I started taking maxide toward the end of July 2005. In early September, I developed a rash that itched so bad I thought I would go out of my mind. It started on the backs of my upper legs and progressed to my ears, face, and neck. I took prednisone to take care of the rash with the doctor and me thinking it had to be poison ivy. Two days after stopping the small dosage of prednisone, the itching was back in full force. I have since stopped taking maxide.

I have been taking maxide for about 15 or more years. I have had severe cramping, getting worse over the years. Both big toes are numb. But, when the rashes started, and the 2nd one is far worse, I feel like I cannot tolerate it anymore. The first one was right leg, and of course they said it was poison oak. Well, I walk a trail now and then, for 4 yrs and no rash. Then a month later, rash on right leg, and before I knew it, all over body, and took prednisone, didn't work, got stronger pred, it almost worked, but when got to one a day, it came back with vengence. Well, today my doctor was out with pneumonia, my good luck, went to another one, and she took me off Maxide. Tomorrow is my first day off the drug. If this has caused me years of trouble, and no one caught it, I don't know what I will do. Dr. after Dr. and no help. Come here and see all my symptoms. Thank you all for posting, and I will update, I promise, in a week, or as soon as this rash goes away. Totally covered hair to toes. Want to get a filet knife and skin myself!!!

I think we are all being used a guinni pigs, to test these new drugs. I really, truely believe this. Beward, these new drugs are not tested today as they were 30 yrs ago. If all my troubles clear up after this, I will know for sure, and no one, NO ONE, till today, mentioned the Maxide, I am taking the generic Maxide.
Good luck to all of us!
