as young girl/athlete ….. I’ve Never been ‘stinky’ regularly like this for NO good reason. NOT EVEN HAVING SEX, so cannot blame it on that! *see next bullet* . . . And 3rd bullet . .
- ZERO sex drive!
As if the stinky business isn’t enough?? I don’t even Want to now - and I‘ve always WANTED to!!! ….. And who would want me stinky anyway!!!! I want my old Vag back
- DAILY DIARRHEA
The list keeps getting BETTER n better, I know!!!! as if #1 & 2 weren’t enough
Common Post-Mirena - more common side effects (makes me sad to read others with virtually the same comments):
I’m miserable because my body looks like I’m still pregnant and almost like the belly/abdomen is getting bigger every day . . The weight just keeps gaining I KNOW IT without stepping on that GD scale… I had a pair of spanx on today at work (the old reliable pair) under a long skirt and by mid-morning was in the bathroom removing them because I could NOT breathe - sweating, anxious & just too fat for these 3 month old spanx….. they were so tight around my fat freaking belly that my breasts were rubbing up against my chin…..THAT’S not right! And my boobs are NOT big at all. This is a crazy WAAAY to good to be true device and I hate myself for letting my OB talk me into it. I can hardly see my laptop keys over my fat & ridiculous belly! Butt is not exactly good either….. but who cares when you are growing horizontally from the midsection .with NO BUN in the oven . . Can’t tell if I’m coming or going!!!??? Gee, I’m far from a sexy beast that’s for sure!!!!
Good luck ladies.. I’ll try to post more positive updates (assuming & hoping they come)!!!

I took Ambien CR for about 2 years and have experienced not only memory loss of the time while on the medication, but also longer term memory loss as well. Even now I find it hard to remember significant things from years ago that I would normally be able to remember easily, and I am only 24. No reason for memory loss and it all started with the Ambien CR. I have done the drive and not remember thing, the cleaning with no recollection of it the next day, the wondering who ate all the food, etc. At one point I actually called my employer at 3AM to explain what I was still doing awake. I worked day shift and had off the next day anyway! I woke up to a voice mail from the supervisor and found out I was fired. I had zero memory of the incident and thought I was being set up by someone until I checked my cell phone records and found it to be true. Friends have also questioned me about late night calls and visits, some I somewhat remember after being "reminded," some I did not. When I was first prescribed this medication I was having these crazy nightmares before I actually fell asleep and would act them out or run from them. One was a young girl playing ball in the road and my boyfriend said I actually ran out in the street at to save her and fought him when he tried to bring me back inside. Obviously no one was actually playing in the road. Even towards the end of using the drug at times I will go through the first few hours of the day with the same forgetful effect that I would have had the night before. I have also gained 20 pounds, not sure if it's from the excessive night eating or the sluggish feeling I got the next day. Once the pill kicked in for me at night I would feel a sudden urge to finish up household chores, or get what some people call "the creative phase" of Ambien CR. I would write poetry (illegibly), cook (usually starting small fires), draw (not well), redecorate, and talk philosophically, none of which I remember. The pill works wonderfully as long as you go straight to bed. After using it awhile you may recognize the energized feeling as actually being the reverse, the pill taking effect, and I could go to bed and fall right to sleep. But I had quite a few dangerous situations and I wouldn’t be able to take it when I was home alone, just in case I missed that "deadline." I agree it is a very risky drug, but then again most drugs are. I do not suggest taking this if you are alone at least until you experience the way you react to it. If these symptoms are an issue for you as well you can always try Lunesta. That worked quite well for me, with none of these weird side effects. The worst I got was a weird taste in the morning, which subsided with breakfast.

didn't have Mirena, but another kind of IUC or IUD whatever you want to call it. I sure hope young women know they could die. Sorry to see these things back on the market. At age 21 I had complications, the device embedded in my uterus and became infected. No one wanted to admit it was the iud. The infection turned into acute peritonitis which is usually fatal. I did live, but had to have a complete hysterectomy. A bit extreme for a 21 year old. Spent 3 months in agony in the hospital. Took 2 years to recover. I had all the side effects associated with premature menopause - premature wrinkling, loss of interest in sex, not to mention no more kids for me.
I later did some research to find out that stones were inserted into camels to prevent pregnancy during long trips. The camels died screaming in agony in the desert from the stones. It works about the same on women.

I'm 46, female.. developed blood clots on my lungs for apparently no reason, found them when going to ER and complaining of bad headache, nausea and left shoulder and back pain. I haven't had a recent surgery, nor was on birth control.
I'm dealing with anxiety, depression, unusual headache, horrible back and upper shoulder pain, itching of head, hair falling out during shampooing, , tightness in chest, trouble swallowing, really bad pain in hips, legs and feel like feet swell. I don't sleep well, even on Ambien.. doesn't keep me asleep. I awake in the mornings around 4:30 with diarrhea, nausea, headache and feel awful. Never get a good nights sleep. My hips hurt as well as dealing with parathesias down right arm and into hand.. feels like needles sticking in my hand. Most days I feel wiped out in the afternoon.. as I try and drag myself out of bed to get some excersise.
Does anyone deal with parathesia's down their arms or hands.. what feels like nerve pain?
Has anyone ever tried Aggrenox, also known as Dipyridamole instead?
Or actually tried the real Coumadin, instead of the generic Warfarin?
Has any other woman out there been told not to use a tampon when on her cycle, as this will cause more menstrual bleeding?
I'm so tired of Dr.'s not having personal experience of their own with this drug.. and telling the patient that they are crazy and need to be on anxiety meds or anti-depressants. I just found out that Warfarin is the main ingredient in RAT POISON..
Has anyone EVER gone the totally nutrition route, juiced and gone radical, telling their Dr.'s that they were getting off of all meds?
Does anyone suffer from feeling like their ears are full, or hearing loss?
I'm so tired of feeling afraid.. and tossed around by Dr.'s who really don't want to do the research, nor listen to their patients.
I'd love to hear from anyone who has some insight..on any or all of the questions..

Has anyone had extreme heavy bleeding/clots after having the Mirena removed? This is day 3. The last time I had such heavy bleeding I had just had my son. When do you start to worry about the bleeding?

I've also experienced many of the same side effects. I was on NuvaRing for 3 years and on the pill for 5 years before that. For me I found the changes very subtle. My sex drive was not effected right away, but it just kept getting lower and lower. I was doing grad school so I was getting more and more stressed and thought that that had something to do with it, so I ignored it. I was also much more anxious, depressed, short tempered, unmotivated, fatigued and oh, did I mention depressed! I honestly thought it was all due to the stress I was experiencing in grad school, but I did feel like something may be up. A lot of my symptoms were similar to hypothyroidism (oh yeah, I also gained 30 lbs after switching from the pill to NuvaRing) so I got tested, but my thyroid was fine. I had heard about the increased risk of blood clots for the patch, so I wanted to find out if the risk was also heightened for NuvaRing, so I googled a bit and came across some other sites like this one and saw how similar other peoples situations were to mine. I went off it 3 weeks ago (after only having a new ring in for one week) and I got a really long and heavy period right away. Since then I've been having mild cramps until today where they are the worst I've ever had. On the bright side, everyone has noticed how much happier I am - I really feel like my old self again. I haven't been depressed or stressed since I've been off NuvaRing!! It's so awesome. We've switched to non-hormonal contraceptive methods - I wanted to give my body a break and I may be trying for babies in the next year. Anyway - for those of you considering going off - TRY IT!! It can't hurt (except maybe for some cramping :D) If you don't start to feel better you can always go back on. It has made a huge difference in my life. I too was considering suicide at 26 when I'm normally a really happy person. My mom has also noticed that my moods are much more stable - apparently I was going a bit bipolar before!

I recently discovered that my Yasmin birthcontrol could be what is making me feel anxious and depressed lately. It comes in bursts one or more times a day where I feel lots of axiety, depressed and thoughts that I cant live like this anymore. I have stopped taking it and was wondering if anyone knew anything that could help me to relax when ever I start feeling out of control. I'm hoping to get it all out of my system soon and start feeling back to normal again. I'm tired of feeling scaired and sad and anxious. Any one else feel the same way? Any success stories from stopping the pill and how soon did you start feeling good again?

Like so many of you, I am so glad that I finally have confirmation that many of the symptoms that I was experiencing while taking Yasmin, was indeed due to the medication. The really sad part about it is, I was on the pill for many years and was aware of many of the side effects, and even thought that the horrible headaches, loss of libido, vaginal dryness and recurrent yeast infections were due to the drug, but I continued to take it. It wreaked havoc on my marriage and caused my husband to think that I was just not interested in him. The clincher- I am a physician!! Now 2 kids and a bilateral tubal ligation later, I wish that I had switched to another pill at the onset of the symptoms. I wish you all good luck with your situations and urge you that are still on this particular pill to get off.
