I'm 24 year old female, and I've been using Advair for about 3 weeks now, and have used it for a month at a time previously in the past. I remember that it always seems to help at first, give me more energy, and making my running better (I was a competitive runner in college and developed asthma as an adult), but after about a two week period, the medication actually seems to stop helping, and instead I start getting chest tightness, severe acid reflux, naseau, headaches and muscle fatigue. I've also had incredible sleeplessness, excitability and restlessness, and rather significant weight loss, which at first I attributed to running more (and I'm sure its a combination), but I think the restlessness is to blame for a lot of it. Additionally, despite rinsing, my voice is hoarse, my mouth always tastes bad, and I have to swallow or drink liquids all the time. My ezxema has gotten much worse, and I've developed acne on the sides of my face, which hasn't happened in years. I thought maybe I was losing my mind, but this site has made my fears seem quite reasonable.

I was recently diagnosed with COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) and told during urgent medical treatment in hospital (was it Pnemonia?? Blood Clot on the lung?? Lungs like a 70 year old is what I was told by the doc from the X-ray). Told I'd be on oxygen in a couple years (smoking cigarettes)... but its more than this. Lack of exercise, and by goodness, your home will do it to you... dust and mold... and I know there was water damage to the house. Anyway... docs were baffled why and something very similar happened back in 1997 -- hospitalized for Pnemonia, 1. A virus that circulated 2. Heavy Smoking 3. Mold in house 4. Probably some lack of exercise and 5. Eating oysters which I am allergic to, baffled docs "why should a woman around late 20's be so sick?" All their technology couldn't figure it out, and I was so happy to get the heck out of the hospital -- felt like I wasn't being listened to at all.
They gave me Advair recently, and I didn't want to take it at first, doc told me ',but it'll help open up your lungs' -- and suddenly sides of my face covered in Acne (never had this problem -- it's awful) and began questioning if it had to do with a recent medication. Never been allergic to meds either... that's what lead me to this page.
Some saying Advair can lead to pressure in your eyes?? and cataracts?? Scary, because my eyes began getting really bad about the same time beginning Advair, right after the Optomotrist warned me my eyes had such a thin drainage passage, which could lead to glaucoma, she even refused to do a pressure test out of fear it could onset glaucoma, and here I was prescribed Advair, which could.
Advair is bad. Thank goodness for the Acne, because otherwise, I'd probably never questioned what it was doing to my body.
