Hyper, anxious, weight gain, high blood pressure: I started taking Singulair in January after having some kind of allergy reaction to either the cats or something else. My GP suggested that I take it every day -but I'm quitting today. I have been so hyper the last three weeks and feeling -not well. It's like I'm off filled with dread and anxiety. Last week I ended up in the hospital with heart attack symptoms and with incredible anxiety, hyperness and high blood pressure! I never had any of these symptoms before then. I am healty cook and eater, a non-smoker, and was within 25 pounds of my normal weight for a 56 year old. Yes, it's gotta be the Singulair. It's the only medication that's changed. J. Haggerty

Did going off the Singulair make the difference?

I have had borderline high blood pressure for the past couple of years, and my doctor has been keeping an eye on it. Back at the beginning of October this year, I had a really bad sinus infection (I have chronic problems with my sinuses). He decided to put me on an antibiotic and Singulair. I finished the antibiotic, finally got over the sinus infection and continued to take the Singulair. In November I began having severe headaches and more migraines than what I normally suffer. I went to the doctor. My blood pressure was a lot higher than it had been. I had it checked again Jan. 4 and it was even higher. I told him the only thing I could think of that was causing this was the Singulair. Even though he said he had never seen Singulair do this to anyone before, he told me to stop taking it. I believe it has been the reason my blood pressure was climbing so high.
