Been on warfarin about 3 weeks due to an a-fib condition.. Dose is 2.5mg a day. Since starting I cannot sleep, feel very tired and fatigued and slight sour stomach. Doctors say this is due to the a-fib but I don't think so. All I hear from my doctors is no side effects. Hs anyone else experienced these symptoms, and/or is there a website where I can find some answers.

I'm on the same dosage (2.5mg), take @ 8p.m. Have CHF, CM, Afib, V-tach,pacemaker,and adverse reaction to Heparin another type of anticoag.Been on the rat pioson for about 5 1/2 yrs, this drug is sensitive to activity, diet(dark green leafy vegetables, HOPE you like broccoli, sensitive to other drugs, that's why i take it @ nite with no other drugs. I had trouble sleeping and getting rest for my heart, was prescibed antidepressant (remeron 3.125mg, quarter of 15mg) for sleep atleast 6 hrs.

PS to bullwinkle, YOUR DR is right, your body isn't getting enough BLOOD, WARFARIN thins your blood so it can flow more easily, May take some time to take "effect" and when your body has blood supply you have energy. PLatlets get less sticky. Your heart may have irregular rhythm thus creating the previous mentioned. Warfarin does not make you tried. You contact any time

Hi, I also had one episode of a-fib back in Jan. which resulted in a TIA ( a small stroke)The blood in the upper chamber of the heart during an A-fib starts to clot. Then when the heart starts to beat correctly that blood gets pumped out and pushed through your veins and mine must have gotten stuck in an area of my brain that was narrowed.Has your doctor said anything to you about a proceedure to correct this condition?I was sent to a cardiologist right away who told me why this happens and how it can be fixed. If your willing to get the procedure done you won't have to be on the warfarin anymore. How many episodes of the A-fib did you have?I was hooked up to a monitor when I was having my A-fib attack and thats how we detected it.I had a heck of a time adjusting to the warfarin. At first I had the chills all the time. Now, like you I feel tired at any given time( to the point sometimes of having to find a place to lay down immediately).I feel a little anxious all the time too.My hair is falling out, my sleep pattern is erratic and I have to be careful not to take this medication on an empty stomach.I think because this medication has to be so closely monitored I feel like I lost part of my carefree lifestyle. The truth is that without this medication I could possibly have a severe stroke and become debilitated.I made some lifestyle changes which have helped me feel better but I have a long way to go.Are you overweight or is your a-fib inherited or both? Do you have a blood pressure cuff? The wrist type cuffs show your heart rate and weather or not your in A-fib.Since getting the Warfarin regulated for me I have not had an A-fib episode but I had an a-flutter( racing heart beat) As we age its tougher to reverse some things. If your up for the proceedure I'd get it done and get off the Warfarin! As you can see A-fib is nothing to fool around with.I 'm wondering, is Warfarin the only anticoagulant available? I also suggest you get and wear a medication alert bracelet so if you are ever in an accident the caregivers would know right away what your taking and could figure you have some heart problem. (Another reason to get the proceedure done.) I hope I was of some help to you. Thanks for posting your info....Reenie
