Can this drug cause a rash on my shin?...

I don't know if its the Adderall, but I have a rash on my right shin that won't go away no matter what is tried. Even a prednazone injection didn't stop it. My dermatologist wants me to try going off the Adderall, but I'm scared to death that I'll lose my job.

I was placed on Adderall XR for fatigue caused by Lamictal and Valium. I could not focus, concentrate, or even take out the garbage. I could barely function.

However, after being on Adderall for two months, I began to develop itching about two weeks ago. It was light itching, no rash, a sense of discomfort of being in my skin. Then I began to wake myself up scratching at small areas with rashes. I bought hydrocortisone and also began moisturizing like crazy and changed soaps and began drinking tons of water, bought a humidifier, and started to take Zyrtec. My doctor wanted to be sure it was not due to my highly sensitive and extremely dry skin.

However, AFTER I did all of those things, I woke up last night with the worst rash yet, and the size has increased to 6"x8" in two areas (the upper thighs), plus also light redness of the skin on my torso and shoulders.

I'm extremely worried now that I could be having a TEN or SJS allergic rash reaction. The positive effects of the Adderall have been fantastic, giving me energy and focus and the ability to socialize and complete tasks that I started. But now, given this rash, I'm scared and thinking of stopping taking Adderall entirely. The side effects seem to be outweighing the good effects.

I am on 20 mg morning and and then 20 mg at 1 pm. Because I crash in the late afternoon like most other people, my doctor gave me 10 mg tablets to take at 4:30 or at latest 5 pm if I have to attend an evening class or go to a major business related social event, etc., something that requires energy and focus instead of a nap and drowsiness. I have not yet taken those evening pills because the prescription is dated 12/28/08 and today it's 12/21/08.

Has anyone else experienced these rashes? Any advice? Anything else I should emphasize to my doctor? I'd really appreciate it.
