It was nice to find this website, finally figuring out a reason why I get my yeast infections, headaches, naseau, pain on my left breast bone, fatigue, mood swings, etc... I always thought it was just me, but I'm now thinking that maybe it's not. I've had recurrent yeast infections ever since being on Yasmin (I've been on it for over 4 years) and my MD has never mentioned it could be the pill. I finally started seeing a connection between the two when I started tracking what happens to me when I miss taking the pill (ALWAYS a yeast infection). And it got me to thinking that maybe there are other women out there who suffer from the same thing. Also, at some points I actually thought I had serious mental/health problems b/c of my consistent headaches, fatigue, and mood swings. I used to be really active up until I was 19 when I started on Yasmin, and it went downhill from there. I guess I just thought that this was just my normal grown up self (I know sounds kinda lame). And I've totally experienced the lack of sex drive, it seems I'm only interested the week before I get my period or when I'm on it.

well, I guess I'm just another one who is on this pill and questioning it...I am taking Yaz, the lower dose form, for a week now and am wondering if this sudden congestion in my lungs out of nowhere has anything to do with it. I am a bit sleepless, have bowel movements like twice a day the past week (when usually I'm every couple of days) and headaches that won't go away with ibuprofen. Anyone have these symptoms? Especially the lung congestion thing? (I don't have it anywhere else, in my throat, nose, sinuses or anything....)

I had the same problem on tri-cyclen LO I have had an yeast infection for four STRAIGHT years!!!! I hate my life right now! The doctor told me today he didn't think birth control cause YI but it does and he put me on yasmin today! I was hoping this helped but now I am worried after reading your problem!

yeast infections, headaches, pain in breast, fatigue, mood swings, etc..all me!!!

The sex will never get better until you are off of birth control. I have a friend that got off of it and she is always wanting to now!

Thanks for your posting hineygirl, stupid birth control... I still haven't stopped using it b/c I don't want to get pregnant and it keeps my face clear. I'm getting married in 3 months and I'm looney enough as it is (I'm sure with our without the Yasmin right now, LOL). But you had a yeast infection for 4 straight years, that's unbelievable!!! How are you coping with that? I've found that Hydrocortisone cream works for the itching and reduces the amount of time I have one. What have you found that works well? On Yasmin, if I miss 1 pill and have to make it up by taking 2 pills in one day, I end up with a yeast infection (probably b/c it messes with my hormones).

I don't know what to do I am starting Yasmin sunday but I haven't read one good thing about it yet! He took me off of ortho tri-cyclen LO to help with the yeast infection and it seems that everyone here is having the same problem! What should I do????

I have just decided that I was going to live with the YI for the rest of my life and I pray all the time GOD would just help me get through it and get rid of it! My fiancee just can't stand it! We are getting married in almost 2 months and I'm worried starting a new pill will mess with my periods and if I just stop taking birthcontrol I feel I maybe on it on me wedding and I bloat really bad and I need my wedding dress to fit! What do you think I should do I don't want to have a stroke!!! And we a really careful not to have a baby right now!!!

hineygirl, I also am on Yasmin and used to get yeast infections constantly. Are you sexually active? My former gyno did say that it could be caused from the pill, but also suggested that perhaps my boyfriend and I were passing it back and forth (I would clear up but it would return every time). He would prescribe the pills specifically for yeast infections (can't remember the name, but very common), and he told me to give them to my boyfriend as well. After my boyfriend went a round on the meds, I never had another yeast infection, EVER. You may want to consider. Good luck!

I just started using yaz this month. I started it during my first day of menstruation, but up to now I still have spotting (I only have 5 tablets left). Does anyone there experienced the same side effect? If so, do you know what could be the reason for this? My OB check-up is still scheduled next week. Thanks.

I've been on Yasmim for about 2 months. I started Yasmin to regulate my periods. But since starting the birth control pill I've developed mood swings, decreased sex drive and my liver enzymes have gone up which may indicate the beginining of liver damage. This pill really sucks and don't recommend it to anyone.

I have been on Yasmin for a little over a year now, I was on tri-cyclen previously ( I'm surprised I didn't kill anyone, worst 9 years of my life, or my husbands rather LOL) My only complaint about Yasmin would be the constant yeast infections that I'm sure it causes ( I have only ever had one previous to taking Yasmin), it's driving me a bit mad. About a month after I started taking Yasmin I got a yeast infection and since then I get one about every other month. I can't afford the $20 diflucan pill plus $20 for monistat every couple of months, not to mention taking diflucan kills both good and bad bacteria, so I always end up getting a nasty cold afterwards (right now for instance) On a good note I seem to be the only women on Yasmin or any birth control pill that hasn't experienced a deminished sex drive!!!

I was never aware that birth control pills were a contributing factor to YI. Until I research cures for yeast infections and stumble on this forum. I have been using yasmin for exactly one month, i missed a couple of day taking the pill and had to end up taking a double dose. It took about three days after this incident that my boyfriend started to complain about this itch two days after I had the worst yeast infection that I have ever had in years. I am really concerned about this because I cannot be a slave to yeast infections. I am gonna try one more month taking the pill without misses and see what happens WISH ME LUCK

I seem to crave more sugar when on yasmin which in turn increases my problems with yeast infections. I had a problem this summer where I had a sever yeast infection for about 3 weeks, where I wanted to just rip it off. I did some research and found that birth control can cause an overgrowth of yeast in your body and give you yeast infections. I then went off of birth control for 2 months, had no more infections and now that I am starting to have sex, I went back on it. I have only been on it for about 2 1/2 weeks and i already have a pretty bad yeast infection where it is almost unbearable. I also found myself not being able to stop consuming sugar 2 days ago and no matter what other food I ate, all i wanted was sugar, which I'm sure didn't help the issue. It is SO frustrating!! Does anyone know of a birth control pill that doesn't cause yeast infections?

I don't know of any pill that promises no yeast infections. It's crazy. I use to be such a fan of the pill because when I got married and started having sex, I didn't want to worry about any additional steps beforehand. I was only on Yasmin for about seven months. I was totally fine for the first three but somewhere along the line I noticed that I was unable to lose weight even when I was trying like a mad woman. By the sixth month I was just feeling all funky in all sorts of ways. It wasn't until the end that I linked it to the yeast infections that were coming every or every other month! I had never heard of such a thing so I was trying everything to get rid of them; changing my laundry detergent, fabric softener, nixing the fabric softener sheets all together, cleaning myself every way under the sun after sex. I was getting so frustrated until it dawned on me that the only thing I hadn't tried was a different method of birth control. I had only had a yeast infection once in my life prior to going on birth control pills and it was from staying in a damp bathing suit all day every day for a week. The crazy thing was, I didn't find out that repeated yeast infections could happen while on the birth control from a doctor. I found out from a Monistat box. Thanks Monistat :) The truth is, we're using condoms now and I was so annoyed that we had to resort to that for about two or three times of using them. Now I will never put hormones in my body again. It works for some people, but if it's not working for you, seriously, it may not be worth it! That's no way to live!

i started yasmin a year and a half ago, ever since then i've had a yeast infection that will not go away! I've been to 3 different doctors, they kept giving me creams and pills, i went to the health food store and bought more yeast remedies. nothing worked! i have been a mess, i coudnt figure out why this wont go away. finally yesterday i realized i am going to stop taking the pill for a couple months to test it out . i have been wondering for a while if the birth control is what is causing it. after reading this website i realized how right i am. i've had horrible horrible chronic headaches everyday and i cant breathe anymore. i went and got an allergy test a few months ago and im allergic to dust and to my cats. i thought maybe this was it. but my chest always has this pressure on it, sometimes i can barely work out when i go to the gym. i thought it was just me but maybe the yasmin is causing all this.....
