I am 48 years old and have been on 10mg of Lipitor for over a year. I have had bloating, constipation and occasional muscle cramps. I can't say for sure that this was all caused by Lipitor, but after reading so many posts here, it got me thinking about it. Recently I began experiencing bleeding gums, which I've never had before. Has anyone else had problems with their gums since they began Lipitor? I plan to stop taking it and begin exercising more regularly. Also I'm getting off red meat and eating more fish and chicken and fresh veggies. Perhaps my cholestoral will lower without the aid of drugs. Any thoughts? Rob

I am not a pharmacist but i am a technician and know someone who had similar complaints from Lipitor causing her muscles to ache and stiffen. She was told to stop the drug for a week then resume. She resumed and her whole boldy went numb and she slipped into a coma and passed away. She was having an allergic reaction and her doctor ignored and and had her resume. So be careful or discontinue with proper diet.

Hi Rob,
I'm Theresa. My boyfriend takes Lipitor and has serious problems with thinking, reasoning, understanding, communicating, and has lost considerable weight. He was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes a few years after taking the Lipitor. He's taking garlic oil supplements in softgel form -- 1,000mg after dinner. His doctor remarked how his cholesterol levels and triglycerides looked better than ever before. After reading all the posts, I'm convinced he can lower his cholesterol (garlic is good for cholesterol levels, blood pressure, lungs, heart, boosts immune system, and is a natural antibiotic (the strongest of the natural ones).
He also takes 1,000mg of fish oil -- specifically formulated to remove mercury, PCBs, and dioxins. That was one of my basic points in replying to you. I can imagine that some of his debilitations are due to mercury toxicity -- but, certainly not all. Lipitor is to blame as well. I hope I've been of some help. If you'd like some of the info I've collected, please let me know. My email address is: LdyBabblon@aol.com Peace to ya.

I guess it would be helpful to tell you that my boyfriend is 53 and has been taking 10mg of Lipitor since his major heart attack in 1995. I met him in 2000 and have watched the symptoms take over. Keep in touch and I'll do what I can to find whatever info you need. = )
