Zanax symptoms and conditions

ive been taking for 2 years im lightheaded all the time dry mouth and im more nervous and anxious when i take it. at first it was helping me.Now it just makes things worse and trying to stop it is hard.I'm trying to dose off of it now i was taking half of 1 mg a day then 1 mg a day now im trying to half the half and im just getting worse i wouldn't recommend taking alprazolam(zanax)yes it calms you down for a little bit bit in the long run its no good.Oh yeah have bad dreams on it(a side effect) and also wake up with racing feeling at night maybe 5 times a night.

I am a 21 year old female. I have been on 25mg Toprol (twice a day) for over a year now. I was having intense heart palpitations from scary panic attacks... this drug basically cured my heart irregularity. When I first started taking Toprol I experienced some muscle cramps but that lasted less than a week. Overall I have NOT experienced ANY negative side effects from this drug. It is one of the best things I have ever done for myself. I was so scared before due to having at least 5 ‘episodes’ a day with my heart… now I may only have 2 – 3 per week. Such a wonderful improvement! It has really changed my life for the better.

I don't have a new side affect with Prednisone but just want to share my feelings. I was diagnosed with Temporal Arthritis since last July 2007. I started taking 60 mg of Prednisone for 1 month. Didn't notice the side affects then. Weaned myself off through my doctor's instructions. But relapse occurred when I was only on 2 daily. With Temporal Arthritis, you get delibating and horrendous head pain which is caused due to inflammation of the main artery in the temple. I am back to 3 daily.
Besides my moon face, I am bigger. I really don't have a lot of the other side affects you all talk about. I am sorry you all have to go through that.
My depression is better. My sleep is horrible. Now I am going to a sleep study to see if I have Sleep Apnea.
I consider Prednisone a wonder drug. Although the side affects are horrible, I have to admit, I feel much better, most of the time. I do have inflammation in the neck. Not sure if that is pred or temporal arthritis, but am seeing a rheumatologist for that.

My story is long....I have been taking Yasmin for almost 2.5 years, since having my son. About 8 months after starting the pill we relocated to another state. About 6 months after that I began having shortness of breath and anxiety. I thought it was due to our relo, which was all positive but still those things can be stressful. My doctor thought it was anxiety and prescribed Zanax. I rarely took them...seemed like the anxiety subsided. A few months later I was back at my doctors office with extreme nausea and this crazy burning sensation down my arms and on my chest. I was diagnosed with H Pylori and treated for that and then had an endoscopy and found I had mild chronic gastritis. I was on Prevacid and then finally prescription Zantac for that. I went a few months and then the shortness of breath returned and I began having heart palpations. I then went back to my doctor. My heart rate was elevated so she sent me over to a cardiologist. He said my heart was fine. I then came down with a stomach virus, which is what I thought at the time, and ended up not taking my pill for 2 days and then began menstruating. I stayed off of it for a month and continued to have this terrible burning sensation on my skin. I started a new pill pack the next month and that's when the real hell began. I woke up around 1:30am with severe nausea and heart palpations. My husband took me to the ER - they said it was due to my stomach. I went back to see my GI doc she said that my stomach didn't cause that. I went to see my doctor b/c my GI doc thought it might be my BC pill because it just started happening after taking it again after being off of it for a month. I was sure it was the BC so I immediately stopped taking it. I had yet another period. Since stopping it, now it's been 14 days, I have had one anxiety attack after another, chest pains, shortness of breath, the burning skin, headaches, and major nausea. I can't eat or sleep. I can barely function. All my blood work, adrenal gland and thyroid tests are perfectly normal. No signs of anything wrong with me. I went to see my doctor today for a follow-up, she told me bluntly that I was mental! It was all in my head ! The pill could not cause this and I need to see a physiotherapist. I have never felt so bad physically in my life and then been kicked in the teeth so hard all in one day. I know all this is due to this drug. There is no other explanation. I am not crazy but I have a lot of people who believe I am. I am amazed at how the medical community is so uneducated and have become drug pushers and have forgotten problem solving. Thank you all for reading my story. I pray every minute that I will get through this and be normal again. All I want to do is enjoy the Christmas holidays with my family without being sick. I started taking Symbicort 4 weeks ago. I'm an active person, eat well and I'm in good shape. I caught a cold a week after taking symibort. It seems that as my cold got better, I didn't feel like I could breathe any easier. Since I starte taking it, I've been real fatigued. I wake up very tired and I'm sleepy all day. I stopped taking it yesterday. I fell better today. I went back on Advair until I can see the Doctor to try another medicane.

well, this has been an enlightening forum.. glad to know im not crazy. I started taking toprol xl about 1 1/2 months ago..and it's been DOWNHILL ever since. I went to the ER one day with a rapid heart beat and overall weird feeling, they say it was either a panic attack or dehydration. anyway, the first 4 days after that i took 25mg of metroprolol, and my first side effect was tingling and pain in my leg. Then, my Dr. prescribed 50mg to keep my BP and palpiations down. Since then, i've felt bad EVERY day. Tingling in legs, arms, face and lips. Fatigue. Consitpation and Gas. Nausea. CRAZY dreams. An overall bad/weird feeling. Weird heartbeat. Though, I have to say i havent had any weight gain. I told my Dr, his first idea was i was having panic attacks, i tried zanax for about 2 weeks, didn't really help. He insists what im feeling isnt from the toprol...(must be in my head?) I had blood work and and echocardiogram-everything came back normal. I guess he's all out of ideas so his next suggestion is for me to see an neurologist who i'll be seeing this week, if that doesn't work, he suggested a psychiatrist... That's not gonna happen. If it comes down to it i'll just have to ween myself off these crazy pills.. After reading all these posts, i'm convinced it's the toprol....

i began having high blood pressure just before my second pregnancy 3 1/2 years ago. I have been on Toprol for over 2 years straight to today. I had tried several different medicines that could not control my blood pressure after he was born. Toprol XL 50 mg x 2 daily was the only one that seemed to work, but i do have the side effects. I have had several instances of panic attacks with feeling of dying. By the time i could be seen at the hospital it had already subsided. The doctors have not been able to give any indication as to the reason for these attacks other than it was a panic attack and have prescribed Zanax. I have experienced the heavy left arm with chest pain, the dizziness and nausea along with ringing in the ears. I am now changing cardiologists and will try new medications to rid of the side effects. Again, the medicine has done its purpose, but the side effects are begging to take their toll.

I took a Kenalog injection for allergies 9 years ago and swore I would never take another one. I had anxiety, depression, heart palpations, mood swings, high b/p and on and on...thought I was loosing my mind. Blood work showed I was post menapause and was put on hormones as well as anxiety meds and b/p meds. It took a few months to get somewhat back to normal. I could never get a medical professional to say the shot did it...but my "gut" said it did.

Nov. 15, 2006 I took another one, how STUPID. I had had strep throat, upper respiratory infection, seasonal asthma and was having a hard time bouncing back, before I knew it I had taken it again. It didn't seem to bother me for the first two weeks but then the blood pressure increase ( I was already taking a mild b/p pill), more anxiety than usual, rapid heart beat, mood swings, depression etc. returned. It took me a couple of days to figure out what was going on. My medical professional thought stress from the last few months was the contributing factor ( both my parents have died in the last 6 months and I had been caring for them for 2 years). I did not think that had caused the onset of all the above. I contacted my pharmacist who agreed with me that the shot was most likely the cause. Now I am stuck with all these horrible feelings until the shot wears off. I have been put on a much stronger b/p medication, which isn't working to it's full potential and I am taking zanax three times a day just to keep the anxiety at bay. Needless to say I have had them mark my medical chart..."ALLERGIC TO KENALOG". I will NEVER take another one.

I remember the blurry vision being realy bad first 3 months its settled a bit now but as SILKE said to be its worse around stress and being this your first period then thats also a factor.
Let me know the bp results, h9ow are you feeling otherwise.
The anxiety is always bad around period time i found so maybe thats a time to take perhaps something herbal eg chamomile tea or something to relax you so you are relying on a natural helper. DOnt get me wrong i totallyunderstand why you are on the paxil and zanax as im sure anyone here would i just dont want to see you go through another type of withdrawal thats all. I understand having kids and going through this is HELL i have 3 ages 10,7 and 2 so im there with you but battling it out each month now is gonna save you later i assure you....
You will get there and just like the others were there for me im here for you..........

I found this web site today and I could not stop sobbing. I have been diagnosed with 'stress' and anxiety, and was given cymbalta and zanax which made all my Yasmin symptoms that much worse. I knew I wasn't suffering from stress-the symptoms and the lack of a correct diagnosis were causing me stress.
My side effects began the first month I was on Yasmin. I called my doctor to complain of the nausea, weight loss, spotting, and general "yuck" feeling I had. I was told to keep taking it and that those symptoms were normal for the first four months. The nausea did indeed go away, so did the weight loss and spotting.
I took Yasmin for the next (nearly 3) years. I now have the full blown symptoms which crept up on me and have been misdiagnosed since November '05. My side effects include awful constant chest pain, chest pressure, chest fluttering,occasional pain in my left upper arm, pain under my jaw, occasional breathlessness, mental unclearness, hair loss, unwanted hair growth, depression, nightmares, sweats, thoughts of dying, mood swings, weight gain,bad headache during my period, and a feeling that I was going crazy!
I am both saddened and relieved to see I am not alone. After leaving a cardiologist who told me there was nothing wrong with me, I decided to look into this nagging suspicion I had about Yasmin. I had been taking Low Ogestrel (sp?) for years without incident. At my 2003 gyno visit my doctor switched me to Yasmin because "it is better". I remember thinking he must have some incentive to switch me to a new brand when I didn't have a problem with the one I was on. That first month I was on Yasmin I didn't feel well and called my gyno.. Then I just trusted and let it go, after all my initial side effects seemed to go away.
I have been to several doctors including my family doctor, the ER doctor and a cardiologist for this nightmare. I have told each one that I am taking birth control pills yet not one even asked me what kind. That bugged me and eventually led me to this site with the hope of finding my syptoms listed. I have an appointment to see my gyno. this week. He has been away since my discovery. I hope there is something to be done. I can't stand living like this. This is not me. Thank you for sharing your stories, it is the most help I have recieved so far-I am not alone and someone out there 'gets' it. I am going to show these stories to my doctor in the hope that he will inform his other Yasmin taking patients to be on the look-out for these symptoms. I do not wish for anyone to suffer as I am. i have had a stroke in apr 2005 due to a random blood clot that traveled to the right side of my brain. the nerosurgeon prescribed neuronton and vicodin as my pain and nerve stimulant after we left the hospital. I have taken Neuronton 400mg 4 times a day and Vicodin750mg 6 times a day for pain. Also Zoloft and Zanax as needed . I have been taking this dose for 8 months. I now have a clot that is unopperable. My side effects are memory loss, pain in the rear of my neck,SEVERE pain in my thighs at night when I sleep, low sex drive,I cannot stay focused,vision problems,tired and weak, left arm is very weak. I am also experiencing kidney area pain now. Blood in stool is also concerning. I'm wondering if anyone with a stroke have near same symptoms. Also has anyone heard of this medication mixture?. I feel great soon after my dose is given but feel like i'm dying one hour before my next dose.

I've been on geodon for 3 1/2 years and the worst side effect i've had is weight gain. i've gained 30 lbs. it just makes me want to eat. when i first started taking it it made me really sleepy and i started takind it the afternoon and the evening and that went away but sometimes it still makes me tired. i'm on 80 mg but was on 120 mg for a while. i want to get off meds but my doctor doesn't want me off them. she wants me to switch to abilify, the newest antipychotic. she wants me to take them both at the same time until abilify starts to work. i think it's scary to be on both drugs. i would rather not be on any for awhile. i've read too that it's hell getting off but if you taper that should work. when i went from 120 to 80 the only difference i felt was that i didn't sleep as well and it was hard to get to sleep but i increased my zanax and now usually i go to sleep alright.

I originally took Zoloft for anxiety and stress, but the drug seemed to intensify my anxiety to the point of having frequent panic attacks. I took 25mg for a week- and 50mg for two weeks. During that time I had frequent headaches, and a feeling of motion sickness / dizzy rapidly moving backwards sensation.

After the third day of taking the 25's- I passed out while getting X-rays- I was rushed to the hospital with very low blood pressure- although my blood sugar levels and AKG were both fine. After several hours I was released and told it was just a form of anxiety and my body's biological reaction to perceived fear. I continued to take Zoloft based on the doctor's in the emergency room's recommendation. I also had sleeplessness, a high frequency of dreams, and very bad teeth grinding (to the point where my jaw aches)

Exactly two weeks after taking the 50mg dose- I had a severe panic attack while driving my car- I felt as though I were going to pass out- arms went numb, I got the adrenaline shakes. I missed work because of it. My doctor's office told me to stop taking it immediately but after taking to a pharmacist- she said it will take up to two weeks to get out of my system and that panic attacks are a possible side affect. Since I stopped taking it- I am very anxious all the time and have moments of very high anxiety while driving. I wake up feeling nausea and weakness in my legs. I am now taking Zanax to counter the panic attacks until the Zoloft gets out of my system.

The most discouraging part of this whole experience is that I was seeking treatment for stress and anxiety- and now I am loving with horrible panic attacks. The drug had the completely opposite affect of it's intended use.

hello, zoloft caused a number of negative problems that even my pcp could not believe at first until i was sitting in his office and he watched my lips swell 4 times their size, welps as big as a fifty cent piece all over my body that itched beyond belief. a cough that made me vomit several times a day, indigestion non stop. he sent me straight to an allergist that said my lungs air capacity and dropped to 40 percent. they also did not believe it was the zoloft that i had been taking for several months. I stopped the zoloft and within a few days everything return to normal, i ask my doctor to put me back on zanax, which he did and was also convinced that the zoloft was not for me. my allergist billed me for 1500.00 to tell me nothing. Sometimes u had better follow your on instincts. The doctors do not know as much as u might think.

Hello,I would just like to add another side effect to this product..It's called spousal aggro!!! I am a male and my girlfriend really tends to get upset if i become tired on the count of using this product all tho i am diagnosed with stress/panic attacks/deppression..Hey what can i say..OOOOps!!! Im sorry hunny..In other words be care full when you take your meds.I always take Zanax on occasions.. sincerly;Kevin (PS. good look to you all that have this disease may god be with you.)

I felt immediate relief of depression and anxiety. I have lost weight 10 lbs in 2 weeks with a loss of appetite and sleep is fine. I am on zanax, lithium, abilify, provigal and effxor 225 mg's daily. I am a recovering alcoholic, bipolar/manic depressant. I am for the medication. Good luck to all in our same boat!

i have been on prozac for five years. it helps as far as depression goes,but my problems now are weight gain,hatefull feeling and do not care about alot of things that use to bother me.so iguess that is the best part. i do feel that it has done wanders though it soundslike it has not.i personally would not go off it .i really am better because of it.i was angry all the time,also hide inside myself and did absolutely nothing. please try it if u have some symtoms.3622 asked if any was on zanax yes it also helps tremendously.

I have taken Levaquin many times for sinus infections and the more I take it the worse the side effects are. I can not sleep and have anxiety. I have a MVP so this does happen to me sometimes but, it is well under control....so, I know when I take Levaquin it is from taking it.....This time I can not take it. I have to be on it for 3 wks---I will never last. Last night I had to take a zanax to get to sleep. I have a very bad sinus infection. It has recurred 3 times since Feburary. I will be calling my MD today for sure..........

I am a 62 year old male I have been in excelent health all my life. Ive been on zocor for 3yrs and complaining to to my cardioligist for two years about leg pain and cramps.Ive been off zorcor for 6wks with little or no improvement, I have severe leg pain and spazims my arms are numb my face is twiching my chest is giving me similar symtoms which scares the hell out of me. Ive had to take zanax anti depressant meds. How long will it take to go away? After reading about all the other people with the same symtoms, it's deplorable that the doctors are still handing this stuff out to paitienst. HELP! HOW LONG TO GET RID OF THE PAIN. LETS GET TOGETHER AND SUE. JERRY
