I was taking Lamictal (600 mg) for 8 years and had 2 minor seizures per week. I was able to read, write, good memory, think and talk properly. My doctor added Depakote(750 mg/day) to control seizures. My seizures almost stopped in 4 weeks. However my body started shaking all day so much that I am unable to write and eat food properly. I like to know if shaking of my body is the side effect of Lamictal with Depakote..

I am having the shakes as well. I am switching from Depakote to Lamictal. I'm currently at 500mg Depakote 2x day and 25 mg Lamictal 3x day (soon to move up to 4x day). I cannot wait to stop taking the Depakote. It has made me gain 20 lbs and doing math has become incredibly frustrating. There is no way I'm taking the GRE until this stuff is out of system. I got a CT recently and the tech told me to calm down b/c I was shaking so badly I was making the whole thing vibrate. I was already calm, so I couldn't control it. I'm also having tremors when I attempt something that requires fine motor skills. Top that off with the nystagmus, and I'm pretty scared. I'd love to drop off the Depakote faster than my Dr. wants me to, if only I'd know that it wouldn't cause me to have a seizure. Lamictal gave me no negative side effects when I was on it before; I can't wait to get back to normal.
