Where do I begin??? I have been taking Yaz for six months. Migraines! The worst migraines ever, I cannot function for one full day and sometimes more, the pain was so intolerable. Hives! For the past two months, I keep thinking that I had a food allergy; even my doctor diagnosed it as that. After going to the allergist, I was told that I have developed an allergy to the Yasmin pill. No part of my body has been discriminated with this medication. Hives from the top of my head, in my eyes, right down to the bottom of my feet! This has been the worst experience of my life with this pill. Fatigue to the extreme! I fall asleep sitting up and never feel rested. Yaz has caused me to go up two cup sizes so far, I went from being a 38C to a 40DD and I can't fit into anything. My boobs are sore a lot. Weight gain, at least 20 pounds heavier. Nausea; Indigestion; Diarrhea & Constipation; Decreased Sex Drive; and Mood swings; Uncontrollable Rages; Severe body aches; Hot Flashes/Chills; Crying Spells; Blurred Vision; Lack of Concentration; Trouble sleeping; Dizziness; Shaking; Restlessness mainly after 9pm when I should be winding down to go to bed; Terrible night sweats; Never ending cravings for junk food; Inability to cope with stressful situations; Feeling of being inadequate; Can’t concentrate; Gassy; Hate family & partners; Irrational.

Good lord! Maybe you should stick to condoms!!!! I have read that a few of your side effects should be considered serious, such as the hives, blurred vision, and lack of concentration. These could be signs of stroke. Good luck!!

I am a VERY clean person mind you . All this going on I shower 1-2x's a day , I am bloated and have cramps all the time , wake up sweating in the middle of the night moody too. Was great when i first got on this but the first thing that grabbed my attention was your headaches and crying about dumb stuff that wouldn't normally get to me so easily.....You have any other's who are experiencing the same thing ?

I have been experiencing alot of these symptoms too, but never dreamed it was the Yazmin. I suddently developed hypertension about six months ago, after taking Yazmin. I too have the severe headaches, body aches, fatigue, weight gain (only about 5 pounds) breast tenderness...I am 45 and otherwise healthy. I don't smoke or drink, and that is why my doctor thought I was a good candidate for Yazmin. I am now thinking that I should stop taking it and see if my symptoms disappear...

I've put on about 20lbs, my boobs are sore as hell..... I can't sleeep at night, but I'm ALWAYS tired.... and I've had some migranes from hell.... Im thinking of calling my dr. tomorrow and telling him whats going on, b/c I do not like this at ALL..

I too am waiting for the Yasmin to flush out of my system. I’ve gone on fasts and water flushes and even been drinking Detox Tea hoping for a miracle. It’s been 2 weeks since I have been off the Yasmin and I still have the hives. I am now seeing an Allergist to help deal with the long lasting side effects. The only thing that has helped with the hives is Zyrtec but then that knocks me off my butt, not even Starbucks coffee perks me up. I have lost a little weight since not taking the pill; my boobs are starting to fit back in my bras now. A lot of praying and a lot of detoxing going on here in NY! Good luck in health ladies!

I started Yaz less then a month ago and I too have been having headaches, eating everything in sight, and so so tired all the time now, where I was full of energy a month ago. In fact had lost 20lbs prior. Now I can't keep my eyes open after work. Been experiencing cramping down through my belly button, I know that sounds weird but they're like sharp sudden jags. Anyone else ever have this? Now I have 6 pills left till the white ones and I have a brown thick discharge and spotting. I really hoped this would help with my PMS but it's making me even more anxious and moody. Is there something else that will work out there?

I started Yaz about a month and a half ago and I have had a migraine virtually every day since. I didn't connect it to the Yaz at first because I have migraines at certain times during the month anyway, but I realized that is the only thing that has changed in terms of my medicine and even life stress. I am going to call the doc tomorrow and quit taking it. Back to a diaphragm or something because this is nuts!

I went on Yaz about nine months ago -- the doc thought I could give it a try, in spite of my borderline high blood pressure, since it is such a low dose pill. Well, this pill made me extremely moody and irrational, my period was extremely heavy (unusual for me), and I was tired all the time. I went cold turkey midway through my second pack of pills, because I couldn't stand being such an emotional wreck -- very bad when you have kids! My blood pressure also went up, but it turns out that I was hypertensive even without the pills. My doc agreed that I should stop the pills, but thought it was ironic since this med is sometimes prescribed to menopausal women to HELP with their mood swings. It had the opposite effect on me!

Wow, I have to say, I'm on the opposite side of the fence here, folks! I was diagnosed with PMDD and given Yaz before any type of SSRI because, at the time, I wasn't on any birth control and the doctor thought it might help. Well, my cramps have lessened, I don't bloat as much as I did, I've been fairly mild tempered (especially in comparison to before; before I thought I was going to rip my hair out, daily), and the flow has shortened and lightened -- from 9-10 days, heavy for 6, to 5-6 days, heavy for 2. I feel like a new woman!! I suppose everyone responds differently to different medications, but I just thought I'd let you know that it works for some! I am tired all of the time but I always was; Yaz hasn't made that any better or worse.

Oh, and no migraines (which I used to get all the time) and no weight gain, not even in my chest (I actually wouldn't even mind a bit in my chest).

Well, I hope you find something more suitable. My curse was orthotryciclin. I thought I was going to die on that stuff. Maybe since my body works so well with Yaz and bad with ortho, and yours so bad with Yaz, you'll have better luck with ortho?

I've been on Orthotryciclin too. It wasn't as bad as Yaz but my cycle was pretty bad.

I'm happy that Yaz is working for you.

Best of luck!

I have been taking Yasmin for 2 weeks and I developed hives, itching everywhere, severe migraine, lump on the back of my ears and hair line, and my boobs are sore. It's very unfortunate that I developed these systoms.

I have been developed all those symtoms for almost a week now. I'm taking Benadryl everyday. I'm really trying to push that pill into my body but I guess I just cant win.

I'm so glad i found this website and I'm not a crazy one. Anyway..good luck..I hope I experienced would help if any of you develop the same symtoms.

I have been on YAZ for about 1 year. I was prescribed
YAZ because three years ago I took a birth control that was high in Estrogen which burned out my thyroid and gave me a mild case of Hypothyroidism. When I say mild, lets just say I had severe memory loss, slept 16hours a day and still felt like I slept 2 hours, fell asleep everywhere because of it, gained 10 lbs even though I worked out 5 times a week, and started to get severe depression. I was taking thyroid medicine until I started taking YAZ. With YAZ, my thyroid leveled out since there was such a low dosage of Estrogen (Estrogen taxes your thyroid) so I am now off the thyroid medicine which is great. I lost the 10 Lbs and have been completely energized. My skin looks great too.

However, yesterday I just had the worst migraine that has lasted till this morning and is still lingering. My arm went numb in my sleep to the point of waking me up. I have to admit that I skipped the 4 days off last month since I thought - whats the point, but now I am thinking it is important to have a full break in between. I'm going to see if my migraine will continue to persist as well as any numbness while I sleep. But over all, this is the first time I have had a bad sideaffect. I'm hoping this is just a one time occurence as YAZ has been a life saver with regards to my complexion and my thyroid issue.

My daughter took Yaz for cramping and after only 3 weeks I stopped it becasue of her brain fog. Now it has been 3 monthe and I am wondering when this memory effect will go away, if ever? It has ruined her school life. She can do homework, but can't remember anything for tests. If only I had googled it before!! Anyone out there with brain fog who has recovered?

OH MY GOD!!! I have brain fog too and never connected it with Yaz. I have been off Yasmin for over 6 months now and still experience memory loses! It's starting to come back but it has been a very slow process. Unfortunately, I go to work and then college in the evenings and I have a very hard time remembering even what I did yesterday. My focus is still off but it's starting to come back. One day at a time. Take care.

Wow. I am so glad that I found this today. I spent yesterday in the emergency room, with the worse migraine headache I have ever experienced. The doctors had no idea what was wrong with me and immediately did ct scans on my brain and sinuses. Turns out that I was suffering from a sever migraine. It had lasted since Friday. Three days of pain and vomitting and being able to do absolutely nothing except sleep. Not being a regular sufferer of migraines, except for one I had 6 weeks prior (which I attributed to a sinus headache) left me to wonder what had changed in my life. The ER doctor suggested that birth control can be a cause - I only started taking YAZ about 4 months ago. I think I found my answer. I am off the drug as of today...fingers crossed. Thanks to everyone for these posts. Very helpful.

OMG, i am glad i ran into this website, my wife started on Yaz 2 weeks ago, she started having severe migraine, lack of sleep, and became very irrational, moody, and she broke in hives. I am wondering if she can stop taking the pill ASAP, or she has to take all the pills to the end of the cycle??

I noticed that a lot of people are using the med Yasmin interchangably with Yaz. They are two totally different BC pills. I was on Yasmin and had a lot of irritability and mood swings. Now, I have been on Yaz for 2 days and I am having headaches. I don't normally get headaches so I thought I would see what others have experienced.

i have nearly been on YAZ for 2 months and it is horrid. I have never felt so horrible. I've gained wait.. about 10 pounds, my boobs are horribly sore and the fatigue is making me feel like I have a serious disease. It is debilitating. I felt ok the first month or so but it's getting pretty bad. I'm going to quit tonight.

I"m so glad I found this. I have been on yaz for about 9 months now. I was told it would help with mood swings, acne, and severe cramping. I have irregular bleeding, horrible mood swings, irrational thinking, my boobs are sore most of the time, i was just hospitalized for severe vertigo this past weekend, headaches, the list goes on believe me. I have not connected it with YAZ until recently, because things are just not normal and I'm calling my doctor tomorrow. I can't live like this anymore, it's like a rollercoaster.

I was on YAZ for 5 days, and then the HIVES appeared! It is awful, has been 2 LONG days with little relief. I'm on Benedryl, the dr. says I have to wait it out until all the med. is out of my system!!!
