I have been on Methadone for approx. six months for a second time and i have been getting extremely clammy and i sweat and have heat attacks so severe, i'm so afraid of this summer, afraid i might have a heat stroke. It seems my body cannot control my heating system. Someone suggested i might be starting menopause, but i do not have sweating spells unless i'm moving around or even standing ,or if it's hot, not like hot flashes in the middle of the night for no apparent reason. Also i have always had the best blood pressure, now i have high blood pressure since using methasone for pain control and i have to take Toprol. Doctors think it's just a coincidence but i know it's the meth and i am slowly weaning off. I just hope my body can return to normal. Has anyone had these same problems.

I have been taking methadone for almost five months now. When I first started taking it, I was clammy and sweating all throughout the day. That lasted for the first couple weeks, then it just stopped. My doctor said it was a side effect from the methadone and once my body got use to taking it on a regular everyday basis that it would subside, and it did. The only side effect I have now is that Im tired around the same time everyday. That's been a constant side effect I've had since I've started taking the methadone. You being on methadone for six months and still feeling clammy and having the sweats, I think is because of the fact that you said your being detoxed. Maybe your intake of methadone, while being detoxed, is being taken away in amounts (milligrams) that are to much. Talk with your doctor about detoxing you a little at a time. I think this is why your feeling this way. If you have any more questions or concerns, call the Roanoke Treatment Center. They have nurses there that will anwser any questions or concerns you have. The number is (540) 366-5248. Good Luck.
