I was prescribed Metoprolol and broke out in hives. My doctor then switched me lisinopril. I took it for the first time yesterday and I had a very bad sore throat to the point I could hardly swallow, diarrhea and I feel very blue (not myself). Is this common after only one dose?

I took one and a half of the 20 mg pills and it took me almost one and a half months to have all the side effects go away! The docotrs will say its all in your head but they are getting kick backs from the pharmacutical companies. They are not going to say anyhting is bad with their "little moneymakers" products?

I was on varying doses of metoprolol for three years. My body was unable to appropriately metabolize it which caused a buildup in my system and I gained weight (unable to exercise), and also began to experience symptoms of lupus and really lost my quality of life. Had a devastating physical, mental, emotional effect on me - difficulty working, socializing, focusing. Abruptly I decided I wanted off of it (after I was unable to walk 1/2 block without resting) and changed doctors, who told me that this drug was "notorious" for causing these types of problems. You cannot just stop taking it; it was a 6 week process for me - but I lost 14 pounds of fluid that it was causing me to retain over the first three weeks. The lupus symptoms began to disappear, and I feel great a year later(taking 20mg benicar now). My blood pressure actually went down, no longer depressed, working out again feel ALIVE again. My dr. said it takes 3 months to get out of system; and a up to a full year to become symptom free. If you're feeling bad, try to find a dr. who will work with you about making a change. In my case, I just kept getting worse and worse.
