I was initially placed on Aceon for HBP but was switched to Linisopril by my drug provider in late July. Within several weeks I developed a cough that by mid-August had developed to violent, unpredictable and overpowering coughing spells that would last for three to five minutes. These spells were accompanied by watering eyes and a runny nose. When I mentioned the problem to my doctor, he immediately speculated that it was a Linisopril reaction. Further research suggested that this was probably the case and that from the time I stopped taking it it would be from 2 to 4 weeks before the symptoms went away. As I write this, I have been off for 16 days and the symptoms have not abated. Within the last week, I have had to sleep in a chair to avoid continual coughing. In reading these postings, I was amazed at the wide variety of side effects and their severity. It appears that Linisopril is the ultimate "Weapon of Mass Destruction"
