My son went to the Dr. with strep like symptoms. The Dr. did not take a strep test .. They just put him on a Z-pac.. The first day he threw one of them up.. I called the Dr. He said just keep taking it.. The sickness got worse.. I finally took him to the ER here in our home town.. Seems his Sore Throat went septic.. He ended up with Lemierre's Syndrome A loong month later after being in the Hospital he died.. We are all intitled to our opion.. Mine is.. The Z-pac is something that replace the cillin family.. Well guess what I found out ... if he would of gotten one of the cillin family he would be alive today.. My son was 17.. And we're finding out the dreaded FORGOTTEN DISEASE.. we've already lost a handful of teenagers & still some trying to live a normal life after this horrible disease.. they changed meds for strep.. In my opion the people that make it are responsible for his death.. He needed the old cillin family.. they gave him the right meds in the Hospital but it was to late.. He never knew what hit him.. Please ck out our web site if you love your children and say no to Z-PAC.. Here's the web sight.. ******. or you can ck us out at.. *******. Or you can contact me at ****** I'm not afraid of you ZPAC freaks.. The mother of a angel... R.I.P. Justin Rodgers.. We will love you forever.. Isn't that weird.. A pill that cost .82 cents would of safe my son.. Thanks for reading.. Please pass this on to others..

I have had bronchitis for 3 weeks. I first was prescribed a 5-day Z-pack, which didn't do the trick. Went back to the clinic doctor, as I don't have insurance, and I switched to Levaquim, 500mg/day, once a day, for 7 days. Its now 5 days in and I'm still sick. I don't cough a lot because of the Hydromet cough syrup, but I can tell I'm still sick.

Side effects have been insomnia mainly, and a sporadic inability to concentrate. I have not been nauseas at all, nor have I had any of the joint or other pain reported by other people. I can't even be sure the side effects I have had are from the Levaquin, as opposed to the cough syrup.

I went to dentist to extract a tooth instead he gave pain meds and zpac to reduce the inflammation and referred me to an oral surgeon. First time I took it (which two tabs) I was sick to my stomach, nauseous with vomiting. I'm on day 4 now. I'm scared to death to take it on an empty stomach since I cant hold any food down, plus I need pain meds after i had my extraction which is super strong. Now I have a never ending battle. Cant wait for my mouth to heal so I can have a normal life again.

well my hubby started taking this a week in half before christmas 06 for MRSA (STAPH). the week before christmas he had a high fever, shaking so hard it would make him crazy, diahrea, out of it , could not stay awake, he said he felt as if he was in a fog. i took him to the doc 4 days later they said they dont know what is wrong with him after some test and put him on ZPAC and told him to lay off the sulfameth till the ZPAC was done. so he was better after 3 days on the ZPAC and he did not start the sulfameth back up for 9 days and the first day he took it he could not walk his knees hurt so bad and fever, stiff neck, diahrea again i called the doc they said it might be the flu , called walgreens they said no way it could be the sulfameth. so we are going to the ER if not any better and he will not be taking this drug again. i do beleave that doc dont know every thing and some time you must trust your instints.

I was diagnosed with Influenza B and have been taking a coctail of Tamiful, Zpac, Mucinex, Claritin D, and Tynolel. Fevor broke after first dose, next day I felt good but on the 3 and 4th days I was experiencing a "high" like that of being on marijuana or alcohol. Not really a bad thing because I was not working or going to school, but still, a side effect.

I took azithromycin (zpac) about a month and a half ago for a severe chest cough & nasal congestion and my ears partially closed during this illness and the ringing started a few days after I was better, Unfortunately my ears are still ringing today. It is driving me nuts.... Let me know if anyone finds any answers. BTW my gen med doctor cannot see anything wrong with my ears. The ringing is faint until Im in a silent room then its booming.
Thanks George (MrRochie)

I was diagnosed with bronchitis on 3-10-03. Prescribed a Zpac and phenergan/codeine syrup. 3-18-03 no better. Was prescribed Levaquin 500mg along with the syrup. Had taken levaquin before, only problem recalled was a dull constant headache. This time is different, however. On the 3rd day of taking the levaquin, I developed a sore (blister?) on the tip of my tongue. Thought it might be from eating an orange a day through this for the vitamin C. The 4th day I had 2 more places come up on the inside of my bottom lip and gum. Today would have been the 5th pill. I got up this morning to find my tongue, gums, and the inside of my mouth had 10 or so more sores. I called my doctor. I told him of this and of eating an orange a day. He told me to stop the levaquin and to come in on Monday. My question is this: If I had it before and didn't experince this, is it the levaquin? I eat oranges and never experienced this either. Also, I am constipated, my guess is from the phenergan/codeine syrup.
