Yes, I too had vaginal bleeding approx 2 weeks after a cortizone (Kenalog) shot in my hip. This is the second occurance of it. The first time (last year in Fall) I had the same shot, couple weeks later had some bleeding. Went to my doctor and she did an Endometrial test which came back ok. She was so certain this could NOT be from the cortizone. Said really no relation to our hormones. I thought it was too coincidental though. I've been in menapause for approx 5 years. No other time have I had any bleeding. When I had the injection again this month, I asked the radiologist his opinion and he said he has never heard of that happening; didn't think it was a link. I told him I'd be the test. And, whala....started spotting yesterday.
It took me 3 months to get back to normal. 3 months after not having the shots anymore, by the way. And my doctor, unlike yours, directly related the spotting to the cortizone injections. I am convinced they are related, because I've never had any trouble since. Not before, and not since. Only during the shots. Doc said it would take "a couple" of months before the cortizone would make its way out of my body. Turns out it was three. When done, the periods were back to normal. So, personally I think they ARE related. Just my experience.
I have been in menopause for the last 2 and a half years without problems. Even the hot flashes have stopped. I recently had several cortizone shots in my foot in a span of approx. 10 weeks. Almost a week after the last shot I began spotting (and have been continuing to do so for the past 6 days). I freaked out and called my OB/GYN who has me scheduled for an endometiral biopsy. I was also questioned about all of the "injections" of cortizone I have had recently.....hum.....
I called my orthopedic doctor to ask about the cortizone shots (did not know to ask him for the name of the injection - I was just told that it was "cortizone") and was told that the cortizone should have resolved in about a week, so any problems I am having are not related to the injections and that I should seek an evaluation from my OB/GYN.
If my endometrial biopsy comes back normal, then I will be convinced that the cortizone shots were the culprit and I will never have those again.
