Lisinopril Placebo group, placebo effect, high blood pressure, good medicine, vitamin supplement

How come then, I have had this persistent cough and found out just recently that cough is a side effect of this drug? Did I imagine the cough in anticipation of reading that it is a side effect? And what is up with assuming all people with HBP are fat? I'm not. It is a hereditary issue.

Everyone on this drug does not have problems with high blood pressure, cholesterol issues or cheeseburger affinities. I am one of them. When I had a heart attack, my non-fasting cholesterol was 154 and my triglycerides were 74. No, I didn't have high blood pressure either. How's yours Mr. Discipline? They gave me this drug to be sure that my heart did not have any undue burden while the stent was healing over. Have a nice day.

You're arrogance and ignorance do you no credit. I experienced these side effects long before I ever found this forum. In fact, it was frighteningly declining health that promted me to look up side effects of the meds I take. Previous to finding this forum (and others on the net) I had no preconcieved notions that Lisinopril was the cause of any of the symmptoms that I have been experiencing over the past year.
I agree that the placebo effect is powerful and the human mind can "convince itself" of many things that may or not be true, but in this case, the symptoms mentioned by others are too similar between people to be mere mind tricks. It also seems that most people here expereinced symptoms before coming to this forum looking for more information. It may be true that the majority of people on this med have few if any side effects, but that is no reason to ignore the percentage who's lives have been severely impacted both physically and mentally.
The type of arrogance and flippant disregard of human compassion that many of us have been battling with our doctors, insurance providers and pharmacists makes me almost as ill as the drug. Perhaps you might spend a few nights grasping at your throbbing chest, feeling as though you're no longer human and having all your medical providers tell you you're "just fine" before you tell me or any other person posting on this forum to just "get over it."

Really,,,so we are all imagining our side effects from this med!!! Well, let me tell you something- about three months ago I was scheduled to have routine blood chemistry draw at the lab. My doctor received the results and called me because my potassium had shot up. She said, "I believe it is the Lisinopril." I said, "oh, not possible, I have taken this stuff for years...." We waited a few days and the potassium went down a little - then a few weeks after that we did another draw and this time, the calcium as well as the potassium was elevated to the point that she stopped the Lisinopril. Now, during this time, I kept telling her that I was extremely tired, I had anxiety that was blooming into panic attacks and my heart was pounding making me feel like I had run a marathon. All this BEFORE I even thought of going on the web and finding out about Lisinopril side effects. I have been off the Lisinopril for four weeks and the symptoms are subsiding a little at a time.

So please do not sit in judgment of those of us who have had severe problems with Lisinopril. The first time my potassium shot up, I never suspected the Lisinopril - good thing I have a great doctor. How dare you tell us we are all dreaming up our side effects. If I am not physically able to even sweep my kitchen floor because of the fatigue caused by a drug, it CERTAINLY IS NOT MY IMAGINATION. SHAME ON YOU!!!!

And P.S. My doctor and I are working on keeping me off bp meds by exercise, good food, and very low sodium. For your further information, bp is the family curse I have inherited. Have a nice day!!!

I stopped taking Lisinop about 2 months ago and my cough is now so bad that I usually end up throwing up before I can stop. I searched the web for a cause of the problem and found this site... I KNOW I'm not a hypochdriac and I am surprised you can even spell it because you are obviously a mongloid.

1. Do your homework about hypertension and its causes. You are criminally ignorant on the subject.
2. Many thousands of exercising, thin people have hypertension. Myself amongst them, and I'm experiencing many of the side-effects of lisinopril detailed in this post.
3. You, lucky sir, will never develop any sort of heart disease, as first you need a HEART.
4. And learn to spell, asshole.

For what other reason would someone as remarkably healthy as you must be spend their time surfing this site with all of us 'sick folks'?
There are many people who have genetically high BP, a fact I am sure the drug companies are very happy about. I was very glad when my doctor put me on this medication, for what had always been borderline high BP. It was working very well at controlling my numbers (too low at times). I never related the coughing I was having to this medication. I would start coughing and other people would get concerned, wondering if I was alright. I just chalked it up to hay fever and allergies which I have had on and off for several years. But for me, the allergies usually took the form of hives rather than respiratory distress. It wasn't until I was talking to a friend, that had been on the same medication, that I made the connection. I think it is great that there is a site like this where people can share their experiences. God only knows that we cannot expect to get the straight scoop from the drug companies.

I agree. You are either an idiot, or the salesman that sells this poison. I took this stuff for the 1st time last week...for ONE night. I hadn't heard a thing about ANY effects that it has ever had....or seen this sight. I was up all night with pressure in my chest, heart pains, fatigue, and a major head-ache. After I called the doctor and said I wasn't going to take it anymore, I found this site. So I DID NOT have effects because everyone-else said they did. I had them because this medication has major flaws. So go and try to figure out some-other problem that isn't so over your head.

I hate to burst your bubble but I've run marathoins been at a still decent weight not marathong weight current 180 punds at 6'-2" I've always had borderline high BP with coassional spikes. This past January I had some hypertensive urgency episodes that miminced stroke and have been taking Lisinopril since then 30mg was the final dosage that appeares to work best for me. I found this site while looking for any possible relationship to the fatigure that I have been freling and changes that have been made over this past year. Yes we can talk ourselves into many things if we don't use care but for at least some of us it was a search to find a possible explination for issues that lead us to do our research. I've also been on an antidepressant for almost two years now and we have been trying to make changes in that area because earlier this year it seemed like my old med wasn't worksing as well. Prt of the reson we were thinking that was becuase of my lack of energy and motivation. Since meds changes on the antidepressant front have not been going well I am trying to look back over this past year and see if I can find any other possible explinations to the changes I have experienced. I'm passing on information to my healt care providors who I consider part of a team. My therapist who is most knowledgable on the antidepressants my GP and myslef making up the members of the team. We all respect each others knowledge and input. As the person directly impacted by the medications it's up to me to report what I experience and keep the other members of my team updated on how I am doing. Being human it's always possible I overlook reporting something hence the need to look back and review the old let's see when did X start happening and what was going on in my life at that point. No I'm not in marathon shape but I did my last half marathon in August of this year. Yes there are things we can do that are bad for ourselves and things we can do that can help but those aren't aleays the cause and effect. My mother died following a major stroke at age 71, she battled high BP for years my father who is 87 now has always had great BP. As far as my depression goes I've battled it for years before finally hitting a low point causing me to reach out for help. I battled depression even at times when I was doing 100 mile bike rides and other times while I was putting in the miles necessary to run a decent marathon.

Hey take it easy, please. You are way off base to say everybody is overweight and can't manage their diets. Are you a marathon runner yourself? Well I am and guess what? I have high blood pressure !!!!! Yes I have had terrible coughing that I believe is associated with this medicine. I looked at the site after my symptoms appeared to see what other's were experiencing. Now, I am sure that many people don't have these symptoms and it can be very beneficial or the medicine would be off the market. That does not negate that people experience them. By the way I majored in Psy. too.

I am a RN and have never had high BP. I am Slender and Exercise daily.
I watch all that I eat to keep a balanced diet. My high BP was brought on by stress during a divorce. Now to respond to you .. I was not looking for a problem woth Lisinopril when I found this site. I was looking for a solution.
I began taking Lisinopril 4 months ago. Symptom #1 Coughing (never a cough before without a cold) Symptom #2 Sneezing all the time Symptom #3 Gagging and vomiting easily. Symptom #4 Swelling in legs and feet, face and hands. At this time I still did not think of the Lisinopril .... I thought Stress. Now Symptom #5 Hives covering my body.... I thought it was Shingles at first because they appeared on one side of my body ... got a physician that is a friend of mind to can a script in for Valtrex $298.00. Next day I am covered with hives and they continue to get worst by the day. I started looking on the internet and low and behold it's not stress it's Lisinopril. I'm going to change BP medicine. My Husband takes Lisinopril and has no side effects that we can see but it does not work for my or these people on this site. I am thank ful that people can talk about these symptoms because sometimes Doctors ask you what do you think is the problem and in my case it's LISINOPRIL.

You definatly have not been through any trials that would make you learn compassion. Some people may not have any troubles with this medicine, but many do. It is not your right to judge. My husband had the same attitude as you, until God allowed him to suffer with health problems and believe me, he has a very different attitude now. I would hope that you could learn to have a more open approach to things you really don't know about. With all the Big Pharma's doing dummy studies these days, I just do not understand how you can be so closed minded.

Pardon me but this is very real! I have been hunting a remedy for the coughing and gagging daily for nearly a year. You have no right to say that we are hypochondriacs we have already experienced the side effects we are just looking for answers since like 5 rounds of antibiotics didnt do the trick. Go back under your rock and dont chastise those who have been thru so much.
