I stopped taking statin drugs about 9 months ago. My Dr. was also very unhappy. I took them for 18 months before I couldn't even get out of bed. My cholesterol is 289 right now, and was only 187 when I started taking Zocor. It was 111 while on statin drugs. I had the same problems you describe. I read that there is a rebound effect when you go off the drugs, (they are higher than when you started taking them) hopefully this will peak and return to normal. I have 2 more years of teaching before I retire, but I am not okay as of this reply. I went to an arthritis specialist and I was told I had no form of arthritis that could explain my problem and a neurologist also did extensive testing. I was told not to take statin drugs in any form, but my Cardiologist still wants me to try again. No way! My muscles just don't work correctly, but I am slowly improving. I hope you do to. I am no longer stumbling and my last x-rays showed my joints in my legs and hips are just fine now. Nine months ago I was told to expect to have to have hips replaced if they kept deteriorating. I am not going to worry about the cholesterol and trade life for a wheel chair or bed. I go to Curves everyday that I can and my weight is a bit over also, even though I wear a size 8. Walking is too hard for me right now, but the orthopedic surgeon said to bicycle if I could get one. He said I still have a long way to go to get my muscle mass back. I may buy a stationary bike, but right now Curves is all I can handle. Afton
