I have a condition called Myositis and for the past two years the specialists put me on Prednisone, my condition of myositis is an Autoimmune problem that degenerates the muscles and causes artherites throughout the joints in the body. I am 58 years of age and survive the chronic pain by taking 5 Mg of prednisone each day along with different types of anti inflaminetery pain killers. Some days are good and other days require a wheel chair to get around but the side effects of this have caused Cateracts in both eyes, fatty liver tissues and other side effects like mood swings and so on.....

I, too, have just recently been diagnosed with myositis due to crestor. I have been on 20 mg of prednisone for at least 2 weeks. I have gained a few pounds. I find I stay busy with housework. Exposure to the sun has caused skin problems. My muscle enzyme levels have not reduced much in two weeks; cpk went from 590 to 470. Rheumy will not reduce my preds. I see him in a few days and suspect he will add more meds. Preds have helped the pain some and i am not as week but i have bad days where a pain killer like darvacet is needed. I also have crohn's and the preds have affected my gi tract. Have docs given you any idea of how long one with myositis has to stay on these drugs? all this is new to me. I also have coronary artery disease.
