I am 28, and have endometriosis. I have been on zovia for 5-6 months and I love it! My doctor told me if you have endo you need to be on a higher-dose bc, plus it's boosts your sex-drive. yippi. But also I took the advice of my doctor, and decided not to have a period for awhile, and I can't believe how all my endo craptastic symptoms completely disappeared. My doctor told me that when you have endometriosis it is better to not have a period, maybe only once or twice a year, because when you do have a period is when everything on the inside gets aggravated and crazy. If you keep everything calm, by not having a period, your symptoms go away.

I'm so happy I decided to take this because it has changed my life! no more heavy periods and laying on the floor crying with pain cramps every month! I really recommend talking to a doctor about the higher dose bc pills. and if you feel your doctor isn't listening to you or taking you seriously, try a different doctor!

Zovia 1/35 is GREAT!!!

I have been on the nuvaring since May of 08 to relieve my endometriosis. At first I loved it; less cramping, lighter periods, but then around November I started feeling stressed. Lots of anxiety during the first few days of every cycle to the point it was like I was paranoid. I'm not one to worry about what to do if my husband dies but with the Ring I was getting these feelings. I thought it was stress of work messing with me, maybe some winter blues. When I finally got around to seeing my Dr. he said it could be the ring and I needed to get off of it. He's putting me on the pill and I look forward to seeing if things change.

I have been on zovia for about a month and a half. I was on loestrin 24 for about 2 months, and had really bad side effects. Seems like its the same with zovia. They tell you wait 2 months, but dang, it sucks I started taking it at night so that i can sleep through the dizziness, vomiting, headaches, and everything else i was feeling. Even bought a pregnancy test bec of the side effects. I now have noticed a change in me appetite! It seems like no matter how much i ate, im still hungry! i work out everyday, and even started working out twice a day just to keep the weight off. Not working! Im very active, and hate looking like i haven't stepped foot into the gym. Sucks. Im going to look into hydroxycut just to balance it out (appetite) going to get off of this crap as soon as I can, but want to wait until we are ready for kids. But im soo ready to get off this crap now! not much more I can take for my endometriosis. :(

Wow you are all a bunch of complainers who try and blame XYZ on Yasmin which probably have ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with the pills. I have bee diagnosed with PCOS and have been on hormone therapy since age 15, first zovia, which worked well enough but did not get rid of a lot of my symptoms, only lessened them somewhat, so now I am on yaz. My depression has completely subsided, I feel GREAT and only had some nausea which almost EVERYONE gets when taking a hormone therapy birth control pill. Trust me, if you are going to have SIDE EFFECTS it is not going to happen 4 YEARS LATER, please.... grow up and take responsibility for yourselves, rather than trying to blame a pill

I always been a little sensitive to the pill. I've been on a few in the past, but I hadn't found the right one for me. I've been on Zovia for 3 years. At first, it always made me queezy the first day or two of the pack almost every month. Not that big of a deal. Then, gradually I noticed that I was PMSing at least 1.5 weeks before my period every single month like clockwork. When I say PMSing, I mean, extremely tender boobs, bloating like nobody's business, mood swings like a maniac, depression. Half the month, for years. I cannot believe I stayed on it that long. I just came to accept that I may have PMDD, not really thinking that it could very well be that stinking' Zovia. Is the perfect pill out there for me?

I just started taking Yasmin about a month and a half ago.. I switched to Yasmin because I had just gotten off Ortho Tri-Lo (which was completely AWFUL.) I've had a few negatives about Yas so far -- I didn't start my period until a WEEK after I was suppose to, and when I did it was just spotting for a couple of days. Not that I am complaining that it only lasted two days (love that part), but it didn't start when it was suppose to. I am starting to feel like I have no energy and I am tired all the time -- I haven't wanted to even so much as wash clothes the past couple of weeks. I also have noticed uncomfortable cramping (no where near my period). Its very frustrating because I want to be on the pill and I hate switching so much, but I just want to feel normal!

hi guys,

finding your posts so helpful.
i've been on yasmin for nearly 5 years and its only just dawned on me recently that my:
-anxiety/mood swings/erratic behaviour
-body hair growth
-weight gain
-increase in discharge etcetc
could actually be from the pill!!

i was always so bubbly and strong but i seem to cry now at silly things and i just don't feel myself. i initially went on the pill when i was 17 because my periods were so bad but i'm not sure what to do now... change pill or come off pills altogether?!

i'd love some feedback if any of you have been in a similar position, thanks so much

xxx

Post your symptoms since stopping Yasmin!!!

Hey everyone it's Kay21 here and I just wanted to post my 3 month off Yasmin update. Because stopping the pill is a hard decision, I figured we should all post are updates here to help/support those who are planning to stop or who have recently stopped Yasmin.

I have been off of Yasmin since April 17. As some of you already know, I was experiencing horrible side effects while on Yasmin for 3 years (particularly stomach problems, vaginal dryness, muscle cramps, increased blood pressure and heart rate and anxiety).

The first 1 month off of Yasmin was okay. In fact, I felt the best I had ever felt in a while. My blood pressure and heart rate decreased and the migraines and muscle cramps went away. But when I hit the 2 month (8 week) mark, I felt HORRIBLE. I was severely depressed and anxious. I was crying all the time and felt a severe sense of DOOM! The physical symptoms also started to become problematic. The acne increased and I started growing more facial hair. The worse symptom, however, was that I started losing a ton of hair. I would lose stray hairs all day (probably about 200 a day). Since I have hit the three month mark, the hair loss has gotten MUCH WORSE! Now I am losing CLUMPS of hair all day. I have seen several doctors about this. Some say it's because of stress and a few (a derm, GYN and endo) say that hiar loss is common after stopping bcp. I have already loss about 1/3 of my hair.

I am also really concerned, because I have not had a period since April 22. So my doctor has put me on provera for 10 days to induce a period.

For those who have stopped Yasmin, what have your symptoms been (i.e. increased acne, weight gain, anxiety, etc.). Has anyone experienced hair loss? How long did it take to get a period???

Thanks...

Hey ladies,
When I was prescribed Yasmin a couple of months ago, I found this website and was more than a little hesitant to start taking it. However, bearing in mind that everyone has different reactions to different pills, I started last month despite all of the crazy side-effects I read here.
I have been taking birth control for about 4 years to regulate my period. I started with Zovia when I was 15 and gained about 20 pounds within the first few months.
I then started taking Levora, which literally made me insane. I was crying all the time and had anxiety attacks to the point where I couldn't eat or sleep. I had increased blood pressure, and I was driving everyone around me crazy.
I switched to Trivora, and it was more of the same.
I have been on Yasmin for over a month now and I love it. I have not gained any weight, and the anxiety and depression I was experiencing with Levora and Trivora are completely non-existent. I feel like I have absolutely no side-effects whatsoever.
After reading this website, I took into consideration all of the side-effects many people were experiencing, and I waited a month before starting Yasmin. I took this time to monitor my moods, appetite, emotions, sex drive, weight, etc to know how I felt being off birth control before starting a new one. I feel that, if anyone else is having doubts about whether or not you should start using a new birth control pill, it's important to first understand your body and emotions so that you can pinpoint and monitor your changes if and when they occur.
Good luck everyone,
Marie

I started birth control last July and since then I have been on three different kinds of pills. I first was on Zovia. While on Zovia I would get my period every other week, and this went on for six months. Second I was on Karvia, and it made me depressed and increased the cramps to the point where I couldn't walk. My Dr. then switched me over to Ovcon 35 and I am just ending my second pack. I have had nothing but trouble with this Pill.

I have had: sudden horrible headaches, a change of appetite, lack of energy, depression, bloating, stomach cramps, constipation, dizziness, loss of appitite- to the point where i couldnt tell if i was hungry or full, missed period, nausea, and I have gained weight.

It got so bad that I freaked out thinking that I was possibly pregnant and I took a test only for it to be negative. (Thank God). Hopefully switching to Yasmin will be better for me.
