I have been on toprol for almost a month and I've notice difficulty breathing especially at night and then the anxiety. I thought something was happening to me but now since I have read all these letters I know now it's not me it the medicine and I will be going off this medicine. Thank you for all your reply's it has been very helpful.

I am also one who has noticed an odd increase in allergy type symptoms, even thought I've never had allergies in my life. I've read where others have oddly experienced very similar problems, so I can't help but feel somehow this medication may be responsible. A while back I went through a time where I was having trouble catching my breath, and was excessively yawning to compensate for it. In two years I have also gained about 20 pounds and I can lose a pound no matter what, and I honestly don't eat that much. I've never had weight problems before, and I'm 48 years old.

I've also noticed that some doctors don't seem to really be aware of these symptoms so many of us are reporting, so I've learned that just because a doctor may not agree does not necessarily make it so...

I've been taking Toprol XL for about a year and a half. I have always been fit and maintained static weight at about 205. I have since gained 15 pounds, which despite effort has been sustained. Otherwise, my energy and dreams have been normal.

Thank god I found this site tonight, I knew something was wrong and I tracked the symptoms to the time I started toporol approx 3 years ago. I had rapid hair shedding, thinning and weight gain which was unlike me, also I noticed a lot of bloating I didn't have before. I am taking 50mg of spirolatonate hoping this will help the weight gain and bloating. I am weaning off the toporol but it is hard. I wish I had known this before I took it, my dermo actually said it was a hair shedder drug but it took me2 years to find her. Hoping the weight stuff will go away eventually.

oh my God! i thought i was losing my mind. i have had so many health issues the past 5 years and most recently everything everyone has said about toprol xl is exactly what i am experiencing. weight gain, insomnia, DEPRESSION, PANIC ATTACKS, weird dreams, contstant fatigue, etc. sometimes the cure is worse than the problem. no more toprol for me. i'm finished with them and all the other meds. i actually felt like i was dying.

I also started Toprol xl 25mg about 3 mo ago. I eat really well, no fried foods or drive through foods as well. BUT I have gained about 8 to 10 lbs since I started and I seem way more bloated than normal. The dreams, well lets just say Holy cow! They are awful. My allergies are way worse than before and I am always tired. I see that all most all of you are not takeing this anymore. What did you switch to instead of the Toprol?

Also I wanted to ask you all if your blood seems this? When you get a cut or something, does it seem like it bleeds more than it should cause mine is.
