I was on depakote for 20yrs.Epilepsy.The only reason they took me off was because i became pregnant.I believe that the prolonged use of this drug can cause damaging mental and emotional problems.Since they took me off the drug bouts of seviere anxiety and depression.Not to mention the constant headaches and body pains.I am not a doctor but this is a drug ment for psychotics,not epileptics.I strongly suggest you get another opinion.Iwish they would have never put me it.Most of my chidhood memory is gone,and I still have problems today with severe memory loss.Please read up on this drug as much as possible before you settle.
