I have just read all of your comments on the Yasmin birth control pill and would like to state a few of mine. I have been on Yasmin for about 2 1/2 years, the first side affect that I experienced is my heart rate felt out of control at times during the first 3 months or so that I started taking it that went away thank god! I also lost about 5 pounds instintly, can't complain there. The only side affect that I am a little conserned about is my horrible mood swings and depression about 4 days before I start my period. I will take a small problem amd make it into a huge deal and I feel like crying my eyes out. Unfortunatly the one that I take this out on is my husband poor guy! Do any of you girls feel your mood swings and depression only during certain times of the month? I am honestly starting to wonder if I should change.

I have been taking Yaz for the past 6 months. I am 32 years old and started taking Yaz to regulate my mood swings that occured before my period. I have taken other birth control pills in the past to prevent pregnancy and have had side effects from them all. Well I hate to say it, but Yaz has not worked either. 3-4 days before my period I am horrible. I just feel like I want to choke someone and I take this out on my poor husband and children. The rest of the time I am fine. My husband and I have been seeing a marriage counselor for the past few months and she is the one who told me about all of the anxiety and depression side effects that she had seen in other clients who were also taking YAZ. I am going to stop taking my pill today. Besides the mood swings I have also had EXTREME breast tenderness and leg pain. I can sit for a few minutes and my legs just go numb. My hands and feet also are swelling . No more bc pills for me EVER! I am going to ask my doctor for some Zoloft or Welbutrin. Maybe the side effects of these drugs will not be as bad and will help with the anxiety and mood swings that occur before my period.
