I have recently been prescribed neurontin for chronic pain as well as an aid in decreasing pain caused by a bad fall one year ago. I suffer from degenerative disc disorder too. My injuries from the fall consist of torn ACL in right leg which can't be operated on until my torn rotator cuff surgery problems are solved and I am strong enough to support crutches. My right shoulder was damaged very badly causing my rotator cuff to be nearly torn in half. My surgery apparently didn't take care of a lot of the pain and they think neurontin, together with morphine sulfate, and tizanidine for muscle aches will be the best treatment for now. I have my blood checked every three months for any adverse issues with the meds I'm currently taking. Thus far, after several months using neurontin, I have not experienced any noticeable changes such as any side affects. I have been taking 300mg. 3 x each day and the arthritis specialist I also see, has increased the dose to 600mg. 3x daily. This seemed a drastic increase and he assured me that it was a modest dose and some patients even take 1200mg. 3x daily. Since I have a multitude of health problems and desire to continue a very active lifestyle, I keep a close watch on my meds and research anything I may feel uncomfortable with such as articles on side effects other people may have incurred. Thavk you for sharing,Trish
