my husband was taking atenolol and the doctor switch him over to lisinopril 5mg he felt bad his blood pressure shot up to 196 over 116, and had chest pain, shortness of breath and he ended up in the emergeny room his heart rate was 120 bpm. his doctor put him back on atenol and he is doing better.Has anyone had this same side affect?

My Mom was on another medication for blood pressure and since her blood pressure was still high, Lisinopril was added. She had the same result with elevating of her pressure to dangerous levels, instead of lowering. At least she did not get the extreme symptoms your husband did. She ended up fatigued, felt "not normal" and wound up with the cough that has now persisted for over 2 months.
