After living with asthma and relying on a rescue inhaler for 28 years, I was prescribed advair 500/50 and it has changed my life. I have not used my rescue inhaler since. It is like a miracle cure. I know its not a cure but it really works great. Do you know what it feels like to leave the house without panicking because I couldn't find my rescue inhaler?

I know exactly how that feels. The anxiety of knowing that your rescue inhaler isn't near is almost enough sometimes to throw you into a severe asthma attack! This drug really is a miracle for me too but I as well have noticed weight gain, headaches, sore throat and hoarsness but also this strange and lingering hip thing! I cannot believe that so many people are also experiencing this on Advair. I'm terrified of it as I had never had the glimmer of a thought that this pain could be attributed to the medication. I want to stay on it because I can now jog, laugh without having an attack, walk my dog without my purse (with my rescue inhaler in it) climb, hike, etc. I can't decide if it's worth having to buy all new clothes due to the weight gain, take ibuprofen every morning for my hip pain or chew gum all day to alleviate my dry mouth. Is there an alternative? Has anyone tried accupuncture?
