I have been on Diovan for about three months now, and it has lowered my blood pressure. Unfortunately, I am experiencing a side effect (I think) from the medicine. About eight months ago I had two inguinal hernias repaired. It was not until I started taking Diovan that I started having burning and a light pulling sensation in both areas. Is it possible that because the blood vessels in that area are being relaxed by the Diovan that I am having problems? My doctor thought it might be from an infection that is common with the mesh that is used. He prescibed an antibiotic, but this has done nothing to help. Any thoughts???? Thanks, Angelo in Kissimmee

I started taking Diovan back in January and 30 days later couldn't walk, or even stand up out of a chair alone! I stopped taking the Diovan as soon as I realized it might be my problem.

The arthritis in my knee, foot and back became more painful and my muscles felt like I had ran a marathon when I woke up in the morning, I also had very bad swelling in my feet and ankles and....a bad bad burning in the side of one foot, I remembered I had damaged that foot pretty bad years ago.

I will try to explain what my the doctor just said to me....

My NEW doctor who explained how Diovan works, said the body protects wounds/old injuries with small pockets of water that cushion the area around the wound and Diovan will strip the body of that cushion/repair and mess up your nerve system.

I've been suffering badly with this since January and my old doctor didn't seem to know anything about the problem with Diovan, all he coudl say is "I don't think it's the Diovan" he also didn't seem to care.

Day by day after I stopped taking the drug it slowly seem to get better and I mean very slowly. What I didn't know till today is that there were medications that would fix it and kill my pain untill full recovery.

I'm now on those meds and should be getting better in a few days.

Good luck...hope this helps
