I was on Lisinopril for 1 1/2 years (20 mg), and I seemed to have retention of water with other urinary problems, such as darker color, etc. My doctor said that this is not the case, but a friend who is a good doctor in Mexico said that urinary problems were a complication. This was without my saying anything along that line. I cannot say that all my problems came from Lisinopril, but I was getting sick at every turn: I had coldness in my legs and feet; my heart just gave me fits as it palpitated or whatever out of order; other symptoms! My doctor did concede and take me off the L because of the congestion/cough problem I had developed. It was not extreme, but I had never had that before. I now take enelypryl morning and night. I was on that before the L and did not have side effects. I feel so different now after just 10 days or so.

I have been on lisinopril (20mg) for about three weeks. I started having urinary retention the after I started taking it. It got so bad that I am now wearing a leg bag and can no longer urinate on my own. I have been to the ER two times and to a urologist all who say that it wouldn't be the medication that is causing this. I have never had any problems other then recently having high blood pressure and now after reading about this drug and the comments on this web page about this drug on this website, I am convineced. I called my doctor earlier today trying to convince him that these symptoms where definately caused by this and to please change me to hyzaar (50) (this is what my mother takes and has no problems at all). although he doesn't think this is my problem, he agreed to change my meds. Now, after getting my cathedor (don't know how to spell that word) out today, I have to go back.

At lease now, I am pretty sure that I have some answers. I have had a CT scan and been to three doctors including the urologist and I'll tell you as you may know, it is so terrifying to not know what is going on. I thought that I was going to have to have a hysterectomy or some kind of surgery. thank you for your comments and bless you.
