I am very happy to report that 7 days after stopping this medication I was almost completely back to normal. Blood tests proved that I suffered a flare of severe and debillitating rheumatoid arthritis. My doctor said, "We don't know whether the arthritis was caused by a reaction to the Omeprazole or was caused by an adverse reaction to the things the Omeprazole was doing in your body, but the condition is directly relatable to the Omeprazole." As a result, my medical history should now always include "intolerance to PPIs". (I said allergy, he said intolerance is more accurate - I didn't actually have an *allergic* reaction, I just had an unexpected reaction we don't ever want to repeat.)
