I was on lisinopril for 3 months. Three years later I still have issues with problem tiredness and sore lungs. Still though, I'm much better than I was 2 years ago.
About 6 months after quitting lisinopril, my recovery stalled for months on end, until I found zinc. 9 months later same thing and this time I found selenium. Pretty sure my immune system had run my body low on these trying to detoxify. After discovering each of these minerals my recovery restarted.
I wish I had had this information much sooner (of course, I wish I had never tried it in the first place too), because I think I could have protected myself from some of the additional damage and certainly from a lot of suffering. One can't expect to hear this nutritional advice from the professionals, because the doctors don't know anything about nutrition and the body.
I take 25 mg/day of a high-quality zinc, and, 100 mcg/day of a high-quality selenium, for starters. My fav is Country-Life Target Mins zinc, and, their yeast-based selenium, but I split the tablets as needed to get smaller dosages than how they come.
I take the zinc between meals since it absorbs easily without food, and, this way it won't interfere with the absorbtion of other minerals. I take the selenium with food. I actually take 12.5 mg (1/4 tablet) of zinc twice a day between meals, and 50mcg selenium (also 1/4 tablet) twice a day with meals (lunch & dinner).
I also do the usual supsects for healing, vit-e, vit-c, vit-b. And make sure i get enough of all the other minerals.
