Your pharmacist is correct. Don't listen to the doc. I just went through the same thing with my father. My father had severe pain from lipitor in his arm and shoulder that started about 10 days after starting Lipitor (another statin like Zocor. Described it as someone was trying to cut his arm off. The the doctors said maybe he broke his arm. Never admitted it was lipitor. I had my father stop the Lipitor based on all the info I read. Especially on http://www.spacedoc.net/. Get off the zocor and don't try the other statins either. They all work the same. Take CoQ10, 500-1000mg a day until the pain is gone. It really helps. Statins eliminate the CoQ10 from your body (CoQ10 is essential for cellular function throughout your body) and that is one of the main causes of the pain. My father got immediate relief from the constant pain when he took 300mg of CoQ10 and then had to take it again a few hours later when the pain returned. Did this for a few days until it was gone. Good luck.
