3 of my sisters were also on Yasmin and they all developed melasma (the discoloration of pigment of your skin) on their faces and it scared me so I make sure to stay out of the sun or any tanning beds. I was on Yasmin for a year with no real noticeable side effects. The only thing was I started taking them at night right before I went to bed otherwise they made me dizzy. Also if you miss a pill and have to double up..oh heavens i was sick! I only did this twice but both times I woke up in the middle of the night barfing from the nausea.
About 3 weeks ago I switched to Yaz and Im not sure yet if that was a good decision. I have a hard time getting up in the morning because my head feels so heavy and sometimes dizzy. Ive also noticed a decrease in my sexual appetite which really bites. Ill give it another month or so but Yasmin might be the better pill out of the two.
I too have been experienced the extreme tiredness. I can sleep 8-10+ hours and still want more sleep. I also noticed that this side effect has not been listed. I have gone on line as well to research side effects. You are the first person that I noticed stated going through being tired. I also have been going through waves of emotions over minor things. I only have been on Yaz for 1 month and my OB/GYN instructed me to give it 4 months for my body to regulate.
I also have been craving strawberries, bananas, potatoes, and dairy products like never before.
Yes, me too. Extremem tiredness, and outta breath when I take the stairs. I exercise regulary so this is not normal for me. Mood swings like crazy, crying jags, anxiety over dying....help! My OB also said give it 3 months but I'm not sure I want to be on it that long!
I have been taking Yaz for about two and a half months.
I also feel very tired in the morning making it extra difficult to get out of bed, early in my cycles i've felt occasional days of depression. Overall feel more sluggish. I took Desogen for over 10 years and switched to Yaz because I felt so emotionally unstable on Desogen. Not sure Yaz will help yet or not. I'll give it a little more time and see. Its such a guessing game.
Hello Ladies :)
I found this thread because I googled "Yaz makes me dizzy" -- I wanted to see if my suspicions were true or just in my head. And sure enough, I found you all here. For me, it's hit or miss. Some months I get these side effects and some months I seem to breeze through. Today is my first day of my tenth or so pack and I have had no appetite, felt really sluggish all day (even after coffee), and have been dizzy. So weird. And yet, when I was off it for the last four days, I felt normal and my husband said it looked like I lost weight. I've been on Yaz for about nine months now and I only started getting these side effects in the last three or so months. I'm seriously considering going off them, but the flipside is that I don't get a period at all while I'm on Yaz (no cramps!!! YAY!). When I weigh it out, in some ways, it seems worth it to deal with the side effects a few days out of the month in order to get the benefit of reliable birth control, no period, and only moderate PMS. The alternatives might be even more inconveniencing.
